The anisotropic correlation between buckled dimers on Si(100) was investigated by scanning tunneling microscopy. A bidentate ligand molecule was used to pin two neighboring dimers at 300 K. The chemically pinned dimer induces antiferromagnetic interaction along the dimer rows. Observed results agree well with Monte-Carlo simulations semi-quantitatively. 相似文献

We found that La(2)Sb with a layered structure composed of alternate stacking of La square nets and LaSb layers exhibits bulk superconductivity with a critical temperature of 5.3 K. The Mn(III)-initiated aerobic oxidation of heterocyclic 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds, such as 4-alkyl-1,2-diphenylpyrazolidine-3,5-diones, 1,3-dialkylpyrrolidine-2,4-diones, 3-alkyl-1,5-dimethylbarbituric acids, and 3-butyl-4-hydroxy-2-quinolinone gave excellent to good yields of the corresponding hydroperoxides, which were gradually degraded by exposure to the metal initiator after the reaction to afford the corresponding alcohols. The synthesis of 30 heterocyclic 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds, the corresponding hydroperoxides and the 10 alcohols, their characterization, and the limitations of the procedure are described. Depending on protein environment, a single photofunctional chromophore shows a wide variation of photoabsorption/emission energies. This photobiological phenomenon, known as color tuning, is observed in human visual cone pigments, firefly luciferase, and red fluorescent protein. We investigate the origin of color tuning by quantum chemical calculations on the excited states: symmetry-adapted cluster-configuration interaction (SAC-CI) method for excited states and a combined quantum mechanical (QM)/molecular mechanical (MM) method for protein environments. This Minireview summarizes our theoretical studies on the above three systems and explains a common feature of their color-tuning mechanisms. The cholesterol-armed cyclen Na(+) complex formed stable Langmuir monolayers at the air-water interface. The π-A isotherm displayed a reasonable limiting molecular area of ~1.57 nm(2) and the areas expanded when amino acids were dissolved in water, indicating the efficient accommodation in the monolayers. Brewster angle microscopy (BAM) images exhibited almost no defects of the compressed Langmuir monolayers regardless of the presence of amino acids. Based on the idea that the increase in the limiting molecular areas corresponds to the amount of the adsorbed amino acid, the binding constants of three enantiomeric amino acids, namely valine (Val), leucine (Leu), and phenylalanine (Phe), were calculated at different surface pressures. Remarkably, a surface pressure dependent enantioselectivity of amino acid recognition was observed. Upon compression of the monolayers, the binding constants of amino acids increased accompanying an inversion of chiral selectivity from the D- to L-form in the case of Val and, conversely, from L- to D-form in the case of Phe. 相似文献
