Ferulic Acid (FA) is a highly abundant phenolic phytochemical which is present in plant tissues. FA has biological effects on physiological and pathological processes due to its anti-apoptotic and anti-oxidative properties, however, the detailed mechanism(s) of function is poorly understood. We have identified FA as a molecule that inhibits apoptosis induced by hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) or actinomycin D (ActD) in rat pheochromocytoma, PC12 cell. We also found that FA reduces H2O2-induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) production in PC12 cell, thereby acting as an anti-oxidant. Then, we analyzed FA-mediated signaling responses in rat pheochromocytoma, PC12 cells using antibody arrays for phosphokinase and apoptosis related proteins. This FA signaling pathway in PC12 cells includes inactivation of pro-apoptotic proteins, SMAC/Diablo and Bad. In addition, FA attenuates the cell injury by H2O2 through the inhibition of phosphorylation of the extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK). Importantly, we find that FA restores expression levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), a key neuroprotective effector, in H2O2-treated PC12 cells. As a possible mechanism, FA increases BDNF by regulating microRNA-10b expression following H2O2 stimulation. Taken together, FA has broad biological effects as a neuroprotective modulator to regulate the expression of phosphokinases, apoptosis-related proteins and microRNAs against oxidative stress in PC12 cells.  相似文献

Prompt -ray analysis with the internal monostandard method was used to organs taken from rats. After B or Cd was administered, the B/H and Cd/H contents ratios were determined in the brain, kidney, and liver to study their distribution and metabolism. Boron was distributed in all organs but metabolized quickly. Cd was slowly accumulated in the liver and kidneys during the 65 hours studied but no Cd was detected in the brain.  相似文献

A10(PO4)6(OH)2 (A = Ca and Sr)-supported Pt catalysts were prepared and their catalytic activity in NO reduction were investigated. The Sr10(PO4)6(OH)2-supported catalyst had high catalytic activity in the C3H6?CNO?CO2 reaction; the activity was higher than that of the ??-Al2O3-supported catalyst at 300 °C. The basicity of the apatite supports would affect the chemical state of Pt on catalyst, resulting in promotion of NO reduction.  相似文献

A method is described for the determination of traces of arsenic, based on sodium tetrahydroborate reduction of arsenic and introduction of the arsine formed to a relatively low-powered (1.6 kW) inductively-coupled plasma where the arsenic atomic emission is generated, Inter-element interference effects are described; many can be eliminated by addition of potassium iodide to the sample solutions, but the standard additions method is recommended for accurate arsenic determination. Potassium iodide is also used for prereducing arsenic(V) to arsenic(III). The method has a detection limit of 0.1 ng As ml-1 and the linear calibration range spans nearly four orders of magnitude. The proposed method is applied to the determination of ng ml-1 levels of arsenic in waste waters.  相似文献

It is well-known that cholesteric liquid crystals have an optical property, selective reflection, due to changes in the pitch of their helical structure. This unique property of cholesteric liquid crystals can be used to attain a visual sensing system showing color changes as the detection signal. In this paper, we report a visual sensing membrane comprising cholesteric liquid crystals, in which a 15-crown-5 derivative was incorporated as ion recognizing sites, for K+ in aqueous solution. The resulting CLC membrane showed a shift of the reflection peak sensitive to K+ in water. We have also designed polymer-dispersed liquid crystal membranes that showed ion-selective reflection peak shifts with improved response time.  相似文献

The oxidation processes of a Pt(111) electrode in alkaline electrolytes depend on non‐specifically adsorbed ions according to in situ X‐ray diffraction and infrared spectroscopic measurements. In an aqueous solution of LiOH, an OHad adlayer is formed in the first oxidation step of the Pt(111) electrode as a result of the strong interaction between Li+ and OHad, whereas Pt oxidation proceeds without OHad formation in CsOH solution. Structural analysis by X‐ray diffraction indicates that Li+ is strongly protective against surface roughening caused by subsurface oxidation. Although Cs+ is situated near the Pt surface, the weak protective effect of Cs+ results in irreversible surface roughening due to subsurface oxidation.  相似文献

Static light scattering measurements were performed on dilute solutions of monodisperse poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) in methanol at 25°C. PEOs of five different molecular weights ranging from nominal Mw = 8.6 × 104 to 9.13 × 105 were used. Linear Zimm plots were obtained for all the PEO samples: no downturn was observed at small angles, indicating that no large aggregates of PEO molecules exist in the solution. From the plots, values of the weight-average molecular weight, Mw, the radius gyration, RG, and the second virial coefficient, A2, were successfully determined for respective PEOs. Observed relationship between RG and Mw indicates that methanol is certainly a good solvent for the polymer. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

The optical torque and the trapping position (focal point) in optical tweezers are analyzed for upward-directed focused laser illumination using a ray optics model, considering that laser light is incident at not only the lower surface but also the side surface of a 3-wing rotor. The viscous drag force due to the pressure and the shearing stress on all surfaces of the rotor is evaluated using computational fluid dynamics. The rotation rate is simulated in water by balancing the optical torque with the drag force, resulting in 500 rpm for an SU-8 rotor with 20 μm diameter at a laser power of 200 mW. The trapping position is estimated to be 7.6 μm in the rotor with an upward-directed laser at 200 mW via an objective lens having a numerical aperture of 1.4. Both the rotation rate and the trapping position agree well with the values obtained in the experiment.  相似文献
