Levels to spin 16+ in the ground band and 17? in the octupole band in 222Th have been identified using the reaction 208Pb(18O, 4n)222Th at 93 MeV. To suppress intense γ-ray background from fission a residue detector was built and operated in coincidence with the Ge(Li) and NaI(Tl) detectors. The apparent moment of inertia in the ground-state rotational band rises very rapidly with increasing spin, however, no indications of backbending were observed. The octupole band at low spin has an aligned angular momentum relative to the ground-state band. Strong cross-band E1 transitions competed with collective E2 transitions within each band. Analysis showed that the ratios were within experimental uncertainty independent of both the spin and parity of the parent state.The average γ-ray multiplicity per cascade was measured for 222Th. The results were in reasonable agreement with the computer code ORNL-ALICE. 相似文献

X-ray diffraction has been used to further investigate the quenched form of polypropylene. The diffractometer traces were analyzed by a mathematical peak separation procedure which assumed a combined Cauchy and Gaussian shape for the peaks. The results confirmed that the quenched form contains about 60% of amorphous polypropylene. In the remainder, the x-ray diffraction peak positions indicate that the chain helices are arranged in a square array and a cubic or tetragonal symmetry is proposed for this phase. The shape of the x-ray diffractometer peaks indicates a degree of strain in the structure. Crystallite sizes, determined from peak breadths, have been estimated as approximately 30 Å. 相似文献

Comprehensive fission measurements, including mass-angle distributions, for the reaction of 32S with the prolate deformed nucleus 232Th at near-barrier energies show two distinct components in both mass and angle; surprisingly, both have characteristics of quasifission. Their relative probabilities vary rapidly with the ratio of the beam energy to the capture barrier, suggesting a relationship with deformation aligned (sub-barrier), or antialigned (above-barrier), configurations at contact. 相似文献

The availability of precisely measured fusion excitation functions have allowed the determination of experimental fusion barrier
distributions. This concept is utilised in 9Be+208Pb reaction, to reliably predict the expected complete fusion cross-sections. However, the measured cross-sections are found
to be only 68% of those predicted. The large cross-sections observed for incomplete fusion products support the interpretation

Fusion cross-sections for the 7Li + 12C reaction have been measured at energies above the Coulomb barrier by the direct detection of evaporation residues. The heavy
evaporation residues with energies below 3 MeV could not be separated out from the α-particles in the spectrum and hence their
contribution was estimated using statistical model calculations. The present work indicates that suppression of fusion cross-sections
due to the breakup of 7Li may not be significant for 7Li + 12C reaction at energies around the barrier. 相似文献
