Aerodynamic force acting on a sphere for five kinds of boundary layer trips around the critical Reynolds number, together
with the force on a smooth sphere, was successfully measured. This was achieved using JAXA’s 60-cm Magnetic Suspension and
Balance System after performing detailed simulations and adjusting the sphere mass and its control parameters. The minimum
drag coefficient of a smooth sphere was evaluated around 0.19 in the support-interference-free condition. No hysteresis was
observed for the drag coefficient in the critical range for tested sphere with boundary layer trips. Using three serially
connected 2nd-order Butterworth low-pass filters, an inertia force oscillating at less than 15 Hz was evaluated from the measured
model position, and the unsteady aerodynamic force acting on the sphere was also evaluated with reasonable accuracy. Two kinds
of oscillatory aerodynamic forces appeared in the critical range depending on the sphere surface condition: a force rotating
around an axis parallel to the uniform flow for both a smooth sphere and a sphere with axially symmetric 0.17-mm-high backward
step, and an oscillating force in the plane including the axis parallel to the flow for a sphere with axially symmetric step
implemented with 0.35–mm-thick tape with wrinkles acting as small vortex generators. There was also observed a force irregularly
rotating through less than 180° in the range about a sphere axis parallel to the flow for a smooth sphere in the supercritical

An analog of aildenafil, which is a potent and highly selective inhibitor of phosphodiesterase 5, was found in a dietary supplement marketed for enhancement of sexual function. The compound was isolated by silica gel column chromatography, and its structure was identified by means of 13C-NMR spectrometry, 1H-NMR spectrometry, high-resolution MS, and X-ray structure determination. The compound was identified to be sulfoaildenafil (other names: thioaildenafil, dimethyl sildenafil thione, and thiomethisosildenafil). Sulfoaildenafil is very similar to the compound thiohomosildenafil. As it is difficult to distinguish between them by LC-photodiode array detector analysis, ultra-performance LC (UPLC)/MS, ion trap LC/MS/MS (LC/IT-MS/MS), and GC/MS were performed. The mass spectra of thiohomosildenafil by UPLC/MS and LC/IT-MS/MS showed mass fragments of m/z 58, 72, and 355, and the mass spectrum by GC/MS showed mass fragments of m/z 56, 72, and 420. Some of these fragments had low intensities, but they were useful for distinguishing between the two compounds. The relationship between aildenafil (other names: dimethylsildenafil and methisosildenafil) and homosildenafil is similar to that between sulfoaildenafil and thiohomosildenafil. Abstract Photopolymerization of styrene in the presence of diphenyl diselenide proceeded smoothly. The polymer yields and the number average molecular weight (Mn) of the polymers increased with reaction time. Further, a linear relationship was found for a plot of Mn for polystyrene versus polymer yield. These results indicate that this polymerization proceeds through a living radical mechanism. Photopolymerization of styrene with bis(p-tertbutylphenyl) diselenide afforded a telechelic polystyrene with terminal arylseleno groups. The resulting polymer underwent the reductive elimination of terminal seleno groups by the reaction with tri-n-butyltin hydride. Moreover, this telechelic polymer was treated with hydrogen peroxide to afford polystyrene with carbon-carbon double bonds at both chain ends. 相似文献

Abstract The chain transfer constant of the polymethyl methacrylate radical for N,N-dimethylaniline was determined in two solvents, benzene and dimethyl phthalate. Plots were made using1/Pn=kt°Rp/kp 2[M]2η + CS1 [S1]/[M] + CS2 [S2]/[M] +CM where η=viscosity of monomer-solvents mixture, kt°=rate coefficient of termination when η=1 cP, S1=benzene or dimethyl phthalate, S2=N,N-dimethylaniline, and other symbols have their usual meanings. The plots agreed well for the two solvents. If the plots were made without considering the viscosity term, two separate lines resulted for the two solvents. Thus it is essential to consider the viscosity of the polymerizing system in the analysis of chain transfer reactions when the termination reaction is diffusion-controlled and the viscosities of the monomer and solvent differ markedly. 相似文献

Abstract Polymer-supported dimethylformamides were prepared by copolymerization of N-methyl-N-(p-vinylbenzyl)formamide, styrene, and divinylbenzene with AIBN. These polymers displayed catalytic activity for the reaction of alkyl bromides with alkali metal thiocyanates and potassium acetate in a solid-solid-liquid triphase system, although the corresponding monomeric formamides were inactive. The catalytic activity depended remarkably on the copolymer composition. Further, the catalytic reaction was affected by some experimental parameters such as stirring speed, particle size, degree of crosslinking, and solvent. A plausible catalytic reaction mechanism consisting of collisional contact between the solid catalysts and reagents was proposed. 相似文献

We investigated luminescence decay kinetics in single-walled carbon nanotubes in large bundles excited by femtosecond pulses. The time constant of luminescence decay becomes longer with decrease in photon energy: 40 fs at 1.2 eV and 380 fs at 0.6 eV. Research works undertaken in the first author’s laboratory at the University of Tokyo over the past 30 years are highlighted. Finding of the occurrence of nonlinear waves (named Free-Surface Shock Waves) in the vicinity of a ship advancing at constant speed provided the start-line for the progress of innovative technologies in the ship hull-form design. Based on these findings, a multitude of the Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) techniques have been developed over this period, and are highlighted in this paper. The TUMMAC code has been developed for wave problems, based on a rectangular grid system, while the WISDAM code treats both wave and viscous flow problems in the framework of a boundary-fitted grid system. These two techniques are able to cope with almost all fluid dynamical problems relating to ships, including the resistance, ship’s motion and ride-comfort issues. Consequently, the two codes have contributed significantly to the progress in the technology of ship design, and now form an integral part of the ship-designing process. 相似文献

Handling uncertainty by interval probabilities is recently receiving considerable attention by researchers. Interval probabilities are used when it is difficult to characterize the uncertainty by point-valued probabilities due to partially known information. Most of researches related to interval probabilities, such as combination, marginalization, condition, Bayesian inferences and decision, assume that interval probabilities are known. How to elicit interval probabilities from subjective judgment is a basic and important problem for the applications of interval probability theory and till now a computational challenge. In this work, the models for estimating and combining interval probabilities are proposed as linear and quadratic programming problems, which can be easily solved. The concepts including interval probabilities, interval entropy, interval expectation, interval variance, interval moment, and the decision criteria with interval probabilities are addressed. A numerical example of newsvendor problem is employed to illustrate our approach. The analysis results show that the proposed methods provide a novel and effective alternative for decision making when point-valued subjective probabilities are inapplicable due to partially known information. 相似文献
