Slurry sampling (SS) with hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometry (HG-AAS) was used to analyze 3 particulate matter samples collected in the Bananeira Village, Brazil, in 2005. The relative standard deviation (RSD), used to assess the precision, was lower than 4.8%. The accuracy of this method was confirmed by the analysis of certified atmospheric particulate matter urban dust reference material SRM 1649a. This method (SS/HG-AAS) was used to determine total arsenic and arsenic (III) in three particulate matter samples. In these samples, the total arsenic concentrations varied from 3.8 to 20.0 ng m− 3, while As (III) concentrations varied from 2.7 to 10.5 ng m− 3. All samples were also analyzed using acid digestion in digest block with cold finger and detection for HG-AAS. A paired t-test demonstrated no significant difference (95% CL) between the results obtained using these two sample preparation procedures. The limit of quantification, calculated considering the mass of particulate matter collected on every filter, was 0.6 ng m− 3 for As total and 1.0 ng m− 3 for As (III). 相似文献

The reductive alkylation of primary aromatic and aliphatic amines with aliphatic ketones has been achieved in aqueous acidic medium using commercially available, non-activated zinc dust catalyzed by a very small quantity of iridium bromide. Anilines react well in aqueous formic acid, whereas monoalkylamines require 1,4-dioxane as a co-solvent and sulfuric acid as the proton source. The fumigant action of peel essential oils of Citrus sinensis var. pear (pear orange = PO) and C. aurantium (bitter orange = BO) from the northeast of Brazil were evaluated against Bemisia tabaci biotype B and compared with eugenol as a positive control. The oil concentration in the PO at 8.5 microL/L of air caused 97% mortality, while the oil concentration of BO at 9.5 microL/L of air caused 99% mortality. However, the LC50 estimates for both oils (LC50 = 3.80 microL/L of air for PO and LC50 = 5.80 microL/L of air for BO) did not differ from each other, but they did when compared with eugenol (LC50 = 0.20 microL/L of air). Regarding their effects on oviposition, the Citrus oils showed concentration-response dependence, reducing the number of eggs as the concentration increased, which was not observed for eugenol. The minimum concentrations of the oils that caused a significant reduction in the egg lay were 3.5 and 7.0 microL/L of air for BO and PO, respectively. These results suggest that oils from PO and BO peels may be promising as models to develop new insecticides that might be applied into the integrated management of whiteflies. 相似文献

Both natural and synthetic polyelectrolytes form strong complexes with a variety of proteins. One peculiar phenomenon is that association can take place even when the protein and the polyelectrolyte carry the same charge. This has been interpreted as if the ion-dipole interaction can overcome the repulsive ion-ion interaction. On the basis of Monte Carlo simulations and perturbation theory, we propose a different explanation for the association, namely, charge regulation. We have investigated three different protein-polymer complexes and found that the induced ionization of amino acid residues due to the polyelectrolyte leads to a surprisingly strong attractive interaction between the protein and the polymer. The extra attraction from this charge-induced charge interaction can be several kT and is for the three cases studied here, lysozyme, alpha-lactalbumin, and beta-lactoglobulin, of the same magnitude or stronger than the ion-dipole interaction. The magnitude of the induced charge is governed by a response function, the protein charge capacitance Z2-Z2. This fluctuation term can easily be calculated in a simulation or measured in a titration experiment. 相似文献

It is a well known fact that in \(\mathbb {R} ^n\) a subset of minimal perimeter L among all sets of a given volume is also a set of maximal volume among all sets of the same perimeter L. This is called the reciprocity principle for isoperimetric problems. The aim of this note is to prove this relation in the case where the class of admissible sets is restricted to the subsets of some subregion \(G\subsetneq \mathbb {R} ^n\). Furthermore, we give a characterization of those (unbounded) convex subsets of \(\mathbb {R} ^2\) in which the isoperimetric problem has a solution. Given a connected graph \(G=(V,E)\), the d-Minimum Branch Vertices (d-MBV) problem consists in finding a spanning tree of G with the minimum number of vertices with degree strictly greater than d. We developed a Miller–Tucker–Zemlin based formulation with valid inequalities for this problem. The results obtained for different values of d show the effectiveness of the proposed method, which has solved several instances faster than previous methods. Under continuous photolysis at 675 nm, liposomal zinc phthalocyanine associated with nitrosyl ruthenium complex [Ru(NH.NHq)(tpy)NO]3+ showed the detection and quantification of nitric oxide (NO) and singlet oxygen (1 O2 ) release. Photophysical and photochemical results demonstrated that the interaction between the nitrosyl ruthenium complex and the photosensitizer can enable an electron transfer process from the photosensitizer to the nitrosyl ruthenium complex which leads to NO release. Synergistic action of both photosensitizers and the nitrosyl ruthenium complex results in the production of reactive oxygen species and reactive nitrogen species, which is a potent oxidizing agent to many biological tissues, in particular neoplastic cells. 相似文献

This work demonstrates the usefulness of the Open Photoacoustic Cell Technique to study the effects of irradiance and temperature on photosynthesis. In vivo and in situ photosynthetic induction measurements were performed in three different species of eucalyptus plants (E. grandis, E. urophylla, and E. urograndis) previously dark-adapted at different temperatures. Photosynthetic activity curves were built as a function of light intensity, indicating the occurrence of photosynthesis saturation. E. urograndis presented higher photosynthetic activity than the other species, especially at low temperature, indicating its tolerance to stress conditions. The incidence of background saturation light of various intensities allowed the in situ study of photoinhibition in eucalyptus plants through open photoacoustics. 相似文献
