Hyperfine fields at Y nuclei in Y(Fe1−xTx)3 (T = Al, Co)

The spin echo spectra of ⁸⁹Y hyperfine fields in Y(Fe_1−xT_x)₃ with low concentration x consist of two main lines and of satellite lines caused by the replacement of the Fe atoms by the T atoms. Values of the magnetic moments of the T atoms are estimated by observing the satellite lines.     

Smooth functional derivatives in Feynman path integrals by time slicing approximation

We give a fairly general class of functionals on a path space so that Feynman path integral has a mathematically rigorous meaning. More precisely, for any functional belonging to our class, the time slicing approximation of Feynman path integral converges uniformly on compact subsets of the configuration space. Our class of functionals is closed under addition, multiplication, functional differentiation, translation and real linear transformation. The integration by parts and Taylor's expansion formula with respect to functional differentiation holds in Feynman path integral. Feynman path integral is invariant under translation and orthogonal transformation. The interchange of the order with Riemann-Stieltjes integrals, the interchange of the order with a limit, the semiclassical approximation and the fundamental theorem of calculus in Feynman path integral stay valid as well as N. Kumano-go [Bull. Sci. Math. 128 (3) (2004) 197-251].     

Stepwise conversion of oxiranes to allylic alcohols by iodotrimethylsilane and DBU

Iodotrimethylsilane, prepared from hexamethyldisilane and iodine reacts smoothly with oxiranes to give (2-iodoalkoxy)trimethylsilanes which can be converted to allylic alcohols with DBU in good yields. The whole conversion can be carried out in one-pot operation.     

Decay of 59.3 min 128Sn to levels of 128Sb

The γ-ray spectra associated with the decay of 59.3 min ¹²⁸Sn have been measured with Ge(Li) detectors. In order to recognize γ-rays of ¹²⁸Sn and ^128mSb, the decay and/or growth of γ-rays emitted from a tin sample separated chemically from fission products were measured. The decay of ¹²⁸Sn is followed by the intense Sb X-rays and 32.1, 45.8, 75.1, 80.9, 115.9, 152.6, 404.4, 482.3, 557.3 and 680.2 keV γ-rays. On the basis of the measured singles and γ-γ coincidence spectra and the analysis of intensities of true sum peaks, a new decay scheme has been constructed. The 10.0 min isomer in ¹²⁸Sb decays by β-emission (96.4%) to excited levels in ¹²⁸Te and by an isomeric transition (3.6 %) to the 9.1 h ground state.     

Electron energy-loss spectroscopy of NO,O2 and NH3 on Si (1 1 1) surfaces

Electron energy-loss spectroscopy has been applied to the study of Si (1 1 1) surfaces covered with NO and NH₃. It is proposed that these gases are absorbed in molecular states at room temperature. The similarity of the loss spectra for NO and O₂ strongly favors with our recent proposal that O₂ is adsorbed as molecules at the initial stage of the oxidation.
