Fluid flow around an obstacle was observed at the kinetic (individual particle) level using "complex (dusty) plasmas" in their liquid state. These "liquid plasmas" have bulk properties similar to water (e.g., viscosity), and a comparison in terms of similarity parameters suggests that they can provide a unique tool to model classical fluids. This allows us to study "nanofluidics" at the most elementary-the particle-level, including the transition from fluid behavior to purely kinetic transport. In this (first) experimental investigation we describe the kinetic flow topology, discuss our observations in terms of fluid theories, and follow this up with numerical simulations.  相似文献

The fusion–evaporation reaction 10B(12C, 2n) was used to make the first observation of in-beam γ decays from the astrophysically important nucleus 20Na, lying adjacent to the proton drip-line. All states below the proton threshold in 20Na were populated and identified in the experiment. These include new levels, previously unresolved levels, and states located with improved energy precision. The level structure of 20Na, and its γ transitions, are compared to the mirror partner 20F measured simultaneously in this experiment. In particular, a high degree of energy stability is found for all negative parity states. These results are discussed in the context of the nuclear shell model.  相似文献

PbZr0.53Ti0.47O3 (PZT) thin films containing nanoparticles of Pt (3–10 nm) were produced using pulsed laser deposition (PLD). The Pt content can be tuned by varying the energy density of the laser beam. Phase and microstructure analysis of the thin films was performed using XRD, SEM, TEM and AFM. The electrical properties were investigated by C–V and I–V measurements. The effective dielectric constant of the composite films increased substantially through the Pt dispersion. Solution-grown single crystals of Fe(2)OBO(3) were characterized by specific heat, M?ssbauer spectroscopy, and x-ray diffraction. A peak in the specific heat at 340 K indicates the onset of charge order. Evidence for a doubling of the unit cell at low temperature is presented. Combining structural refinement of diffraction data and M?ssbauer spectra, domains with diagonal charge order are established. Bond-valence-sum analysis indicates integer valence states of the Fe ions in the charge ordered phase, suggesting Fe(2)OBO(3) is the clearest example of ionic charge order so far.  相似文献

The production of heavy neutron-rich nuclei is investigated using cold-fragmentation reactions. More than 25 new heavy neutron-rich nuclei were produced in the fragmentation of 208Pb projectiles at 1 A GeV impinging a beryllium target. The precise measurement of their production cross sections enables to benchmark the predictive power of different model calculations and make reliable predictions of the production rates expected in future radioactive beam facilities.  相似文献
