A coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering microscope based on a Ti:sapphire femtosecond oscillator and a photonic crystal fiber is demonstrated. The nonlinear response of the fiber is used to generate the additional wavelength needed in the Raman process. This work presents a methodology for optimizing the precision, accuracy and sensitivity of quantitative solid state NMR measurements based on the external reference method. It is shown that the sample must be exclusively located within and completely span the coil region where the NMR response is directly proportional to the sample amount. We describe two methods to determine this "quantitative" coil volume, based on whether the probe is equipped or not with a gradient coil. In addition, to improve the sensitivity and the accuracy, an optimum rotor packing design is described, which allows the sample volume of the rotor to be matched to the quantitative coil volume. Experiments conducted on adamantane and NaCl, which are representative of a soft and hard material, respectively, show that one order of magnitude increase in experimental precision can be achieved with this methodology. Interestingly, the precision can be further improved by using the ERETIC method in order to compensate for most instrumental instabilities. 相似文献

Dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA), histomorphometry and X-ray microtomography (microCT) were used to assess effects of risedronate and testosterone in a combined rat model of orchidectomy (ORX) and local paralysis induced by botulinum neurotoxin (BTX). Four groups of mature rats were studied for 1 month: SHAM operated; ORX and right hindlimb immobilization (BTX); ORX+BTX+risedronate or testosterone. Changes in bone and body composition were measured by DXA (BMC, lean and fat mass), histomorphometry (BV/TV(2D), Tb.Th and microarchitectural parameters) and microCT (BV/TV(3D), SMI and cortical parameters). ORX and BTX had additive effects on bone loss since differences were maximized on the immobilized bone. The decrease in BMC on the tibial metaphysis reached -33.6% vs. -11.3% in the non-immobilized limb. BV/TV and Tb.N decreased and Tb.Sp increased in both hindlimbs whereas Tb.Th was significantly lower only in the immobilized limb. Decrease of tibial cortical area and thickness was greater in the immobilized limb. Risedronate prevented BMC, BV/TV and architecture loss but not reduction in Tb.Th. Cortical bone was preserved only in the non-immobilized limb. Testosterone was unable to prevent trabecular and cortical bone loss, but it prevents loss of whole body lean mass. In conclusion, ORX and BTX resulted in additive effects on bone loss. Risedronate had protective effects on trabecular bone loss but was less effective on cortical bone. 相似文献

A novel method for direct laser writing of two-dimensional cadmium sulfide (CdS) semiconductor nanoparticle microstructures
is reported. A two photon or a higher-order multiphoton absorption process, originating from femtosecond laser pulses, was
used to decompose CdS precursors dispersed in a zirconia thin film previously dip-coated on a glass substrate. The kinetics
of nanoparticle formation as a function of laser power were monitored in situ by photoluminescence spectroscopy. Raman spectroscopy
was also performed to characterize the structural changes of the zirconia matrix under irradiation and to verify the formation
of CdS nanoparticles. Results show that CdS nanoparticles were formed by two-photon absorption (TPA) with or without the help

The measurement uncertainty of illuminance and, consequently, luminous flux and luminous efficacy of LED lamps can be reduced with a recently introduced method based on the predictable quantum efficient detector (PQED). One of the most critical factors affecting the measurement uncertainty with the PQED method is the determination of the aperture area. This paper describes an upgrade to an optical method for direct determination of aperture area where superposition of equally spaced Gaussian laser beams is used to form a uniform irradiance distribution. In practice, this is accomplished by scanning the aperture in front of an intensity-stabilized laser beam. In the upgraded method, the aperture is attached to the PQED and the whole package is transversely scanned relative to the laser beam. This has the benefit of having identical geometry in the laser scanning of the aperture area and in the actual photometric measurement. Further, the aperture and detector assembly does not have to be dismantled for the aperture calibration. However, due to small acceptance angle of the PQED, differences between the diffraction effects of an overfilling plane wave and of a combination of Gaussian laser beams at the circular aperture need to be taken into account. A numerical calculation method for studying these effects is discussed in this paper. The calculation utilizes the Rayleigh–Sommerfeld diffraction integral, which is applied to the geometry of the PQED and the aperture. We report the identification of six new superdeformed (SD) bands in 197,198Pb observed with the EUROBALL IV spectrometer. The results are interpreted in the framework of cranked Hartree-Fock calculations
with approximate projection on the particle number by means of the Lipkin-Nogami method. A mixing between quasi-particle excitations
and an octupole vibration is suggested in the two SD isotopes. We have estimated the ordering of the neutron valence orbitals
and confirm indirectly a N = 118 SD gap.
