We report the synthesis of micellar phosphatidylcholine‐coated superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles as a new long circulation contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging. Oleic acid‐coated Fe3O4 nanoparticles were first prepared through thermal degradation and then encapsulated into small clusters with a phosphatidylcholine coating to obtain hydrophilic nanomicelles. A thorough characterization confirmed the chemical nature of the coating and the excellent colloidal stability of these nanomicelles in aqueous media. Magnetization and relaxivity properties proved their suitability as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agent and in vitro cell viability data showed low toxicity. Vascular lifetime and elimination kinetics in the liver were assessed by blood relaxometry and by in vivo MRI in rats and compared with “control” particles prepared with a polyethylene glycol derivative. These micellar particles had a lifetime in blood of more than 10 h, much longer than the control nanoparticles (≈2 h), which is remarkable considering that the coating molecule is a small biocompatible zwitterionic phospholipid. The protein corona was characterized after incubation with rat serum at different times by high‐throughput proteomics, showing a higher proportion of bound apolipoproteins and other dysopsonins for the phosphatidylcholine particles. The antibiofouling properties of this corona and its resistance to the adsorption of proteins corroborate the observed enhanced stability and prolonged systemic circulation. 相似文献

The influence of pressure drop on retention, selectivity, plate height and resolution was investigated systematically in packed supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) using pure carbon dioxide as the mobile phase. Numerical methods developed previously which enabled the prediction of pressure gradients, diffusivities, capacity factors, plate heights and resolutions along the length of the column were used for the model calculations. The effects of inlet pressure and supercritical fluid flow rate on selectivity and resolution are studied. In packed column SFC with pure carbon dioxide as the mobile phase, the pressure drop can have a significant effect on resolution. The flow rate is shown to have a larger effect than generally realized. The calculated data are shown to be in good agreement with the experimental results. Finally, the variation of the chromatographic parameters along a 5.5 meter long model SFC column is illustrated. The possibilities and limitations of using long packed columns in SFC are discussed. It is demonstrated that long columns with large plate numbers do not necessarily yield better separations. 相似文献

Essential oils (EOs) have been long recognized for their antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, insecticidal and antioxidant properties. They are widely used in medicine and the food industry for these purposes. The increased interest in alternative natural substances is driving the research community to find new uses and applications of these substances. EOs and their components show promising activities against many food-borne pathogens and spoilage microorganisms when tested in vitro. In food systems, higher concentrations of EOs are needed to exert similar antibacterial effects as those obtained in in vitro assays. The use of combinations of EOs and their isolated components are thus new approaches to increase the efficacy of EOs in foods, taking advantage of their synergistic and additive effects. The purpose of this review is to provide an overview on the antimicrobial efficacy of these combinations. A survey of the methods used for the determination of the interactions and mechanisms involved in the antimicrobial activities of these combinations are also reported. 相似文献

Aza-crown ethers 2 and 3 with anthracene-containing pendant arms have been synthesised and characterised. Both compounds bind Group 1 metal cations in solution, forming complexes of 1:1 stoichiometry. The properties of compound 2 and its complexes have been studied by a range of techniques, including NMR, UV and fluorescence spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. The pendant arms can adopt either a cis or a trans geometry, the cis geometry favoured with larger cations. The geometry of the complex affects the fluorescence properties of the system, with larger cations giving higher excimer/monomer ratios. Upon irradiation at lambda>300 nm, coronand 2 forms the cryptand 5 through a reversible intramolecular [4pi+4pi] cycloaddition reaction. The rates of the forward and reverse reactions of this photochromic process are cation dependent; in particular the rate of the thermal reverse reaction is decreased by smaller cations and increased by larger cations, especially Rb(+). The metal binding constants in methanol for 2 and 5 have been determined, revealing that the cryptand 5 binds Na(+) and Rb(+) more weakly than crown ether 2 by over two orders of magnitude. 相似文献

This paper presents a new method for studying the surface of a heterogeneous solid by inverse gas chromatography at infinite dilution (IGC-ID). After saturating the high-energy sites by impregnation with a suitable polymer, the chromatographic probes visit the low energy sites, which are not visible by conventional IGC-ID. This method has been used to study the two types of surface of talc: lateral and basal surfaces. In the second part of the paper the influence of the structure of the polymer on the impregnation is examined. In Hiyama-Nozaki reactions of allylchromium with aldehydes the expected products are homoallylalcohols. However, oxidation products derived from these, predominantly allyl ketones, can be common side products. This can be explained by an Oppenauer-(Meerwein-Ponndorf-Verley)-type mechanism (OMPV-reaction). The amount of oxidation is strongly dependent on the substitution pattern of the reaction partners and the reaction conditions. An appropriate choice of these can lead to preferential formation of ketones instead of the alcohols. In addition to its synthetic usefulness, the oxidation-reduction equilibrium is of the utmost importance for the design of enantioselective Hiyama-Nozaki reactions because it is also a potential racemization pathway. 相似文献
