A parameter study is performed for the case of two-dimensional sound propagation from a (source) city canyon to a nearby, identical (receiver) city canyon. Focus was on sound pressure levels, relative to the free field, in the shielded canyon. An accurate and efficient coupled FDTD-PE model was applied, exploiting symmetry of the source and receiver canyon. With the proposed calculation method, simulations were necessary in only half the sound propagation domain. The shielding in the receiver canyon in case of a coherent line source was compared to the shielding by an incoherent line source, by means of sound propagation calculations in a number of 2D cross-sections through source and receiver. It was found that the shielding is rather insensitive to the width-height ratio of the canyons. The presence of diffusely reflecting façades and balconies lead to an important increase in shielding compared to flat façades. Rigid façades yield significantly lower shielding compared to partly reflecting façades. Effects of a moving atmosphere were modeled in detail. Shielding decreases significantly in case of downwind sound propagation when comparing to sound propagation in a non-moving atmosphere. Refraction is the most important effect in the latter. In case of upwind sound propagation, turbulent scattering plays an important role and the shielding is similar to the one of a non-moving atmosphere for the parameters used in this paper. The combination of effects, as is shown by some examples, is in general not a simple addition of the separate effects.  相似文献

For classical polynomials orthogonal with respect to a positive measure supported on the real line, the moment matrix is Hankel and positive definite. The polynomials satisfy a three term recurrence relation. When the measure is supported on the complex unit circle, the moment matrix is positive definite and Toeplitz. Then they satisfy a coupled Szeg recurrence relation but also a three term recurrence relation. In this paper we study the generalization for formal polynomials orthogonal with respect to an arbitrary moment matrix and consider arbitrary Hankel and Toeplitz matrices as special cases. New upper bounds for the independence number and for the clique covering number of a graph are given in terms of the rank, respectively the eigenvalues, of the adjacency matrix. We formulate a conjecture concerning an upper bound of the clique covering number. This upper bound is related to an old conjecture of Alan J. Hoffman which is shown to be false. A universal extraction procedure is described for fat-soluble vitamins in human serum. Methods are presented for routine quantitative analysis by isocratic straight phase HPLC with UV-detection of (alpha + beta)-carotene, vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol) and vitamin A (all-trans-retinol) in one single run, and of vitamin K1 (trans-phylloquinone) and 25-hydroxy vitamin D3 after sample clean-up using disposable reversed-phase cartridges. The limits of detection, precisions and selectivities of the developed assays are shown to be satisfactory after more than three years' experience. The routine clinical determination of fat-soluble vitamins can be performed in less than 5 mL of serum. Analyses of external quality control and randomly taken outpatient samples are shown to be of great value in assessing laboratory performance.  相似文献

Sol–gel deposition of highly oriented Ba0.5Sr0.5TiO3:MgO composite thin films has shown desirable dielectric constant reduction and higher figure of merit for phase-shifter applications. In this multilayer configuration, MgO distributed homogeneously through the Ba0.5Sr0.5TiO3 (BST50) matrix, and it helped in tailoring the dielectric constant and reducing the loss tangent significantly. In the present study, the high-frequency dielectric behavior of the films has been evaluated by fabricating an eight-element coupled microstrip phase shifter and measuring the degree of phase shift and insertion loss as a function of applied voltage at room temperature. An increase in phase-shifter figure of merit (degree of phase shift per dB insertion loss) from 28°/dB for pure BST50 to 71°/dB for a BST50:MgO film (at 14 GHz and 333 kV/cm) has been observed. The effects of low temperature and ionic strength on water encapsulated within reverse micelles were investigated by solution NMR. Reverse micelles composed of AOT and pentane and solutions with varying concentrations of NaCl were studied at temperatures ranging from 20 degrees C to -30 degrees C. One-dimensional (1)H solution NMR spectroscopy was used to monitor the quantity and structure of encapsulated water. At low temperatures, e.g., -30 degrees C, reverse micelles lose water at rates that are dependent on the ionic strength of the aqueous nanopool. The final water loading (w0 = [water]/[surfactant]) of the reverse micelles is likewise dependent on the ionic strength of the aqueous phase. Remarkably, water resonance(s) at temperatures between -20 degrees C and -30 degrees C displayed fine structure indicating the presence of multiple transient water populations. Results of this study demonstrate that reverse micelles are an excellent vehicle for studies of confined water across a broad range of conditions, including the temperature range that provides access to the supercooled state.  相似文献

The use of monoenergetic exciting radiation of molybdenum obtained with a secondary target set-up, a conventional water-cooled tungsten anode x-ray tube and a Si(Li) semiconductor detector permits many trace and minor constituents from chlorine to strontium to be determined in particulate material collected on cellulose filters. The method is rapid and economical compared to other multielement techniques. The use of one or more single-element thin-film standards to calibrate for the analysis of many elements appears to be possible, but some systematic errors must be prevented. Absorption of the fluorescent radiation is remedied by a simple correction method. The precision and the accuracy of the method were critically examined by independent analysis of a number of samples with instrumental neutron activation analysis and by interlaboratory comparisons on the same samples.  相似文献
