The rotational motion of a satellite with a magnetic stabilization system is discussed. The motion is described by a nonautonomous differential equation, with the magnetic moment of the satellite as a parameter. The global phase portrait of the problem is investigated in a wide range of magnetic-parameter values, using a numerical realization of the method of Poincare point maps. New periodic solutions of the problem are found, and an analysis is carried out of the evolution of the phase portrait and the bifurcation of periodic solutions with varying magnetic-parameter values. The values of the magnetic parameter that must be avoided in the design of the satellite magnetic stabilization system are discussed. (c) 1999 American Institute of Physics.  相似文献

This article presents a technique for combining two matrices, an n?×?n matrix M and an m?×?m matrix B, with known spectra to create an (n?+?m???p)?×?(n?+?m???p) matrix N whose spectrum consists of the spectrum of the matrix M and m???p eigenvalues of the matrix B. Conditions are given when the matrix N obtained in this construction is nonnegative. Finally, these observations are used to obtain several results on how to construct a realizable list of n?+?1 complex numbers (λ123,σ) from a given realizable list of n complex numbers (c 1,c 2,σ), where c 1 is the Perron eigenvalue, c 2 is a real number and σ is a list of n???2 complex numbers.  相似文献

Let $f$ be a real entire function whose set $S(f)$ of singular values is real and bounded. We show that, if $f$ satisfies a certain function-theoretic condition (the “sector condition”), then $f$ has no wandering domains. Our result includes all maps of the form $z\mapsto \lambda \frac{\sinh (z)}{z} + a$ with $\lambda >0$ and $a\in \mathbb{R }$ . We also show the absence of wandering domains for certain non-real entire functions for which $S(f)$ is bounded and $f^n|_{S(f)}\rightarrow \infty $ uniformly. As a special case of our theorem, we give a short, elementary and non-technical proof that the Julia set of the exponential map $f(z)=e^z$ is the entire complex plane. Furthermore, we apply similar methods to extend a result of Bergweiler, concerning Baker domains of entire functions and their relation to the postsingular set, to the case of meromorphic functions.  相似文献

Many networks of physical and biological interest are characterized by a long-range coupling mediated by a chemical which diffuses through a medium in which oscillators are embedded. We considered a one-dimensional model for this effect for which the diffusion is fast enough so as to be implemented through a coupling whose intensity decays exponentially with the lattice distance. In particular, we analyzed the bursting synchronization of neurons described by two timescales (spiking and bursting activity), and coupled through such a long-range interaction network. One of the advantages of the model is that one can pass from a local (Laplacian) type of coupling to a global (all-to-all) one by varying a single parameter in the interaction term. We characterized bursting synchronization using an order parameter which undergoes a transition as the coupling parameters are changed through a critical value. We also investigated the role of an external time-periodic signal on the bursting synchronization properties of the network. We show potential applications in the control of pathological rhythms in biological neural networks.  相似文献

In this work we study the asymptotic behavior of viscous incompressible 2D flow in the exterior of a small material obstacle. We fix the initial vorticity ω0 and the circulation γ of the initial flow around the obstacle. We prove that, if γ is sufficiently small, the limit flow satisfies the full-plane Navier–Stokes system, with initial vorticity ω0 + γδ, where δ is the standard Dirac measure. The result should be contrasted with the corresponding inviscid result obtained by the authors in Iftimie et al. (Comm. Part. Differ. Eqn. 28, 349–379 (2003)), where the effect of the small obstacle appears in the coefficients of the PDE and not only in the initial data. The main ingredients of the proof are L p L q estimates for the Stokes operator in an exterior domain, a priori estimates inspired on Kato’s fixed point method, energy estimates, renormalization and interpolation.  相似文献

In this paper we give the precise index growth for the embedded hypersurfaces of revolution with constant mean curvature (cmc) 1 in (Delaunay unduloids). When n=3, using the asymptotics result of Korevaar, Kusner and Solomon, we derive an explicit asymptotic index growth rate for finite topology cmc 1 surfaces with properly embedded ends. The Hurwicz’s criterion is one of the classical decision rules applied in decision making under uncertainty as a tool enabling to find an optimal pure strategy both for interval and scenarios uncertainty. The interval uncertainty occurs when the decision maker knows the range of payoffs for each alternative and all values belonging to this interval are theoretically probable (the distribution of payoffs is continuous). The scenarios uncertainty takes place when the result of a decision depends on the state of nature that will finally occur and the number of possible states of nature is known and limited (the distribution of payoffs is discrete). In some specific cases the use of the Hurwicz’s criterion in the scenarios uncertainty may lead to quite illogical and unexpected results. Therefore, the author presents two new procedures combining the Hurwicz’s pessimism-optimism index with the Laplace’s approach and using an additional parameter allowing to set an appropriate width for the ranges of relatively good and bad payoffs related to a given decision. The author demonstrates both methods on the basis of an example concerning the choice of an investment project. The methods described may be used in each decision making process within which each alternative (decision, strategy) is characterized by only one criterion (or one synthetic measure).  相似文献

Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy Treatment (IMRT) is a technique used in the treatment of cancer, where the radiation beams are modulated by a multileaf collimator allowing the irradiation of the patient using non-uniform radiation fields from selected angles. Beam angle optimization consists in trying to find the best set of angles that should be used in IMRT planning. The choice of this set of angles is patient and pathology dependent and, in clinical practice, most of the times it is made using a trial and error procedure or simply using equidistantly distributed angles. In this paper we propose a genetic algorithm that aims at calculating good sets of angles in an automated way, given a predetermined number of angles. We consider the discretization of all possible angles in the interval [0 \(^{\circ }\) , 360 \(^{\circ }\) ], and each individual is represented by a chromosome with 360 binary genes. As the calculation of a given individual’s fitness is very expensive in terms of computational time, the genetic algorithm uses a neural network as a surrogate model to calculate the fitness of most of the individuals in the population. To explicitly consider the estimation error that can result from the use of this surrogate model, the fitness of each individual is represented by an interval of values and not by a single crisp value. The genetic algorithm is capable of finding improved solutions, when compared to the usual equidistant solution applied in clinical practice. The genetic algorithm will be described and computational results will be shown.  相似文献
