Reactivity and Synthetic Utility of 1,3,2λ5-Dioxaphospholanes

Abstract

The kinetics of Lewis acid-mediated decomposition and definitions of the synthetic applicability of 1,3,2λ⁵-dioxaphospholanes for (i) the syntheses of highly-hindered epoxides, and (ii) the stereospecific functionalizations of stereocenters in 1,2-diol arrays are described.     

A Versatile Synthesis of Amidines from Nitriles Via Amidoximes

Benzamidines were prepared conveniently from benzonitriles in good yield via catalytic hydrogenation of intermediate benzamidoximes in acetic acid/acetic anhydride.     

DERIVATION OF THE LEHNERT FIELD EQUATIONS FROM GAUGE THEORY IN VACUUM: SPACE CHARGE AND CURRENT

It is shown that the Lehnert field equations in vacuum, with concomitant space charge and current, can be derived straightforwardly from standard gauge theory applied in vacuum, using the concept of covariant derivative and Feynman's universal influence. The Lehnert and Proca field equations are shown to be inter-related through the well-known de Broglie theorem, in which the photon mass can be interpreted as finite. These ideas go some way towards addressing the inconsistency inherent in Maxwell's famous displacement current, which has no concomitant vacuum space charge.     

Intermolecular rhodium catalyzed hydroacylation of allenes: the regioselective synthesis of β,γ-unsaturated ketones

A variety of β-S-substituted aldehydes undergo efficient and regioselective rhodium catalyzed hydroacylation reactions with 1,3-disubstituted and 1,1,3-trisubstituted allenes, to deliver β,γ-unsaturated ketone products. Regioselectivites are controlled primarily by steric factors. The reactions are catalyzed by the complex [Rh(dppe)]ClO₄.     

Synthesis of Air‐Stable,Volatile Uranium(IV) and (VI) Compounds and Their Gas‐Phase Conversion To Uranium Oxide Films

Four air‐stable, volatile uranium heteroarylalkenolates have been synthesized and characterized by three synthetic approaches and their gas phase deposition to uranium oxide films has been examined.
