Ballistic phonon propagation in single-crystalline [001]-oriented gallium arsenide has been studied using low-temperature scanning electron microscopy for imaging. Deviations in the phonon focusing pattern due to dispersion effects were found by comparing the phonon images to theoretical calculations of the long-wavelength limit. The phonon propagation behavior in, samples cut from differently prepared wafers has been investigated. For highly impure crystals we found a pronounced increase of the diffusive signal component at the expense of the ballistic one. Samples with varying dislocation densities also showed a sensitive dependence, of the ballistic phonon propagation on these crystal defects. For focusing calculations considering elastic scattering processes the diffusivity of the phonons could be determined as a function of the mean scattering length. We have found phonon mean free paths of 0.35 mm to 0.80 mm for the various GaAs crystals. 相似文献

Motivated by recent experimental results, we study the effect of size reduction on half-doped manganite, La(0.5)Ca(0.5)MnO(3), using the combination of density-functional theory (DFT) and dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT). We find that upon size reduction the charge-ordered antiferromagnetic phase, observed in bulk, is destabilized, giving rise to the stability of a ferromagnetic metallic state. Our theoretical results, carried out on a defect-free nanocluster in isolation, establish the structural changes that follow upon size reduction to be responsible for this. Our study further points out the effect of size reduction to be distinctively different from application of hydrostatic pressure. Interestingly, our DFT+DMFT study additionally reports the correlation-driven stability of the charge-orbitally ordered state in bulk La(0.5) Ca(0.5) MnO(3), even in the absence of long-range magnetic order. 相似文献

Surface active agents (surfactants) are on high interest for physical and chemical industries. Their presence lowers the surface tension of fluids. This is used to achieve special flow properties. These mechanisms are not only influenced by the overall amount of surfactant. They highly depend on the local surfactant distribution. The surfactant concentration is modeled by two convection diffusion equations, one in the bulk and the other on its surface. Adsorption- and desorption processes are included and lead to a (non linear) coupling of both equations. We present a numerical scheme for solving the coupled problem. A Mössbauer spectrometer for the mineralogical analysis of the Mars surface is under development. This instrument will be installed on a Mars-Rover, included in the Soviet Union Mars-94/96 Mars mission. Due to power and mass restrictions the electromechanical drive and the electronic components have been extremely miniaturized in comparison to standard systems. Solid state detectors (PIN-diodes) are used for γ- and x-ray detection. The whole spectrometer is controlled by a microprocessor (transputer). We present a measurement of the partial branching fractions and mass spectra of the exclusive radiative penguin processes B-->Kpipigamma in the range m(Kpipi)<1.8 GeV/c(2). We reconstruct four final states: K(+)pi(-)pi(+)gamma, K(+)pi(-)pi(0)gamma, K(S)(0)pi(-)pi(+)gamma, and K(S)(0)pi(+)pi(0)gamma, where K(S)(0)-->pi(+)pi(-). Using 232 x 10(6) e(+)e(-)-->BB events recorded by the BABAR experiment at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy storage ring, we measure the branching fractions B(B(+)-->K(+)pi(-)pi(+)gamma)=[2.95+/-0.13(stat)+/-0.20(syst)] x 10(-5), B(B(0)-->K(+)pi(-)pi(0)gamma)=[4.07+/-0.22(stat)+/-0.31(syst)] x 10(-5), B(B(0)-->K(0)pi(+)pi(-)gamma)=[1.85+/-0.21(stat)+/-0.12(syst)] x 10(-5), and B(B(+)-->K(0)pi(+)pi(0)gamma)=[4.56+/-0.42(stat)+/-0.31(syst)] x 10(-5). 相似文献

We present the results of searches for decays of B mesons to final states with a b1 meson and a charged pion or kaon. The data, collected with the BABAR detector at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, represent 382x10(6) BB[over ] pairs produced in e+e- annihilation. The results for the branching fractions are, in units of 10(-6), B(B+-->b1(0)pi+)=6.7+/-1.7+/-1.0, B(B+-->b1(0)K+)=9.1+/-1.7+/-1.0, B(B0-->b1(-/+)pi(+/-))=10.9+/-1.2+/-0.9, and B(B0-->b1(-)K+)=7.4+/-1.0+/-1.0, with the assumption that B(b1-->omega pi)=1. We also measure charge and flavor asymmetries A(ch)(B+-->b1(0)pi+)=0.05+/-0.16+/-0.02, Ach(B+-->b1(0)K+)=-0.46+/-0.20+/-0.02, A(ch)(B0-->b1(-/+)pi(+/-))=-0.05+/-0.10+/-0.02, C(B0-->b1(-/+)pi(+/-))=-0.22+/-0.23+/-0.05, DeltaC(B0-->b1(-/+)pi(+/-))=-1.04+/-0.23+/-0.08, and A(ch)(B0-->b1(-)K+)=-0.07+/-0.12+/-0.02. We perform an amplitude analysis of B+/--->phi(1020)K*(892)+/- decay with a sample of about 384 x 10(6) BB[over ] pairs recorded with the BABAR detector. Overall, twelve parameters are measured, including the fractions of longitudinal fL and parity-odd transverse f perpendicular amplitudes, branching fraction, strong phases, and six parameters sensitive to CP violation. We use the dependence on the Kpi invariant mass of the interference between the JP=1(-) and 0+ Kpi components to resolve the discrete ambiguity in the determination of the strong and weak phases. Our measurements of fL=0.49+/-0.05+/-0.03, f perpendicular=0.21+/-0.05+/-0.02, and the strong phases point to the presence of a substantial helicity-plus amplitude from a presently unknown source. 相似文献
