Abstract

A series of azamacrocycles which have been N-functionalised with pendent pyridylmethyl-(pyCH2-), bipyridylmethyl-(bipyCH2-) and terpyridylmethyl- (terpyCH2-) arms have been synthesised and characterised, and some of their coordination chemistry with transition metal ions is reported. By attaching the pendent-arms at the 5- rather than the 6-position of the py, bipy and terpy, new ligands are generated which can be used to form polynuclear metal complexes in a controlled and systematic fashion. Fluorescent pH and transition metal ion sensors have been developed by reacting the azamacrocyclic N-pendent bipyCH2 arm(s) with cis-[Ru(bipy)2Cl2], to give macrocycles with up to four attached [Ru(bipy)3]2+ groups. That based on 1,4,7-triazacyclononane (9N3), with three attached [Ru(bipy)3]2+ groups, has a first photo excited state pKa of 7.1, and is a useful fluorescent sensor for physiological pH at below micromolar concentrations. The analogous derivative of cyclam (1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane) carrying four [Ru(bipy)3]2+ groups has a first photo excited state pKa of 5.7, allowing kinetic and thermodynamic fluorescence studies of metal ion uptake by an azamacrocycle at neutral pH without complications from protonated species. A pre-organised hexadentate tris(2,2′-bipyridyl) chelating ligand, 1,4,7-tris(2′,2″-bipyridyl-5′-ylmethyl)-1,4,7-triazacyclononane (L) has been developed, and crystal structures of mononuclear complexes [M(LH)]3+ (M = Ru, Cu) are reported. In [M(LH)]3+ the azamacrocyclic N-atoms are non-coordinating to M, but have a very high affinity for a single proton trapped in the macrocyclic cavity. An analogous and potentially nonadentate ligand has been developed based on 9N3 with three N-pendent terpyCH2-arms.  相似文献

Abstract

In our studies of the stability constants of metal complexes, we have investigated a number of macrocyclic ligands with pendant donor groups. The ligands are characterized by the fact that they have nitrogen donors in the macrocyclic ring and oxygen or sulfur donors in the pendant arms. These ligands represent seven different macrocycles, and by varying the pendant donor groups, ten different ligands are indicated. The affinities of these ligands for fifteen metal ions will be described. The Fe(III) complex of triazanonane with o-hydroxypyridyl or o-hydroxybenzyl pendant donor groups are the most stable ferric complexes ever reported. The In(III) complex of triazacyclononane with pendant mercaptoethyl donor groups, is exceptionally stable. Also, the Ca(II) complex of DOTA probably has the highest stability of any calcium(II) complex. These, and other comparisons will be made on the basis of the thermodynamic stability constant data for the ligands described.  相似文献

There has been much recent activity in the theory and application of separation by flotation, both in the United. States and abroad. This review primarily addresses new developments in foam flotation, colloid flotation and precipitate flotation. The work in ore flotation represents a major effort and would itself require a lengthy article. Work from ore flotation which significantly impacts on the areas of interest listed above is included here, however. Foam separation of biological materials and the microflotation of bacteria are not routinely discussed in this review. A few recent review articles on these areas are included at the end of the Review Articles and Books Section to afford the interested reader a start on that literature. The development and use of flotation separation techniques for waste treatment and water reuse over the last few years are included in this article.  相似文献

We report the measurement of the surface conductivity of biological macromolecules by dielectrophoretic trapping at the tip of a glass nanopipet. We find that the threshold voltage for trapping is a function of salt concentration and can be directly linked to the effective conductivity of the biomolecule and its solvation shell. The surface conductivities obtained for 20-mer single-stranded DNA, 40-mer double-stranded DNA, and yellow fluorescent protein are 7.9+/-1.9 nS, 5.3+/-0.7 nS, and 21.5+/-1.6 nS, respectively.  相似文献

The trivalent metal cations Al3+, Cr3+, and Fe3+ were each introduced, together with Sc3+, into MIL‐100(Sc,M) solid solutions (M=Al, Cr, Fe) by direct synthesis. The substitution has been confirmed by powder X‐ray diffraction (PXRD) and solid‐state NMR, UV/Vis, and X‐ray absorption (XAS) spectroscopy. Mixed Sc/Fe MIL‐100 samples were prepared in which part of the Fe is present as α‐Fe2O3 nanoparticles within the mesoporous cages of the MOF, as shown by XAS, TGA, and PXRD. The catalytic activity of the mixed‐metal catalysts in Lewis acid catalysed Friedel–Crafts additions increases with the amount of Sc present, with the attenuating effect of the second metal decreasing in the order Al>Fe>Cr. Mixed‐metal Sc,Fe materials give acceptable activity: 40 % Fe incorporation only results in a 20 % decrease in activity over the same reaction time and pure product can still be obtained and filtered off after extended reaction times. Supported α‐Fe2O3 nanoparticles were also active Lewis acid species, although less active than Sc3+ in trimer sites. The incorporation of Fe3+ into MIL‐100(Sc) imparts activity for oxidation catalysis and tandem catalytic processes (Lewis acid+oxidation) that make use of both catalytically active framework Sc3+ and Fe3+. A procedure for using these mixed‐metal heterogeneous catalysts has been developed for making ketones from (hetero)aromatics and a hemiacetal.  相似文献

The cooperativity of conformational transitions in strained linear polymer chain was investigated by the method of Brownian dynamics. Deformation of a chain consisting of N=32 and 64 bonds was created by strong external field of dipole type. Correlations are discussed in terms of hazard-plot analysis.  相似文献

Dibenzyl trisulfide (DTS) is a natural compound with potential cancer-preventive properties occurring in Petiveria alliacea L., an ethnomedicinal plant native to the Americas. Previous studies revealed its inhibitory activity toward cytochrome P450 (CYP)1 enzymes, key in the activation of environmental pollutants. Accordingly, the aim of this study was to design novel DTS analogues, aimed at improving not only inhibitory activity, but also specificity toward CYP1A1. This was achieved by targeting interactions with CYP1A1 residues of identified importance. Three-dimensional structures for the novel analogues were subjected to molecular docking with several CYP isoforms, before being ranked in terms of binding affinity to CYP1A1. With three hydrogen bond donors, two hydrogen bond acceptors, a molecular mass of 361 Da, and a log P of 3.72, the most promising DTS analogue obeys Lipinski's rule of five. Following synthesis and in vitro validation of its CYP1A1-inhibitory properties, this compound may be useful in future cancer-preventive approaches.  相似文献

Nanosized powders of Ti-Nb oxide core-shell nanocrystals with atomic ratios of Nb/Ti = 0.11, 0.25, and 0.38 have been prepared by two preparation routes. The first route was co-precipitation, followed by␣annealing, using NbCl5 as a source of Nb. The second route was coating of pure TiO2 nanocrystals by Nb-isopropoxide in liquid medium, followed by impregnation of the Nb into the nanoparticles by annealing. Both methods yielded anatase nanocrystals with a Nb-rich shell and a core, which had much lower Nb loadings. The anatase structure solid solution (with Nb incorporated) was stable under annealing up to 760°C. The particle size remained within the nanometric scale (<50 nm) under heat-treatment up to 760°C. It has been shown that the fabricated powders can be redispersed in aqueous media by simple ultrasound treatment, resulting in nanosized dispersions. Using a variety of analytical techniques, including depth profiling of single nanocrystallites by AES combined with sputtering by Ar ions, the mechanism of the core-shell structure creation was studied. It is proposed that the formation of the core-shell structure is governed by solubility limitations in the co-precipitation route and by solubility and diffusion limitations in the coating-incorporation route.  相似文献
