We demonstrate optical modes in InGaAs/GaAs microtubes acting as optical ring resonators. Self-supporting microtubes were fabricated by optical lithography and wet-etching processes utilizing the self-rolling mechanism of strained bilayers. The optical modes were probed by the photoluminescence of InAs quantum dots embedded in the tube's wall. In this novel microtube ring resonator we find a spectrum of sharp modes. They are in very good agreement with the theoretical results for a closed thin dielectric waveguide.  相似文献

We have measured the angular dependence of the p- and s-pollarized light scattered on films, which are supported by fine polished Suprasil substrates. To study the roughness of the surface we have varied the evaporation process and the thickness of the silver film. We quantitatively determine the roughness structure by using a non scalar scattering theory. The roughness structure is found in good agreement with measurements on the same films using ATR-techniques.  相似文献

Determination of sulfur in wine is an important analytical task, particularly with regard to food safety legislation, wine trade, and oenology. Hitherto existing methods for sulfur determination all have specific drawbacks, for example high cost and time consumption, poor precision or selectivity, or matrix effects. In this paper a new method, with low running costs, is introduced for direct, reliable, rapid, and accurate determination of the total sulfur content of wine samples. The method is based on measurement of the molecular absorption of carbon monosulfide (CS) in an ordinary air–acetylene flame by using a high-resolution continuum-source atomic-absorption spectrometer including a novel high-intensity short-arc xenon lamp. First results for total sulfur concentrations in different wine samples were compared with data from comparative ICP–MS measurements. The aim of this work is to show the possibility of non-intrusively exciting second-mode instability waves with arbitrary frequency and amplitude in a hypersonic, planar boundary layer, by means of optical methods. Surface heat flux sensors were used to measure natural and artificially excited instability waves on a flat plate at zero angle of attack. The measurements were made using a stream-wise array of flush-mounted high-frequency heat flux sensors. In addition, surface pressure sensors were applied and show the instability waves, as well. The possibility to generate such waves by locally heating the model surface is shown.  相似文献

We consider an O(N) version of a massive, interacting, chiral supersymmetry model solved exactly in the large N limit. We demonstrate that the system approaches a stable attractor at high energy densities, corresponding to a non-perturbative state for which the relevant field quanta are massless. The state is one of spontaneously broken O(N), which, due to the influence of supersymmetry, does not become restored at high energies. Introducing soft supersymmetry breaking to the Lagrangian results in scalar masses at the soft breaking scale ms independent of the mass scale of supersymmetry μ, with even smaller masses for the fermions.  相似文献

We report on the direct observation of confined acoustic phonons in the photoluminescence spectra of single CdSe-CdS-ZnS nanocrystals, whose ligands were exchanged to poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) before they were embedded in a PEO matrix. Modeling a nanocrystal as an elastic sphere, the confined acoustic modes can be assigned to purely radial vibrations: the breathing mode and its two first radial harmonics. In addition to acoustic modes, we also observe longitudinal optical modes of the core material and, remarkably, also of both shell materials.  相似文献

We have observed two-dimensional plasmons in hole space charge layers of silicon. On Si(110) surfaces the plasmon mass depends on the charge density and shows a significant anisotropy for different directions of the plasmon wavevector in the surface. The determination of the plasmon mass allows detailed informations on the anisotropic and nonparabolic 2-D bandstructure of hole space charge layers.  相似文献
