Crystallization kinetics of stable and metastable nitric acid trihydrate (NAT) were investigated by time dependent X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) measurements. Kinetic conversion curves were evaluated adopting the Avrami model. The growth and morphology of the respective crystallites were monitored in situ on the cryo-stage of an environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM) under a partial pressure of nitrogen gas (0.3 Torr, 40 Pa). The results show a close relationship between the presence of ice in the sample and the crystallization mechanism of NAT, which results in different shapes and sizes of NAT crystal particles.  相似文献

Diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopic (DRIFTS) measurements (4000-1500 cm(-1)) and the results of neutron powder diffraction have been combined to study the structure of adsorption complexes of water in a NaX zeolite at different water loadings (25, 48, 72, and 120 water molecules per unit cell, respectively). Sharp bands corresponding to non-hydrogen-bonded OH groups of water molecules and broad associate bands due to hydrogen-bonded molecules are observed in the DRIFT spectra. We observe a remarkable downshift of the high-frequency associate band in a narrow temperature interval when the water amount decreases from 120 to 72 molecules per unit cell, which could signify some kind of "phase transition" for the water inside the zeolite cavities. Neutron powder diffraction results show that water molecules are predominantly localized in or near the 12-ring windows. Water molecules with hydrogen-bonded and non-hydrogen-bonded OH groups were found, in agreement with the observation of sharp and broad bands in the DRIFT spectra. We find strong evidence for the formation of cyclic hexamers of water molecules localized in the 12-ring windows, which are further stabilized by hydrogen bonds to framework oxygen atoms.  相似文献

The phase behavior in the system of cationic modified poly(vinyl alcohol) (CPVA)-sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS)-water has been investigated. Samples were found phase separated near electroneutral mixing at CPVA concentrations < or =6%, while in a medium CPVA concentration of 7-12%, the phase separation disappeared and the system transformed into bluish homogeneous solution. At > or =13% CPVA concentrations, the mixed systems became colorless homogeneous. Preclouding phenomenon was observed in 5-8% CPVA-SDS mixed systems at an electroneutral mixing ratio. The addition of inorganic salts, such as Na2SO4, NaCl, NaBr, and NaSCN, could exclude the bluish and phase separation phenomenon that was found to be caused by the increase of clouding point in these systems. The clouding phenomenon was proven to be the origin of the phase separation in the CPVA-SDS mixed system. The ability for the inorganic salts to increase the clouding point follows the order of the Hofmeister series.  相似文献

Intermediate structures of the aggregates in the aqueous solution of an ABA-type silicone surfactant and in the process of an SDS-induced vesicle-micelle transition are reported. In single ABA silicone surfactant aqueous solutions, large multilamellar vesicles (MLV), small single lamellar vesicles (SLV), threadlike micelles (TLM), and spheroidal micelles were observed. Interestingly, a large amount of TLMs were found entrapped into the large MLVs, but not in SLVs. Disintegration of the small vesicles inside the MLVs indicates that the entrapped TLM are from the disintegrated membrane of the entrapped small vesicles. Addition of SDS induced a transition from vesicles or threadlike micelles to spheroidal micelles. The intermediate structures, such as the appearance of small holes in the vesicle membrane, the budding of threadlike micelles from the membrane fracture, and the clusters of spheroidal micelles, were observed with increase of the SDS concentration. The electrical conductivity measurements indicated that complex micelles of SDS and silicone surfactant were formed in the solution due to the interaction between the SDS and PEO part of the silicone surfactant.  相似文献

The photochemistry of 2,4,6-triphenylthiapyrylium, TPTP+, in an ionic liquid, bmim-PF6, and in zeolite Y has been investigated and compared. Fluorescence spectroscopy was used to characterize the singlet excited state and to demonstrate singlet quenching by dicyclopentadiene, DCP, as an electron donor. Time-resolved laser spectroscopy documents generation of the triplet excited state, 3TPTP+, and reduction by DCP, generating the corresponding radical, TPTP*, and radical ion, DCP+*. The highly polar media stabilize the organic intermediates, causing them to be long lived.  相似文献
