Photoswitching of holographic polymer-dispersed liquid crystals doped with chiral dopant

Chiral dopants were added to the formulation of holographic polymer-dispersed liquid crystals and the effects studied in terms of grating formation dynamics, morphology, diffraction efficiency, contrast ratio and electro-optical properties of the films. A gradual increase of real-time diffraction efficiency, decrease of droplet size and increase of diffraction efficiency of the composite film were obtained with the addition and increasing content of chiral dopant, due to the increased viscosity of the liquid crystal (LC) doped with the chiral dopant leading to decreased droplet coalescence. The contrast ratio decreased with increasing content of chiral dopant due to the difficult orientation of LC molecules caused by the formation of a helical structure. Addition of a small amount of the chiral dopant increased the driving voltage slightly, whereas the decay time is decreased significantly as a result of the high twisting of the helical structure.     

Some results on fractionaln-factor-critical graphs

A simple graphG is said to be fractionaln-factor-critical if after deleting anyn vertices the remaining subgraph still has a fractional perfect matching. For fractionaln-factor-criticality, in this paper, one necessary and sufficient condition, and three sufficient conditions related to maximum matching, complete closure are given.     

An efficient construction of period-2 bulbs in the cubic Mandelbrot set with parametric boundaries

A parametric boundary equation is established for the principal period-2 bulb in the cubic Mandelbrot set. Using its geometry, an efficient escape-time algorithm which reduces the construction time for the period-2 bulbs in the cubic Mandelbrot set is introduced and the implementation graphic results display the fascinating fractal beauty     

Locating and counting bifurcation points of satellite components from the main component in the degree-n bifurcation set

The bifurcation point where a satellite component buds from another component is characterized by the existence of the common tangent line between the two osculating components appearing in the degree-n bifurcation set. We investigate the existence, location and number of bifurcation points for satellite components budding from the main component in the degree-n bifurcation set as well as a parametric boundary equation of the main component of the degree-n bifurcation set. Cusp points are also located on the boundary of the main component. Typical degree-n bifurcation sets and their components are illustrated with some computational results.     

邻苯二甲酸二丁酯对雌二醇与血清组分结合的影响

利用紫外分光光度法测定了邻苯二甲酸二丁酯 (DBP)、雌二醇 (E2 )与血清组分 3种物质间两两结合的二元体系和三元体系结合常数。结果表明 ,DBP、血清组分和 E2 三者之间能两两结合 ,其中以 E2 与血清组分的结合能力最强。当三者处于同一体系中 ,随着 DBP浓度的增加 ,E2 与血清组分 - DBP二元体系间的结合常数也逐渐增加 ,其最大值高出正常 E2 与血清组分结合常数 (7.5 4× 10 4mol-1· L )近一个数量级。这表明 ,DBP的存在可能不会与 E2 对血清组分进行竞争结合 ,但由于本身的结合特点 ,会减少血液中游离E2 的含量 ,从而影响细胞内雌激素的平衡     

Dual effects of fullerene doped to holographic polymer dispersed liquid crystals

Doping of conductive fullerene particles to the formulation of conventional holographic polymer dispersed liquid crystal‐induced dual effects of reducing both droplet coalescence and operating voltage. Fullerene induced an induction period which otherwise does not exist, followed by a gradual increase of diffraction efficiency to a saturation value being increased with increasing fullerene content. The increased diffraction efficiency was caused by the decreased droplet coalescence which was due to the hindered migration of LC by the fullerene particles. On the other hand, doped fullerene particles augmented the conductivity of polymer phase and hence the local electrical field imposed on LC droplet, which overcome the threshold for driving and reduced operating voltage and response times. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Design of a widely tunable laser with a chirped ladder filter

We theoretically investigated a digitally tunable laser with a chirped ladder filter and a ring resonator to obtain a wide wavelength tuning range covering the whole C- or L- band. The clear relation between the tuning range and laser structure, especially the ladder filter, is described analytically. The introduction of a chirped structure into a ladder filter is effective in achieving both wide tunability and a stable lasing mode. A numerical simulation based on multimode rate equations shows that a tuning range of over 40 nm and a mode suppression ratio over 40 dB can be achieved by introducing a chirped ladder filter.     

Surface rumpling of cubic CaTiO3 from density functional theory

In this paper, the structure of cubic CaTiO3 （001） surfaces with CaO and TiO2 terminations has been studied from density functional calculations. It has been found that the Ca atom has the largest relaxation for both kinds of terminations, and the rumpling of the CaO-terminated surface is much larger than that of TiO2-terminated surface. Also we have found that the metal atom relaxes much more prominently than the O atom does in each layer. The CaO-terminated surface is slightly more energetically favourahle than the TiO2-terminated surface from the analysis of the calculated surface energy.     

用多焦点全息透镜实现多重谱分数傅里叶变换

提出用多焦点全息透镜实现多重谱分数傅里叶变换.利用全息方法通过一次曝光制作出多焦点的全息透镜,分析了用此全息元件实现这种变换的条件,并在实验上实现了多重谱分数傅里叶变换. 实验结果表明这种变换方法简便可行,可广泛应用于多通道光学信息处理系统及多目标图像识别系统中.     

Wilcoxon signed rank test using ranked-set sample

Ranked-set sampling is useful when measurements are destructive or costly to obtain but ranking of the observations is relatively easy. The Wilcoxon signed rank test statistic based on the ranked-set sample is considered. We compared the asymptotic relative efficiencies of the RSS Wilcoxon signed rank test statistic with respect to the SRS Wilcoxon signed rank test statistic and the RSS sign test statistic. Throughout the ARE’s, the proposed test statistic is superior to the SRS Wilcoxon signed rank test statistic and the RSS sign test statistic.
