A novel, pyrene‐functionalised copolymer has been synthesised in a single step via imidisation of poly(maleic anhydride‐alt‐1‐octadecene) with 1‐pyrenemethylamine, and its potential for the detection of volatile nitro aromatic compounds (NACs) evaluated. The new copolymer forms complexes in solution with NACs such as 2,5‐dinitrobenzonitrile, as shown by 1H NMR, UV‐vis and fluorescence spectroscopy. Moreover, thin films of this copolymer, cast from THF solution, undergo almost instantaneous fluorescence quenching when exposed to the vapour of 2,5‐dinitrobenzonitrile (a model for TNT) at ambient temperatures and pressures.

A novel norsesquiterpene glucoside ptesculentoside has been isolated from the Australian bracken Pteridium esculentum, together with the known bracken carcinogen ptaquiloside and lesser amounts of caudatoside. The structure of ptesculentoside is determined by analysis of 1D and 2D NMR spectra, and via its conversion into previously known pterosin G.  相似文献

A chiral bisurea‐based superhydrogelator that is capable of forming supramolecular hydrogels at concentrations as low as 0.2 mM is reported. This soft material has been characterized by thermal studies, rheology, X‐ray diffraction analysis, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and by various spectroscopic techniques (electronic and vibrational circular dichroism and by FTIR and Raman spectroscopy). The expression of chirality on the molecular and supramolecular levels has been studied and a clear amplification of its chirality into the achiral analogue has been observed. Furthermore, thermal analysis showed that the hydrogelation of compound 1 has a high response to temperature, which corresponds to an enthalpy‐driven self‐assembly process. These particular thermal characteristics make these materials easy to handle for soft‐application technologies.  相似文献

We have studied the growth kinetics of self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) ofoctadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (C18TAB) on mica below the critical micelle concentration at 22, 30, 40, and 50 degrees C. A combination of atomic force microscopy, contact angle goniometry, and transmission infrared spectroscopy was used to follow the growth processes to determine the rates involved in the growth of a C18TAB SAM on mica. The growth of a SAM consisted of four distinct processes: deposition of adsorbate molecules, growth of a disordered 2D liquid phase, nucleation of islands of an ordered 2D solid phase, and subsequent growth of the solid phase. The rates of these various processes are determined, and the activation energies for several processes were calculated including those for the adsorption onto a bare substrate (20 kJ/mol), adsorption into the saturated liquid phase (100 kJ/mol), and nucleation of islands (0.3 kJ/mol). Despite the small activation barrier to island nucleation, the nucleation rate is qualitatively slow, suggesting that entropic effects dominate the nucleation rate.  相似文献

The calcium-dependent antibiotic (CDA), from Streptomyces coelicolor, is an acidic lipopeptide comprising an N-terminal 2,3-epoxyhexanoyl fatty acid side chain and several nonproteinogenic amino acid residues. S. coelicolor grown on solid media was shown to produce several previously uncharacterized peptides with C-terminal Z-dehydrotryptophan residues. The CDA biosynthetic gene cluster contains open reading frames encoding nonribosomal peptide synthetases, fatty acid synthases, and enzymes involved in precursor supply and tailoring of the nascent peptide. On the basis of protein sequence similarity and chemical reasoning, the biosynthesis of CDA is rationalized. Deletion of SCO3229 (hmaS), a putative 4-hydroxymandelic acid synthase-encoding gene, abolishes CDA production. The exogenous supply of 4-hydroxymandelate, 4-hydroxyphenylglyoxylate, or 4-hydroxyphenylglycine re-establishes CDA production by the DeltahmaS mutant. Feeding analogs of these precursors to the mutant resulted in the directed biosynthesis of novel lipopeptides with modified arylglycine residues.  相似文献

Molecular confinement plays a significant effect on trapped gas and solvent molecules. A fundamental understanding of gas adsorption within the porous confinement provides information necessary to design a material with improved selectivity. In this regard, metal–organic framework (MOF) adsorbents are ideal candidate materials to study confinement effects for weakly interacting gas molecules, such as noble gases. Among the noble gases, xenon (Xe) has practical applications in the medical, automotive and aerospace industries. In this Communication, we report an ultra-microporous nickel-isonicotinate MOF with exceptional Xe uptake and selectivity compared to all benchmark MOF and porous organic cage materials. The selectivity arises because of the near perfect fit of the atomic Xe inside the porous confinement. Notably, at low partial pressure, the Ni–MOF interacts very strongly with Xe compared to the closely related Krypton gas (Kr) and more polarizable CO2. Further 129Xe NMR suggests a broad isotropic chemical shift due to the reduced motion as a result of confinement.  相似文献

The reduction of a variety of highly functionalized N-acylated dihydropyrazoles (1) with BH3 x pyridine is described. The process through which this unexpectedly difficult reduction was discovered and developed is reported. A facile atom-efficient route to the N-acylated dihydropyrazole reduction precursors (1) is also illustrated. The resulting acylpyrazolidine products (2) that arise upon reduction were isolated in good to high yields following exposure to reaction conditions which have been shown to tolerate a variety of different functional groups. Finally, this route has been demonstrated on a kilogram scale and provides direct access to potential proline surrogates for peptidomimetic applications.  相似文献

The structure and dynamics of the interfacial layers between the extremely pure air- and water-stable ionic liquid 1-butyl-1-methylpyrrolidinium tris(pentafluoroethyl)trifluorophosphate and Au(111) has been investigated using in situ scanning tunneling microscopy, cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and atomic force microscopy measurements. The in situ scanning tunnelling microscopy measurements reveal that the Au(111) surface undergoes a reconstruction, and at -1.2 V versus Pt quasi-reference the famous (22 × √3) herringbone superstructure is probed. Atomic force microscopy measurements show that multiple ion pair layers are present at the ionic liquid/Au interface which are dependent on the electrode potential. Upon applying cathodic electrode potentials, stronger ionic liquid near surface structure is detected: both the number of near surface layers and the force required to rupture these layers increases. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy results reveal that three distinct processes take place at the interface. The fastest process is capacitive in its low-frequency limit and is identified with electrochemical double layer formation. The differential electrochemical double layer capacitance exhibits a local maximum at -0.2 V versus Pt quasi-reference, which is most likely caused by changes in the orientation of cations in the innermost layer. In the potential range between -0.84 V and -1.04 V, a second capacitive process is observed which is slower than electrochemical double layer formation. This process seems to be related to the herringbone reconstruction. In the frequency range below 1 Hz, the onset of an ultraslow faradaic process is found. This process becomes faster when the electrode potential is shifted to more negative potentials.  相似文献
