Coronopus didymus (Brassicaceae) commonly known as lesser swine cress has been reported to be used for its pharmacological activities. This study aimed to evaluate the medicinal potential of C. didymus extracts against cancer, diabetes, infectious bacteria and oxidative stress and the identification of bioactive compounds present in these extracts. The effects of using different solvents for the extraction of C. didymus on the contents of major polyphenols and biological activities were investigated. Plant sample was shade dried, ground to a fine powder, and then soaked in pure acetone, ethanol and methanol. The highest contents of major polyphenols were found in methanol-based extract, i.e., chlorogenic acid, HB acid, kaempferol, ferulic acid, quercetin and benzoic acid with 305.02, 12.42, 11.5, 23.33, 975.7 and 428 mg/g of dry weight, respectively, followed by ethanol- and acetone-based extracts. The methanol-based extract also resulted in the highest antioxidant activities (56.76%), whereas the highest antiproliferative (76.36) and alpha glucosidase inhabitation (96.65) were demonstrated in ethanol-based extracts. No antibacterial property of C. didymus was observed against all the tested strains of bacteria. Further studies should be focused on the identification of specific bioactive compounds responsible for pharmacological activities. 相似文献

This paper deals with the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow of an Oldroyd 8-constant fluid in a porous medium when no-slip condition is no longer valid. Modified Darcy's law is used in the flow modelling. The non-linear differential equation with non-linear boundary conditions is solved numerically using finite difference scheme in combination with an iterative technique. Numerical results are obtained for the Couette, Poiseuille and generalized Couette flows. The effects of slip parameters on the velocity profile are discussed. 相似文献

This paper investigates the asymptotical stability of Riemann‐Liouville q‐fractional neutral systems with mixed delays (constant time delay and distributed delay). By constructing some appropriate Lyapunov‐Kravsovskii functionals, some sufficient conditions on delay‐dependent and delay‐independent asymptotical stability are obtained in terms of linear matrix inequality (LMI). Our employed method is based on the direct calculation of quantum derivatives of the Lyapunov‐Kravsovskii functionals. Analytic solution for unsteady magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow is constructed in a rotating non-Newtonian fluid through a porous medium. Constitutive equations for a Maxwell fluid have been taken into consideration. The hydromagnetic flow in the uniformly rotating fluid is generated by a suddenly moved infinite plate in its own plane. Analytic solution of the governing flow problem is obtained by means of the Fourier sine transform. It is shown that the obtained solution satisfies both the associate partial differential equation and the initial and boundary conditions. The solution for a Navier-Stokes fluid is recovered if λ→0. AbstractThe focus of this work is to extract a natural dye for colouring camel wool as a substitute for synthetic dyes used in the Sadu House of Kuwait. Their target is to keep the tradition of tent and rug production natural in all its manifestations. Therefore, our task was to find an abundant source that provides a colour preferably red to purple. Hibiscus rosa sinensis (HRS) is an abundantly available plant in Kuwait that was explored for extraction of the red dye to colour camel wool permanently. The powdered petals of red flowers of HRS was extracted with 5% acetic acid which yielded a deep red colour that showed a great potential for woollen fibre dyeing. The use of mordants like alum and some metal salts manifested a wide range of fixed colours which intensified at 85 °C. The colours produced had excellent fastness and was accepted by the Sadu House. 相似文献

The problem of unsteady boundary layer flow of a second grade over a stretching sheet is investigated in this paper. The governing equations of motion are reduced into a partial differential equation with two independent variables by using similarity transformations. The heat transfer analysis has been also carried out for two heating processes namely the prescribed surface temperature (PST case) and prescribed surface heat flux (PHF case). The series solutions of the problem are developed by employing homotopy analysis method (HAM). Convergence of the obtained series solutions are analyzed. It is noted that the present solutions of a second grade are valid for all dimensionless times. Finally, the results are obtained and discussed through graphs for various parameters of interest. 相似文献

AbstractIn the present paper, we focus on a stochastic predator-prey model with stage structure for prey. Firstly, by using the stochastic Lyapunov function method, we obtain sufficient conditions for the existence and uniqueness of an ergodic stationary distribution of the positive solutions to the model.
