When speech is in competition with interfering sources in rooms, monaural indicators of intelligibility fail to take account of the listener's abilities to separate target speech from interfering sounds using the binaural system. In order to incorporate these segregation abilities and their susceptibility to reverberation, Lavandier and Culling [J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 127, 387-399 (2010)] proposed a model which combines effects of better-ear listening and binaural unmasking. A computationally efficient version of this model is evaluated here under more realistic conditions that include head shadow, multiple stationary noise sources, and real-room acoustics. Three experiments are presented in which speech reception thresholds were measured in the presence of one to three interferers using real-room listening over headphones, simulated by convolving anechoic stimuli with binaural room impulse-responses measured with dummy-head transducers in five rooms. Without fitting any parameter of the model, there was close correspondence between measured and predicted differences in threshold across all tested conditions. The model's components of better-ear listening and binaural unmasking were validated both in isolation and in combination. The computational efficiency of this prediction method allows the generation of complex "intelligibility maps" from room designs.  相似文献

We report the characteristics of current induced frequency modulation (FM) for two continuous-wave quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) at 9.06 μm. Both the frequency tuning rate and the phase shift between intensity modulation and FM are measured at different modulation frequencies from 10 Hz to 200 kHz. The frequency tuning rate of the QCLs depends on both the modulation frequency and amplitude. The tested QCL has been used to detect ambient water vapor with wavelength modulation spectroscopy for validation with a numerical model.  相似文献

A novel potentially useful second harmonic generation (SHG) organometallic nonlinear optical (NLO) crystal: cadmium mercury thiocyanate bis(N-methylformamide), CdHg(SCN)4(C2H5NO)2 (CMTN), has been prepared, and large high-optical-quality single crystals with dimensions up to 30 ×27×9 mm3 have been grown by the temperature-lowering method. Its structural, physicochemical and optical properties are characterized by elemental analyses, X-ray powder diffraction, Fourier transform infrared and Raman spectroscopy, thermal analysis, powder SHG measurements and UV/Vis/NIR transmission. The specific heat has been determined to be 515.5 J?mol?1?K?1 at 300 K. CMTN possesses good physicochemical stability up to 128.5°C, exhibits powder SHG efficiencies 0.8 times that of urea and its UV transparency cutoff is 358 nm. By the use of the DFT/B3LYP/6-31G(d) method, the microscopic second order NLO behavior of CMTN has been investigated by computing the first-order hyperpolarizability together with that of CdHg(SCN)4 (CMTC) and CdHg(SCN)4(C3H8O2) (CMTG) crystals. A software synchronous optical sampling system is constructed based on sum frequency generation (SFG) in periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN). Five gigahertz of a non-return-to-zero (NRZ) data signal is sampled by sampling pulse with the repetition frequency of 29.31 MHz. The power of the SFG light is set at 23 dBm, and an eye diagram is successfully recovered. A band-pass filter is added before the sampling pulse is subjected to erbium-doped fiber amplifier to reduce gain competition and ensure a high power level of SFG.  相似文献

Biomimetic compound eyes with a high numerical aperture on a curved surface were successfully fabricated by intelligent integration of traditional top-down and bottom-up micro- and nanofabrication methods together. In addition, the new hybrid micro- and nanofabrication method allows us to fabricate the antireflective nanostructures on each ommatidium to increase its vision sensitivity by improving the light transmission. The fabricated compound eye was optically characterized and was shown to have a numerical aperture of 0.77 for each ommatidium. Furthermore, it is shown that the transmission of the compound eye can be improved by 2.3% for the wavelength of 632.8 nm and a clearer image can be formed by the fabricated compound eye with antireflective nanostructures compared with that without antireflective nanostructures. In addition, the developed hybrid manufacturing method can be adapted to the fabrication of other complex micro- and nanodevices for photonics or other research areas.  相似文献

We verify the feasibility of the proposed theoretical strategy for designing the broadband near-zero permittivity (ENZ) metamaterial at optical frequency range with numerical simulations. In addition, the designed broadband ENZ stack is used as meta-atoms to build functional nanophotonic devices with extraordinary properties, including an ultranarrow electromagnetic energy tunneling channel and an ENZ concave focusing lens.  相似文献

This paper presents a multi-functional all-optical device performs simultaneous chromatic dispersion (CD) monitoring, extinction ratio (ER) improvement and tunable wavelength conversion using four-wave mixing (FWM) in a single piece of highly nonlinear optical fiber (HNLF). The multi-functional ability arises from the nonlinear power transfer function (PTF) between the input signal and the output idler wave, which not only maps the CD information of the signal onto the average power of idler wave, but also transfers the data information to the idler wave with ER enhancement, making the device compact and cost effective. Furthermore within the wavelength tuning range the monitoring sensitivity and output ER can be much higher compared to all optical monitors and regenerators proposed before. Numerical simulations are then used to demonstrate the efficiency of this method.  相似文献

The Bi–Tm co-doped SiO2–Al2O3–La2O3 (SAL) glasses, which exhibited a broadband near-infrared (NIR) emission was investigated by the optical absorption and photoluminescence spectra. The super broadband near-infrared emission from 1000 to 2100 nm, which covered the whole O, E, S, C and L bands, was observed in the Bi–Tm co-doped samples, as a result of the overlap of the Bi-related emission band (centered at 1270 nm) and the emission from Tm3+ 3H43F4 transition (1440 nm) as well as Tm3+ 3F43H6 transition (1800 nm). Relative luminescence intensity at 1270, 1440 and 1800 nm wavelength varied depending on the mixing ratio of Bi and Tm and the full-width at half-maximum (FWHM) extending from 1000 to 1600 nm could be 400 nm. These results indicated that Bi–Tm co-doped SiO2–Al2O3–La2O3 glasses could provide potential applications in tunable lasers as well as the broadband optical amplifiers in WDM system.  相似文献

A multiparty quantum secret sharing scheme based on Bell measurement is proposed and analyzed. In this scheme, all agents are not required to prepare entangled states or perform any local unitary operation. The security of the protocol is also analyzed. It is shown that any eavesdropper will introduce errors invariably and be detected if he tries to steal information about Trent’s secret. Moreover, because no classical bit needs to be transmitted except those for detection, the total efficiency of the scheme approaches to 100%.  相似文献

This paper presents the latest development of a lead-free piezoelectric ceramic and its application to transducers suitable for high-frequency ultrasonic imaging. A lead-free piezoelectric ceramic with formula of (K0.5Na0.5)0.97Li0.03(Nb0.9 Ta0.1)O3 (abbreviated as KNLNT-0.03/0.10) was fabricated and characterized. The material was found to have a clamped dielectric constant ε33S/ε0 = 890, piezoelectric coefficient d33 = 245 pC/N, electromechanical coupling factor kt = 0.42 and Curie temperature Tc > 300 °C. High-frequency (40 MHz) ultrasound transducers were successfully fabricated with the lead-free material. A representative lead-free transducer had a bandwidth of 45%, two-way insertion loss of -18 dB. This performance is comparable to reported performances of popular lead-based transducers. The comparison results suggest that the lead-free piezoelectric material may serve as an alternative to lead-based piezoelectric materials for high-frequency ultrasonic transducer applications.  相似文献
