A bag-like model for kinematic corrections to structure functions

Within a hadron bag valence quarks have a distribution of momenta, which, at low energies allows the kinematic scaling violations in deep inelastic scattering to be calculated. Using a simple model for this distribution we can succesfully account for the data between 2 and 6 (GeV/c)². At higher momenta, “non-kinematic” effects are required.     

Hyperfine spectroscopy using transverse modulated optical pumping

Population inversion is observed between the field independent, ground hyperfine states of ⁸⁷Rb using an optical pumping technique which is applicable to a large number of species of atoms and ions. Inversion occurs upon a coherent transfer of angular momentum to the ⁸⁷Rb spin system from circularly polarized light propagating in a transverse direction to a magnetic field. Coherenc is established by modulating, at certain frequencies, the light intensity or magnetic field strength.     

Heterocyclic Synthesis with Enamines: Convenient Syntheses of Polyfunctionally Substituted Pyrazole,Pyridine, Pyrimidine and Pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimrdine Derivatives

Facile syntheses of pyrazole, pyridine, pyrimidine and pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidine derivatives have been achieved by the reaction of β-enamino nitrile 2a with hydrazines, phenyl isothiocyanate, thiourea and active methylene reagents. The β-enamino ketone 2e with the same reagents affords 3,5-dimethyl heterocyclic ring systems.     

2-dimensional localization of acoustic waves in random perturbation of periodic media

In this work we study internal band edges localization of acoustic waves in 2-dimensional space obtained by random perturbation of some periodic media. Our results rely on the study of Lifshitz tails for the integrated density of states for random acoustic operators of the form . Localization is then deduced by the standard multiscale argument.
