Penning trap assisted decay spectroscopy of neutron-rich 115Ru

Exotic, neutron-rich ¹¹¹Mo and ¹¹⁵Ru nuclei, produced in proton-induced fission of ²³⁸U target, were separated with the IGISOL mass separator. The separator was coupled to the JYFLTRAP Penning trap to select the ions of a single, desired element out of the isobaric IGISOL beam. Monoisotopic samples of ¹¹⁵Ru and ¹¹¹Mo ions were observed with a microchannel plate detector after the trap or were implanted on a catcher foil for gamma- and beta-ray coincidence spectroscopy. In spite of short data taking time new gamma transitions were identified in the beta decay of very neutron-rich ¹¹⁵Ru.     

Mass measurements of neutron-deficient radionuclides near the end-point of the rp-process with SHIPTRAP

Direct mass measurements of nuclides near to the supposed end-point region of the astrophysical rp-process were performed at SHIPTRAP, the Penning trap mass spectrometer at GSI Darmstadt. The masses of 24 nuclides were measured with relative uncertainties between 5 ^. 10^-8 and 2 ^. 10^-7 . Three of them, ¹⁰⁷Sb , ¹¹¹I and ¹¹²I , were determined experimentally for the first time. The data analysis and mass evaluation are presented in detail.     

A trinuclear bright red luminophore containing cyclometallated Ir(III) motifs

The trinuclear complex [{Ir(ppy)(2)}(3)(L(1))(2)](OTf)(3) (1) is a bright red luminophore whereas the monomer [Ir(ppy)(2)L(2)](OTf) (2) exhibits emission in the green region.     

Scenario of Accelerating Universe: Role of Phenomenological Λ Models

Dark matter, the major component of the matter content of the Universe, played a significant role at early stages during structure formation. But at present the Universe is dark energy dominated as well as accelerating. Here, the presence of dark energy has been established by including a time-dependent Λ term in the Einstein’s field equations. This model is compatible with the idea of an accelerating Universe so far as the value of the deceleration parameter is concerned. Possibility of a change in sign of the deceleration parameter is also discussed. The impact of considering the speed of light as variable in the field equations has also been investigated by using a well known time-dependent Λ model.     

Reactor decay heat in 239Pu: solving the γ discrepancy in the 4-3000-s cooling period

The β feeding probability of (102,104,105,106,107)Tc, 105Mo, and 101Nb nuclei, which are important contributors to the decay heat in nuclear reactors, has been measured using the total absorption technique. We have coupled for the first time a total absorption spectrometer to a Penning trap in order to obtain sources of very high isobaric purity. Our results solve a significant part of a long-standing discrepancy in the γ component of the decay heat for 239Pu in the 4-3000 s range.     

QEC values of the superallowed beta emitters 50Mn and 54Co

Using a new fast cleaning procedure to prepare isomerically pure ion samples, we have measured the beta-decay Q(EC) values of the superallowed beta emitters 5(0)Mn and (54)Co to be 7634.48(7) and 8244.54(10) keV, respectively, results which differ significantly from the previously accepted values. The corrected Ft values derived from our results strongly support new isospin-symmetry-breaking corrections that lead to a higher value of the up-down quark mixing element V(ud) and improved confirmation of the unitarity of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix.     

Scope of the radical addition-cyclization-elimination reaction of oxime ether towards the synthesis of tricyclic lactam derivatives

The synthesis of tricyclic lactam building blocks by the radical addition-cyclization-elimination (RACE) reaction is presented. A range of oxime ethers carrying unsaturated ester part have been tested for the radical reaction. A variety of substituents were incorporated around the aromatic backbones and their effect on the RACE reaction has been examined. In addition, the power of RACE reaction is demonstrated by preparation of a key intermediate for the synthesis of constrained analogue of methoctramine.
