Cycloaddition of oxetane and carbon dioxide catalyzed by tetraphenylstibonium iodide

Trimethylene carbonate was readily obtained in the reaction of oxetane and carbon dioxide in the presence of tetraphenylstibonium iodide.     

Polarization memory of luminescence from photo-generated carriers in aSixC1−x:H (x∼0.2)

Photoluminescence of aSi_xC_1?x:H (x～0.2) is studied with a particular interest on the localization of carriers. Taking the polarization memory of luminescence as a probe, we clarify the localized character of photo-generated carriers as functions of excitation photon energy, emitted photon energy, temperature and time. The picosecond time-resolved measurement of the polarization memory is shown useful to study dynamical relaxation processes of carriers in disordered systems.     

Non-integrability of the truncated Toda lattice Hamiltonian at any order

Two sufficient conditions for the non-existence of an additional analytic integral are given for Hamiltonian systems with non-homogeneous polynomial potential of an arbitrary degree. An application is made to the truncated three-particle Toda lattice, which is proved to be non-integrable at any order.     

Selective INEPT,a new technique for the 13C NMR assignment of methylene carbons with non-equivalent protons,and its application to the analysis of the 13C NMR spectrum of monensin

A new method based on the combination of selective proton decoupling and INEPT is explained in detail. This technique, named selective INEPT (SEL-INEPT), is a useful and sensitive method for the ¹³C NMR assignment of methylene carbons with non-equivalent protons. The ¹³C NMR spectrum of monensin has been analysed by the application of this technique.     

A potentiometric study on complex formation of cadmium(II) ion with 2-mercaptoacetic and 2-mercaptopropionic acids

Complex equilibria between cadmium ions and 2-mercaptoacetic acid (H₂maa) or 2-mercaptopropionic acid (H₂mpa) have been studied in aqueous solutions containing 3 mol dm^?3 LiClO₄ as a constant ionic medium at 25°C by potentiometric titration. Formation constants of mono-η and bis-2-mercaptoalkanoato)cadmium complexes were found to ge log K₁₁ = 4.34 and log K₁₂ = 2.15 for the cadmium-H₂maa complexes, and log K₁₁ = 5.66 and log K₁₂ = 2.85 for the cadmium-H₂mpa complexes, respectively. The protonated complexes, CdHmaa⁺ and CdHmpa⁺, and a mixed ligand complex, Cd(maa)(mpa)²- were also detected.     

On a class of special flows

Summary A special flow, in which the basic automorphism is a Bernoulli automorphism and the ceiling function depends only on the present position of the Bernoulli sequence and is not lattice distributed, is a K-flow.This paper represents the result, in a revised form, which was presented at the Symposium on Ergodic Theory held at Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach from August 4 to 10, 1968.

The first success of an X-ray analysis of a thiabenzene derivative, 1-benzoyl-2-methyl-2-thianaphthalene is described.     

Spectroscopic study of a brush cathode plasma in a magnetic field

The brush cathode helium discharge in the magnetic field has been operated stably at discharge currents larger than those without magnetic field. The diameter of the plasma column has been determined by the configuration of the magnetic field. The measurements of the spectral intensities of the recombination continuum followed by the 2³S-n³P series reveals that the electron density is 1·8 × 10¹³ cm^-3 and the electron temperature is 0·17 eV at a discharge current of 500 mA and a pressure of 0·9 torr for a magnetic flux density of 1·3 kG. The principal quantum number for line merging is 20.
