2 MeV protons and 1 MeV carbon ions are bombarded on highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) samples and their electronic transport measurements are carried out in the presence of magnetic field. The Magneto-Resistance (MR) measurements show measurable hysteresis in the resistance value after ion beam irradiation for the in-plane magnetic field direction as well as for the out-of-plane field direction. The MR depends on the thickness of the flake and the method of its separation from the bulk HOPG. The results substantiate that the ferromagnetic coupling between the magnetic moments at the vacancy defect sites in HOPG sensitively depends on the average defect separation. The average defect separation range of 1.7–0.5 nm allows only a part of the 40 μm thick proton beam irradiated sample to go for ferromagnetic ordering. Similar conclusions are drawn from carbon ion irradiated HOPG flake. The irradiation increases the resistance of the flake as well. 相似文献

Differential evolution (DE) is a well known and simple population based probabilistic approach for global optimization over continuous spaces. It has reportedly outperformed a few evolutionary algorithms and other search heuristics like the particle swarm optimization when tested over both benchmark and real world problems. DE, like other probabilistic optimization algorithms, has inherent drawback of premature convergence and stagnation. Therefore, in order to find a trade-off between exploration and exploitation capability of DE algorithm, a new parameter namely, cognitive learning factor (CLF) is introduced in the mutation process. Cognitive learning is a powerful mechanism that adjust the current position of individuals by the means of some specified knowledge (previous experience of individuals). The proposed strategy is named as cognitive learning in differential evolution (CLDE). To prove the efficiency of various approaches of CLF in DE,?CLDE is tested over 25 benchmark problems. Further, to establish the wide applicability of CLF,?CLDE is applied to two advanced DE variants. But, DE, like other probabilistic optimization algorithms, sometimes exhibits premature convergence and stagnates at suboptimal point. In order to avoid stagnation behavior while maintaining a good convergence speed, a new position update process is introduced, named fitness based position update process in DE. In the proposed strategy, position of the solutions are updated in two phases. In the first phase all the solutions update their positions using the basic DE and in the second phase, all the solutions update their positions based on their fitness. In this way, a better solution participates more times in the position update process. The position update equation is inspired from the Artificial Bee Colony algorithm. The proposed strategy is named as Fitness Based Differential Evolution ( $FBDE$ ). To prove efficiency and efficacy of $FBDE$ , it is tested over 22 benchmark optimization problems. A comparative analysis has also been carried out among proposed FBDE, basic DE, Simulated Annealing Differential Evolution and Scale Factor Local Search Differential Evolution. Mechanical mismatch between vascular grafts and blood vessels is a major cause of smaller diameter vascular graft failure. To minimize this mismatch, several poly‐l ‐lactide‐co‐ε‐caprolactone (PLC) copolymers are evaluated as candidate materials to fabricate a small diameter graft. Using these materials, tubular prostheses of 4 mm inner diameter are fabricated by dip‐coating. In vitro static and dynamic compliance tests are conducted, using custom‐built apparatus featuring a closed flow system with water at 37 °C. Grafts of PLC monomer ratio of 50:50 are the most compliant (1.56% ± 0.31?mm Hg?2), close to that of porcine aortic branch arteries (1.56% ± 0.43?mm Hg?2), but underwent high continuous dilatation (87 µm min?1). Better matching is achieved by optimizing the thickness of a tubular conduit made from 70:30 PLC grafts. In vivo implantation and function of a PLC 70:30 conduit of 150 µm wall‐thickness (WT) are tested as a rabbit aorta bypass. An implanted 150 µm WT PLC 70:30 prosthesis is observed over 3 h. The recorded angiogram shows continuous blood flow, no aneurysmal dilatation, leaks, or acute thrombosis during the in vivo test, indicating the potential for clinical applications. 相似文献
