Summary A global LSER model that relates HPLC retention to mobile phase composition and pH is tested for a varied group of solutes,
both neutral and ionizable, in a polymeric column and methanol-water mobile phases. It is compared to the local LSER model
developed only for a given mobile phase, i.e., a fixed organic modifier content, and to the global LSER model set only for
neutral solutes. The global LSER model for neutral and ionizable solutes requires a few supplementary parameters over the
other models tested, but it accounts for retention under any experimental conditions for a given column and methanol-water
mobile phases, describing properly the interactions established in the HPLC system (hydrophobicity, hydrogen-bond acidity
and basicity, dipolarity/polarizability…).

A study was carried out to determine optimum decontamination dose for a locally manufactured coconut cream powder. Samples were gamma irradiated (0–15 kGy) and ageing process was achieved using GEER oven at 60 °C for 7 days, which is equivalent to one-year storage at room temperature. Iodine value (IV), ranging from 4.8 to 6.4, was not affected by radiation doses and storage, however peroxide value and thiobarbituric acid (TBA) generally increased with radiation doses. In most samples, peroxide value (meq/kg) reduced after storage, whilst the TBA (mg malonaldehyde/kg), indicator for product quality, slightly increased. The sensory evaluation conducted using 25 taste panellists indicated that scores on odour, creamy taste and overall acceptance for all irradiated samples at more than 5 kGy were significantly lower (P<0.05) than the control. However, the panellists could not detect any significant differences among the irradiation doses (P>0.05). All stored products were significantly different in colour, creamy taste, odour and overall acceptance (P<0.05) when compared to the non-stored non-irradiated control. Microbiological count of the samples prior to irradiation was in the range of 1×102–1.7×103 cfu/g with no detection of Salmonella sp. and Escherichia coli. No microbial colonies were detected after irradiation. Based on the TBA and overall sensory acceptance, gamma irradiation of 5 kGy was found to be the optimum dose and lower doses can be considered to decontaminate coconut cream powder. 相似文献

We have performed functional genomics of salt stress by overexpression of gene libraries in yeast and selection for salt tolerance. Thirty halotolerance genes were isolated from yeast, Arabidopsis, and sugar beet. Summary The solution of the Schrödinger equation for diatomic molecules when the finite element method is used gives the possibility to evaluate highly accurate basis-independent potential energy curves. In this work such types of numerically accurate potential energy curves on the HF level have been evaluated for Li2, Na2 and K2 and could be used as benchmarks in the optimization of basis sets. A comparison between recent LCAO HF calculations in which extended basis sets are used and the accurate values determined in this work show that there is a difference in total energy of 4×10–5 and 10–3 a.u. for Li, Li2, and Na, Na2, respectively. Evaluated dissociation energies are, however, due to the cancellation of numerical errors in much better agreement. Further, it is found that different exchange correlation potentials for the heavier molecules such as those given by von Barth-Hedin and Vosko, Wilk and Nusair reproduce experimental properties such as dissociation energies, vibrational frequencies almost as well as those achieved with advanced CI methods. The redox condensation of [Ir(CO)4]–, [Ir(cod)(THF)2]+, and [Rh(cod)(THF)2]+ (cod = cycloocta-1,5-diene) followed by saturation with CO (1 atm) in THF afforded the first synthetic route to pure [Ir3Rh(CO)12] ( 1 ). Substitution of CO by monodentate ligands gave [Ir3Rh(CO)8(μ2-CO)3L] (L = Br–, 2 ; I–, 3 ; bicyclo[2.2.1]hept-2-ene, 4 ; PPh3, 5 ). Clusters 2 – 5 have Cs symmetry with the ligand L bound to the basal Rh-atom in axial position. They are fluxional in solution at the NMR time scale due to two CO scrambling processes: the merry-go-round of basal CO's and changes of basal face. An additional process takes place in 5 above room temperature: the intramolecular migration of PPh3 from the Rh- to a basal Ir-atom. Substitution of CO by polydentate ligands gave [Ir3Rh(CO)7–x(μ2-CO)3(η4-L)x] (L = bicyclo[2.2.1]hepta-2,5-diene (= norbornadiene; nbd), x = 1, 6 ; L = nbd, x = 2, 13 ; L = cod, x = 1, 7 ; L = cod x = 2, 15 ), [Ir3Rh(CO)7(μ2-CO)3(η2-diars)] (diars = 1,2-phenylenebis-(dimethylarsine); 8 ), [Ir3Rh(CO)7(μ2-CO)3(η4-L)] (L = methylenebis(diphenylphosphine), bonded to 2 basal Ir-atom ( 9a ) or one Ir- and one Rh-atom ( 9b )), [Ir3Rh(CO)6(μ2-CO)3(η4-nbd)PPh3] ( 12 ), and [Ir3Rh(CO)6(μ2-CO)3(μ3-L)] (L = 1,3,5-trithiane, 10 ; L = CH(PPh2)3, 11 ). Complexes 6 – 8 , 9a , 10 , and 11 have Cs symmetry, the others C1 symmetry. They are fluxional in solution due to CO scrambling processes involving 1, 3, or 4 metal centres as deduced from 2D-EXSY spectra. Comparison of the activation energies of these processes with those of the isostructural Ir4 and Ir2Rh2 compounds showed that substitution of Ir by Rh in the basal face of an Ir4 compound slows the processes involving 3 or 4 metal centres (merry-go-round and change of basal face), but increases the rate of carbonyl rotation about an Ir-atom. 相似文献

The l-azabicyclo[2.2.1]heptan-3-exo-ol ( 2 ) was resolved by fractional crystallisation of its hydrogen tartrate salts. The enantiomers (+)- and (?)- 2 were oxidised to the ketones (?)- 4 and (+)- 4 , respectively (Scheme). CD spectroscopy suggested that (?)- 4 possesses the (1R,4S)-configuration. Fulvene-Dieters: Synthesis, Structure Elucidation and Thermal Behaviour In contrast to earlier assumptions, thermal reaction of pure fulvene ( 1a ), 6-methylfulvene ( lb ) and 6, 6-dimethylfuivene ( 1c ) at 227deg; gives oligomeric mixtures consisting mainly of the endo-[4 + 2]-eycloaddition products 2a , 2b and 2c . Thermal reactivity of the fulvenes decreases strongly in the series 1a > 1b > 1c . While the dimers 2b and 2c equilibrate very easily in solution above room temperature with 1b and 1c , respectively, 2a equilibrates with the isomer 5a (? 1, 6-Dimethyliden3a α, 3bβ, 6a α, 6bβ-tetrahydro-1-H), 6 H-bi (cyclopentadienylen). The elution of ions from a C18 column with mobile phases containing methanol (60%, v/v) and aqueous buffers is studied by mass spectrometry. It is demonstrated that the anions are excluded from the stationary phase by the ionized silanols. However, the ionized silanols interact strongly with cations, which are retained in the column. These cations are later eluted from the column by ion exchange with the cations present in the pH buffered mobile phase. The size of the ions, the mobile phase cation concentration and the mobile phase pH are the main parameters that affect elution of the retained cations. It is also demonstrated that there are at least two different types of ionizable silanols, with different acidities, that contribute to the retention of cations. An estimate of the pKa values of these two groups of silanols in 60% methanol is given. 相似文献
