We present a first-principles density functional theory study on the structural, electronic and dynamical properties of a novel barium doped graphene phase. Low energy electron diffraction of barium doped graphene presents clear evidence of (2 × 2) spots induced by barium adatoms with BaC8 stoichiometry. First principles calculations reveals that the phase is thermodynamically stable but unstable to segregation towards the competitive BaC6 monolayer phase. The calculation of phonon spectrum confirms the dynamical stability of the BaC8 phase indicating its metastability, probably stabilized by doping and strain conditions due to the substrate. Barium induces a relevant doping of the graphene π states and new barium-derived hole Fermi surface at the M-point of the (2 × 2) Brillouin zone. In view of possible superconducting phase induced by foreign dopants in graphene, we studied the electron–phonon coupling of this novel (2 × 2) obtaining λ = 0.26, which excludes the stabilization of a superconducting phase.  相似文献

This study shows how applying compressed sensing (CS) to (19)F chemical shift imaging (CSI) makes highly accurate and reproducible reconstructions from undersampled datasets possible. The missing background signal in (19)F CSI provides the required sparsity needed for application of CS. Simulations were performed to test the influence of different CS-related parameters on reconstruction quality. To test the proposed method on a realistic signal distribution, the simulation results were validated by ex vivo experiments. Additionally, undersampled in vivo 3D CSI mouse datasets were successfully reconstructed using CS. The study results suggest that CS can be used to accurately and reproducibly reconstruct undersampled (19)F spectroscopic datasets. Thus, the scanning time of in vivo(19)F CSI experiments can be significantly reduced while preserving the ability to distinguish between different (19)F markers. The gain in scan time provides high flexibility in adjusting measurement parameters. These features make this technique a useful tool for multiple biological and medical applications.  相似文献

Novel multifunctional ceria based materials may show an improved performance in catalytic processes involving CO2 activation and reforming of hydrocarbons. Towards a more detailed understanding of the underlying surface chemistry, we have investigated CO2 activation on single crystal based ceria and magnesia/ceria model catalysts. All model systems are prepared starting from well-ordered and fully stoichiometric CeO2(111) films on a Cu(111) substrate. Samples with different structure, oxidation state and compositions are generated, including CeO2-x/Cu(111) (reduced), MgO/CeO2-x/Cu(111) (reduced), mixed MgO-CeO2/Cu(111) (stoichiometric), and mixed MgO-CeO2-x/Cu(111) (reduced). The morphology of the model surfaces is characterized by means of scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), whereas the electronic structure and reactivity is probed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The experimental approach allows us to compare the reactivity of samples containing different types of Ce3+, Ce4+, and Mg2+ ions towards CO2 at a sample temperature of 300 K. Briefly, we detect the formation of two CO2-derived species, namely carbonate (CO3 2-) and carboxylate (CO2 -) groups, on the surfaces of all investigated samples after exposure to CO2 at 300 K. In parallel to formation of the carbonate species, slow partial reoxidation of reduced CeO2-x/Cu(111) occurs at large doses of CO2. The reoxidation of the reduced ceria is largely suppressed on MgO-containing samples. The tendency for reoxidation of Ce3+ to Ce4+ by CO2 decreases with increasing degree of intermixing between MgO and CeO2-x. Additionally, we have studied the stability of the formed carbonate species as a function of annealing temperature.  相似文献

An important role of the morphology of a superconducting layer in the superconducting spin-valve effect has been established. The triplet pairing induced by the superconductor/ferromagnet proximity effect has been experimentally investigated for samples CoOx/Py1/Cu/Py2/Cu/Pb (where Py = Ni0.81Fe0.19) with a smooth superconducting layer. The optimization of the parameters of this structure has demonstrated a complete switching between the normal and superconducting states with a change in the relative orientation of magnetizations of the ferromagnetic layers from the antiparallel to orthogonal orientation. A pure triplet contribution has been observed for the sample with a permalloy layer thickness at which the superconducting spin-valve effect vanishes. A direct comparison of the experimental data with the theoretical calculation of the temperature of the transition to the superconducting state has been performed for the first time.  相似文献
