A fast, general, environmentally friendly, and facile method for preparation of 5, 5-disubstituted hydantoins from the reaction between ketone (or aldehyde) derivatives with KCN and ammonium carbonate under microwave irradiation is presented. The microwaves remarkably accelerated this reaction, the reaction times decreased dramatically, the reaction conditions were milder, and the yields were also greater. Also a comparative study of microwave versus classical conditions has been done. All the products were characterized by infrared, NMR, and CHN analysis, and their melting points are identical to those of the known compounds reported in the literature. This method might be useful in the future for the preparation of similar derivatives. [Supplementary materials are available for this article. Interaction of tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide (TTAB), octylophenylpolyoxyethylene ether (TX-100), sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS), N,N′-ditetradecyl-N,N,N′,N′-tetramethyl-N,N′-butanediyl-diammonium dibromide (14,4,14) and N,N′-didodecyl-N,N,N′,N′-tetramethyl-N,N′-butanediyl-diammonium dibromide (12,4,12) with an anionic diazo dye, Congo Red, was investigated using conductometry, spectroscopy, tensiometry, and pulsed field gradient NMR (PFG-NMR). The formation of dye-surfactant ion pairs, their small mixed aggregates (below the critical micelle concentration (CMC) of these surfactants) and surfactant micelles were detected successfully. Above the CMC, the dye reverted to its monomeric state and solubilized in the micelles. Job's method was used to determine the stoichiometric ratio of dye and surfactant in ion pairs and revealed the formation of more hydrophile ion pairs for geminis compared to their conventional analogs. Quantitative results obtained from tensiometry indicated the existence of considerable synergism for cationic surfactants and antagonism for anionic SDS. In addition, the synergism observed for TX-100 revealed the effect of π-π stacking and hydrophobic forces on ion pair and mixed micelle formation. The increase of dye-surfactant interactions by increasing the electrical charge and chain length of cationic surfactants confirmed the importance of both electrostatic and hydrophobic forces in binary dye/surfactant systems. The hydrodynamic radii of the micelles were determined by self-diffusion coefficient measurements. The average size of the cationic and nonionic micelles increased in the presence of CR molecules. 相似文献

The electromagnetism-like method (EM) is a meta-heuristic algorithm utilizing an attraction-repulsion mechanism to move sample
points towards optimality in continuous optimization problems. Traditionally, the EM uses two algorithms known as the original
and revised EMs. This paper presents a novel hybrid approach for EM by employing a well-known local search, called Solis and
Wets. To show the performance of our proposed hybrid EM, a number of experiments are carried out on a set of well-known test
problems and the related results are compared with two forgoing algorithms. 相似文献

The phase behavior and aggregate structures of mixtures of the oppositely charged surfactants cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) are explored at high dilution by pulsed field gradient stimulated echo (PFG-STE) NMR. The aggregation numbers and hydrodynamic radii of vesicles and mixed micelles were determined by a combination of viscosity and self-diffusion coefficient measurements. The average size of the mixed micelles was larger than that of micelles containing uniformly charged head groups. Analysis of the variations of the self-diffusion coefficient and viscosity with changing concentration of CTAB or SDS in the cationic-rich and anionic-rich regions revealed a phase transition from vesicles to mixed micelles. Differences in the lengths of the CTAB and SDS hydrophobic chains stabilize vesicles relative to other microstructures (e.g., liquid crystalline and precipitate phase), and vesicles form spontaneously over a wide range of compositions in both cationic-rich and anionic-rich solutions. The results obtained from conductometry measurements confirmed this transition. Finally, according to the capacitor model, a new model was developed for estimating the surface potentials and electrostatic free energy (g(elec)). Then we investigated the variations of electrostatic and transfer free energy in phase transition between mixed micelle and vesicle. 相似文献

In this paper, we propose a novel three-objective mathematical model and a solution procedure for optimizing fleet planning
for rail-cars in a railway industry. These objectives are to: (1) minimize the sum of the cost related to service quality,
(2) maximize profit calculated as the difference between revenues generated by serving customer demand and the combined costs
of rail-car ownership and rail-car movement and, (3) minimize the sum of the rail-car fleet sizing, simultaneously. The Pareto
optimal set is depicted and used for a trade-off analysis. A number of numerical examples are given to illustrate the presented
model and solution methodology. 相似文献

Mixtures of alkyltrimethylammonium bromide (CnTAB, n=12, 14, 16, 18) and Triton X-100 were studied at a range of mole fractions of ionic surfactant per nonionic surfactant. For each mixture, the cmc obtained from surface tension measurements differed from that obtained using potentiometry. The behavior of these mixed-surfactant systems showed three different regions with increasing total surfactant concentration. From the surface tension and potentiometry data, we obtained the free monomer concentration of ionic surfactant (mi), the micellar mole fraction of surfactant (xi), and the degree of dissociation (alpha) of ionic surfactant. We also obtained the free monomer concentration of Triton X-100 (m2) using PFG-NMR technique. A new equation was introduced to evaluate the activity coefficient in the micellar phase. The excess free energy (GE) and the synergetic parameters of mixtures were determined at various mole fractions of CnTAB/Triton X-100. Finally, the complexity of the synergism parameters was investigated. 相似文献

In this study, the copper sulfide nanoparticles (CuS‐NPs) and the zinc oxide/zinc hydroxide nanoparticles ((ZnO/Zn(OH)2‐NPs) were synthesized by a simple and low‐cost method, and the synthesized nanoparticles were characterized and identified by UV–Vis, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE‐SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X‐ray diffraction (XRD). The antimicrobial activity of the CuS‐NPs and the ZnO/Zn(OH)2‐NPs were examined by broth dilution to determine the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of antibacterial agent required to inhibit the growth of a pathogen and the minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) required to kill a particular bacterium. Agar disc diffusion method was used to determine the zone of inhibition. The nanoparticles demonstrated potent antibacterial activity against Klebsiella pneumonia (ATCC 1827), Acinetobacter baumannii (ATCC 150504), Escherichia coli (ATCC 33218) and Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 25293). Antifungal activity against Aspergillus oryzae (PTCC 5164) was also obtained. The data obtained from antimicrobial activities by broth dilution and agar disc diffusion methods exhibited the CuS‐NPs were more effective than the ZnO/Zn(OH)2‐NPs. A good correlation was observed between the data obtained by both methods. 相似文献

Results from three-dimensional lattice Monte Carlo simulations of amphiphile–solvent mixtures are presented. The chemical
potential is derived from the monomer distribution in different clusters rather than using a Widom particle insertion approach.
The effect of tail and head characteristics on the non-ideality of these systems, aggregation number, and premicellar phenomena
is considered. The aggregation number and CMC behavior of the simulated amphiphilic systems are compared with existing experimental
results for non-ionic amphiphiles. Two kinds of polydispersity changing with total concentration of surfactants are observed
which are related to phase transition phenomena. Shape variations in clusters are studied by calculating the eigenvalues of
the gyration matrix; it is shown that large clusters are non-spherical. With the Maclaurin’s expansion of activity coefficient
into volume fraction, the distribution of excess chemical potential with changing aggregation number is considered. Study
of the degree of non-ideality of these amphiphiles reveals that asymmetric amphiphiles are characterized by greater non-ideality
than symmetric amphiphiles. Goldstein’s parameters are calculated taking non-ideality into consideration. The difference between
the phenomenological model and the simulation data is investigated. 相似文献

In the present work, the adsorption behavior at the liquid-air interface and micellization characteristics of mixtures of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and p-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl) polyoxyethylene (TritonX-100) in aqueous media containing different concentrations of NaBr were investigated by surface tension and potentiometry measurements. From plots of surface tension (gamma) as a function of solution composition and total surfactant concentration, we determined the critical micelle concentration (CMC), minimum surface tension at the CMC (gamma(CMC)), surface excess (Gamma(max)), and mean molecular surface area (A(min)). On the basis of regular solution theory, the compositions of the adsorbed film (Z) and micelles (X(M)) were estimated, and then the interaction parameters in the micelles (beta(M)) and in the adsorbed film phase (beta(sigma)) were calculated. For all mole fraction ratios, the results showed synergistically enhanced ability to form mixed micelles as well as surface tension reduction. Furthermore beta was calculated by considering nonrandom mixing and head group size effects. It was observed that, for both the planar air/aqueous interface and micellar systems, the nonideality decreased as the amount of electrolyte in the aqueous medium was increased. This was attributed to a decrease of the surface charge density caused by increasing the concentration of bromide ions. 相似文献
