The sequential conversion of [OsBr(cod)Cp*] (9) to [OsBr(dppe)Cp*] (10), [Os([=C=CH2)(dppe)Cp*]PF6 ([11]PF6), [Os(C triple bond CH)(dppe)Cp*] (12), [{Os(dppe)Cp*}2{mu-(=C=CH-CH=C=)}][PF6]2 ([13](PF6)2) and finally [{Os(dppe)Cp*}(2)(mu-C triple bond CC triple bond C)] (14) has been used to make the third member of the triad [{M(dppe)Cp*}2(mu-C triple bond CC triple bond C)] (M = Fe, Ru, Os). The molecular structures of []PF6, 12 and 14, together with those of the related osmium complexes [Os(NCMe)(dppe)Cp*]PF6 ([15]PF6) and [Os(C triple bond CPh)(dppe)Cp*] (16), have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies. Comparison of the redox properties of 14 with those of its iron and ruthenium congeners shows that the first oxidation potential E1 varies as: Fe approximately Os < Ru. Whereas the Fe complex has been shown to undergo three sequential 1-electron oxidation processes within conventional electrochemical solvent windows, the Ru and Os compounds undergo no fewer than four sequential oxidation events giving rise to a five-membered series of redox related complexes [{M(dppe)Cp*}2(mu-C4)]n+ (n = 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4), the osmium derivatives being obtained at considerably lower potentials than the ruthenium analogues. These results are complimented by DFT and DT DFT calculations.  相似文献

We report here the synthesis and crystal and electronic structures of the Na(2)(Sc(4)Nb(2))(Nb(6)O(12))(3) niobium oxide whose structure is related to that of Ti(2)Nb(6)O(12). It constitutes a new member of the larger A(n)()BM(6)L(12)(Z) families (A = monovalent cation located in tetrahedral cavities of units, B = monovalent or trivalent cations located in octahedral cavities of units, M = rare earth, Zr, or Nb, Z = interstitial except for M = Nb). The structural relationships between the A(n)BM(6)L(12)(Z) series (M(6)L(i)(12)L(a)(6) unit-based compounds with a M(6)L(i)(6)L(i-a)(6/2)L(a-i)(6/2) cluster framework) and Chevrel Phases (M(6)L(i)(8)L(a)(6) unit-based compounds with a M(6)L(i)(2)L(i-a)(6/2)L(a-i)(6/2) cluster framework) are shown in terms of M(6)L(18) and M(6)L(14) unit packing. Despite a topology similar to that encountered in Chevrel Phases, intercalation properties are not expected in the Nb(6)O(i)(6)O(i-a)(6/2)O(a-i)(6/2) cluster framework-based compounds. Finally, it is shown, from theoretical LMTO calculations, that a semiconducting behavior is expected for a maximum VEC of 14 in the Nb(6)O(i)(6)O(i-a)(6/2)O(a-i)(6/2) cluster framework.  相似文献

The (p-R-phenyl)dimesitylboranes (R=Me(2)N, MeO, MeS, Br, I), (p-R-phenylethynyl)dimesitylboranes (R=Me(2)N, MeO, MeS, H), (E)-[2-(p-R-phenyl)ethenyl]dimesitylboranes (R=Me(2)N, H(2)N, MeO, MeS, H, CN, NO(2)), (E)-[2-(2-thienyl)ethenyl]dimesitylborane, and (E)-[2-(o-carboranyl)ethenyl]dimesitylborane have been prepared through the reaction of the appropriate p-R-phenyl- and p-R-phenylethynyllithium reagents with dimesitylboron fluoride and by hydroboration of the appropriate p-R-phenylacetylene, 2-ethynylthiophene, and o-ethynylcarborane with dimesitylborane. Their UV/Vis absorption and emission spectra have been recorded in a range of solvents with the fluorescence maxima of the donor-substituted compounds in particular exhibiting large bathochromic shifts in highly polar solvents, indicative of charge transfer leading to large dipole moments in the excited state. The molecular structures of the (p-R-phenyl)dimesitylboranes (R=Me(2)N, MeO, MeS, Br, I), the (E)-[2-(p-R-phenyl)ethenyl]dimesitylboranes (R=Me(2)N, H(2)N MeO, MeS, H), (p-R-phenylethynyl)dimesitylborane (R=Me(2)N), and (E)-[2-(2-thienyl)ethenyl]dimesitylborane, which have been determined from single-crystal X-ray diffraction measurements, offer evidence of increased conjugation in the ground state with increased donor strength of the R substituent. Their first- and second-order molecular hyperpolarizabilities have been obtained from EFISH and THG measurements, the first-order hyperpolarizabilities being largest for the strongest R-substituent donors. AM1 calculations have been performed on these compounds, showing reasonable agreement with the experimentally obtained bond lengths and hyperpolarizabilities, as well as on several related hypothetical compounds containing multiple C==C bonds, most of which are proposed to have even larger hyperpolarizabilities.  相似文献

DFT calculations were carried out at the BP86/LANL2DZ level of theory to probe the structures and relative stabilities of small and medium size ligated palladium clusters. Results show that optimized geometries satisfactorily mimic experimental structural data. Observed cluster electron counts generally deviate from the expected Wade–Mingos electron counts because of the presence of several non-conical T-shaped \({\hbox {ML}}_{3}\) fragments in the clusters. These species are thermodynamically stable with substantial HOMO–LUMO gaps.  相似文献

The new [(η(2)-dppe)(η(5)-C(5)Me(5))Fe(C≡C-1,4-C(6)H(4)C≡C)Ru(η(2) -dppe)(2) C≡C(C(6)H(5))] complex (3-H) and its hexanuclear relative [{(η(2)-dppe)(η(5)-C(5) Me(5))Fe(C≡C-1,4-C(6)H(4)-C≡C)Ru(η(2)-dppe)(2)(C≡C-1,4-C(6)H(4)C≡C)(3)(1,3,5-C(6)H(3))] (4) have been synthesized and characterized. The linear and cubic nonlinear optical properties of these compounds in their various redox states have been studied along with those of the analogous complexes [(η(2)-dppe)(η(5)-C(5)Me(5))Fe(C≡C-1,4-C(6)H(4)C≡C)Ru(η(2)-dppe)(2)R][PF(6)](n) (n=0-2; R=Cl, 2-Cl; R=C≡C(4-C(6)H(4)NO(2)),3-NO(2)). We show that molecules exhibiting large third-order nonlinearities can be obtained by assembling such dinuclear Fe/Ru units around a central 1,3,5-substituted C(6)H(3) core. These data are discussed with a particular emphasis on the large changes in their nonlinear (third-order) optical properties brought about by oxidation. Experimental and computational (DFT) evidence for the electronic structures of these compounds in their various redox states is presented using 3-H(n+) as a prototypical model. Single crystals of this complex in its mono-oxidized state (3-H[PF(6)]) provide the first structural data for such carbon-rich Fe(III) /Ru(II) heteronuclear mixed-valent (MV) systems. Although experimental evidence for the structure of the dioxidized states was more difficult to obtain, the theoretical study reveals that 3-H(2+) can be considered to have a biradical structure with two independent spins. The low-lying absorptions that appear in the near-infrared (NIR) range for all these compounds following oxidation correspond to intervalence charge-transfer (IVCT) bands for the mono-oxidized states and to ligand-to-metal charge-transfer (LMCT) transitions for the dioxidized states. These play a crucial role in the strong optical modulation achieved. The possibility of accessing additional states with distinct linear or nonlinear optical properties is also briefly discussed.  相似文献

Building on earlier work that showed the formation of [1-Cp*-2,2,2-(CO)3-2-THF-nido-1,2-IrMoB(4)H(8)], 2, from the reaction of [1-Cp*-arachno-1-IrB(4)H(10)], 1, with (arene)Mo(CO)3, the stoichiometric mechanism for the generation of [1-Cp*-5,6,7,8-(R)4-nido-1,5,6,7,8-IrC(4)B(3)H(3)], 8, from the reaction of 2 with RCCR, R = Me, Ph, has been identified. For R = Me, the major product in solution is [1-Cp*-5,6,7,8-(CH3)4-closo-1,5,6,7,8-IrC(4)B(3)H(3)Mo(CO)3], 7, which is in equilibrium with 8. The equilibrium 8 + Mo(THF)3(CO)3 <==> 7 + 3THF is characterized by DeltaH = 8 kcal/mol and DeltaS = 34 cal/mol K. Density functional theory calculations carried out on 7 indicate that the Mo(CO)3 moiety is weakly bound to the cluster mainly through Mo-C rather than Mo-B interactions. Under alkyne deficient conditions, the product [1-Cp*-2,2,2-(CO)3(mu-CO)-3,4-(CH3)2-closo-1,2,3,4-IrMoC(2)B(3)H(3)], 6, can be isolated. Solid-state structures of 1 and 2 have been reported previously, and those of 6, 7, and 8, R = Me, Ph, are reported here. The evolution of products with time was monitored by 1H and 11B NMR and showed the formation and decay of two additional species which have been identified as the structural isomers [1-Cp*-7,7,7-(CO)3-7-THF-2,3-(CH3)2-nido-1,7,2,3-IrMoC(2)B(3)H(5)], 4, and [5-Cp*-7,7,7-(CO)3-7-THF-2,3-(CH3)2-nido-5,7,2,3-IrMoC(2)B(3)H(5)], 5, with the metals nonadjacent in 4 and adjacent in 5. Circumstantial evidence suggests that 4 is the precursor to 5 and 5 is the precursor to both 6 and 7. Cluster 2 also is a catalyst or catalyst precursor for the isomerization of olefins, namely, hex-1-ene to cis-hex-2-ene and tetramethyl allene to 2,4-dimethylpenta-1,3-diene. These novel results also establish that [1-Cp*-2,2,2-(CO)3-2-(alkyne)-nido-1,2-IrMoB(4)H(8)], 3, forms from 2 and constitutes a logical precursor to 4. The entire process, 1 + 2alkyne = 8 + BH3 + 2H2, which is promoted by (arene)Mo(CO)3, constitutes an explicit example of a transition-metal-facilitated process analogous to metal-facilitated organic transformations observed in organometallic chemistry.  相似文献

The Cs3Mo6Ii6Ii2-xSeixIa6 series has been obtained by a solid-state route. There is evidence for a solid solution between the compositions Cs3Mo6Ii6Ii0.8Sei1.2Ia6 and Cs3Mo6Ii6Ii0.4Sei1.6Ia6 (space group: R3c, Z=6; a=16.7065(4), c=20.5523(4) A, V=4967.8(2) A3 and a=16.6354(3), c=20.5444(4) A, V=4923.7(2) A3, respectively). The structure of this new series is based on magnetic [Mo6Ii6Sei2Ia6]3- and diamagnetic [Mo6Ii7SeiIa6]3- units with 23 and 24 valence electrons per Mo6 cluster, respectively. For a particular x, the structure of Cs3Mo6Ii6Ii2-xSexIa6 is based on a mixture of (x-1) [Mo6Ii6Sei2Ia6]3- with (2-x) [Mo6Ii7SeiIa6]3-. This leads to an average [Mo6Ii6Ii2-xSexIa6]3- ionic unit deduced from single-crystal X-ray diffraction investigations. The two inner positions of the average face-capped [Mo6Ii8-xSeixIa6]3- ionic units (located on the threefold axis of the unit) are randomly occupied by iodine and selenium, whereas the other ligand positions are fully occupied by iodine. Low-temperature electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) studies reveal a signal split into two components with g||>gperpendicular. The reciprocal double integration intensity of the EPR signal versus T graph reveals a typical Curie law behavior. A density functional theory (DFT) study indicates that occupation of the inner position on the threefold axis by selenium atoms is preferred energetically among the three possible distributions of selenium atoms. The comparison of experimental and theoretical g values confirms the crystallographic analysis and agrees with the axial elongation of the Mo6 cluster within the crystal structure.  相似文献

Quadrupolar oligothiophene chromophores composed of four to five thiophene rings with two terminal (E)‐dimesitylborylvinyl groups ( 4 V – 5 V ), and five thiophene rings with two terminal aryldimesitylboryl groups ( 5 B ), as well as an analogue of 5 V with a central EDOT ring ( 5 VE ), have been synthesized via Pd‐catalyzed cross‐coupling reactions in high yields (66–89 %). Crystal structures of 4 V , 5 B , bithiophene 2 V , and five thiophene‐derived intermediates are reported. Chromophores 4 V , 5 V , 5 B and 5 VE have photoluminescence quantum yields of 0.26–0.29, which are higher than those of the shorter analogues 1 V – 3 V (0.01–0.20), and short fluorescence lifetimes (0.50–1.05 ns). Two‐photon absorption (TPA) spectra have been measured for 2 V – 5 V , 5 B and 5 VE in the range 750–920 nm. The measured TPA cross‐sections for the series 2 V – 5 V increase steadily with length up to a maximum of 1930 GM. We compare the TPA properties of 2 V – 5 V with the related compounds 5 B and 5 VE , giving insight into the structure–property relationship for this class of chromophore. DFT and TD‐DFT results, including calculated TPA spectra, complement the experimental findings and contribute to their interpretation. A comparison to other related thiophene and dimesitylboryl compounds indicates that our design strategy is promising for the synthesis of efficient dyes for two‐photon‐excited fluorescence applications.  相似文献
