Using a high-contrast (10(10):1) and high-intensity (10(21) W/cm(2)) laser pulse with the duration of 40 fs from an optical parametric chirped-pulse amplification/Ti:sapphire laser, a 40 MeV proton bunch is obtained, which is a record for laser pulse with energy less than 10 J. The efficiency for generation of protons with kinetic energy above 15 MeV is 0.1%.  相似文献

We shall focus on extended defect systems and review their critical behavior. Primarily, with two aims, one of which is to understand phase transitions and how to derive effective dimension of extended defects with various structures, and the other is to propose a new research-method for defect systems, we let extended defects grow on a triangular lattice with frustration in a similar fashion to diffusion-limited aggregation, and discuss the situation. The existence of phase transitions, phase diagram, effective defect dimension, etc. will be shown. Furthermore, we shall summarize theoretical studies of extended defect systems on phase diagrams, critical behavior, tricritical behavior, and crossover behavior as static properties, and on nonconserved systems and conserved systems as dynamic properties.  相似文献

Photomediated force between quantum dots (QDs) is theoretically studied. An attractive (repulsive) interparticle radiation force (IRF) arises by selectively exciting the lower (higher) split state of coupled polaritons in QDs. Since these states are analogous to bonding and antibonding states of a diatomic molecule, we term this system the "polaritonic molecule (PM)". IRF in PM states is controlled by the photon energy, polarization, and phase at each QD. This mechanism can be used to probe internal quantum properties of nano-objects and to manipulate collective dynamics of QDs.  相似文献

The transient heat transfer behavior in the case of heat removal from a cylindrical heat storage vessel packed with spherical particles was investigated experimentally for various factors (flow rate, diameter of spherical particles packed, temperature difference between flowing cold air and spherical particles accumulating heat, and physical properties of spherical particles). The experiments were covered in ranges of Reynolds number based on the mean diameter of spherical particles packed Red = 10.3–2200, porosity?=0.310 to 0.475, ratio of spherical particle diameter to cylinder diameterd/D = 0.0075–0.177 and ratio of length of the cylinder to cylinder diameterL/D=2.5–10. It was found that especially the flow rate and the dimension of spherical particles played an important role in estimating the transient local heat transfer characteristics near the wall of the cylindrical vessel in the present heat storage system. As flow rate and diameter of spherical particles were increased under a given diameter of the cylinder heat storage vessel, the mean heat transfer coefficient between the flow cold air and the hot spherical particles increased and the time period to finish removing heat from the vessel reduced. In addition, the useful experimental correlation equations of mean heat transfer coefficient between both phases and the time period to finish removing heat from the vessel were derived with the functional relationship of Nusselt numberNu d=f [modified Prandtl numberPr * (d/D), Red) and Fourier numberFo = f(d/D, L/D, Pr*, Red).  相似文献

We report the development of a millimeter-wave electron-spin-resonance (ESR) measurement system at the University of Fukui using a 3He/4He dilution refrigerator to reach temperatures below 1 K. The system operates in the frequency range of 125–130 GHz, with a homodyne detection. A nuclear-magnetic-resonance (NMR) measurement system was also developed in this system as the extension for millimeter-wave ESR/NMR double magnetic-resonance (DoMR) experiments. Several types of Fabry–Pérot-type resonators (FPR) have been developed: A piezo actuator attached to an FPR enables an electric tuning of cavity frequency. A flat mirror of an FPR has been fabricated using a gold thin film aiming for DoMR. ESR signal was measured down to 0.09 K. Results of ESR measurements of an organic radical crystal and phosphorous-doped silicon are presented. The NMR signal from 1H contained in the resonator is also detected successfully as a test for DoMR.  相似文献

Fluorescent properties of 1,2,3,4-tetrachloro-11H-isoindolo-[2,1-a]-benzimidazol-11-one (TCIB) in various organic solutions are described. Detailed investigation of the fluorescence from the solutions revealed that it was ascribable to the electronic transition from the lowest singlet excited state of an isolated molecule to its ground state, though the fluorescence spectrum was broad and structureless and the Stokes’ shift was about 1 eV. The absorption peak of TCIB was relatively insensitive to change in solvent polarity, whereas its fluorescence peak shifted to the red with an increase in the polarity. This finding suggests that the dipole moment of the molecule in the ground state is almost zero, and that the excited state has a non-zero dipole moment, which coincides with the predicted semiempirical molecular orbital calculation. Fluorescence quantum efficiency decreased with increase of solvent polarity. The efficiency was reduced by a factor of 39 in going from n-hexane solution to acetonitrile solution. The radiative rate constant also decreased with increase of solvent polarity. However, its reduction was very moderate; the reduction factor was only 2.5 for acetonitrile solution as compared with n-hexane solution. This finding indicates that the emitting state of the title compound is influenced by a solvent-dependent non-radiative mechanism, for which solvent-sensitive intersystem-crossing deactivation is tentatively proposed.  相似文献

We observed the electric quadrupole interaction of 12B implanted in the interstitial site of TiO2 using β-NMR method. The electric field gradients including the direction of the principal axes were determined. The direction agreed well with the theoretical calculation.  相似文献

POSMOL 2015, the XVIII International Workshop on Low-EnergyPositron and Positronium Physics and the XIX International Symposium on Electron-MoleculeCollisions and Swarms, was held at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, Lisboa, Portugal, from17–20 July 2015. The international workshop and symposium allowed to achieve a veryprivileged forum of sharing and developing our scientific expertise on current aspects ofpositron, positronium and antiproton interactions with electrons, atoms, molecules andsolid surfaces, and related topics, as well as electron interactions with molecules inboth gaseous and condensed phases. Particular topics include studies of electroninteractions with biomolecules, electron induced surface chemistry and the study of plasmaprocesses. Heterochiral islands, in which topological dipoles are oppositely directed, are observed in freestanding antiferroelectric (SmC A *) films. The topological dipoles in films with a transverse electric polarization and a planar molecule orientation at island boundaries are coplanar with an electric field. The topological dipoles in films with a longitudinal polarization and a planar orientation at island boundaries are perpendicular to an electric field. For a radial director orientation at island boundaries, the topological dipoles in films with a longitudinal polarization are coplanar with a field. Changing the orientation of an electric field, we can control the position of a topological defect at an island boundary and the orientation of a topological dipole. Heterochiral islands can form dimers with an anomalously small interisland distance.  相似文献
