It can be conjectured that the colored Jones function of a knot can be computed in terms of counting paths on the graph of
a planar projection of a knot. On the combinatorial level, the colored Jones function can be replaced by its weight system.
We give two curious formulas for the weight system of a colored Jones function: one in terms of the permanent of a matrix
associated to a chord diagram, and another in terms of counting paths of intersecting chords.

We study a class of shape optimization problems for semi-linear elliptic equations with Dirichlet boundary conditions in smooth
domains in ℝ2. A part of the boundary of the domain is variable as the graph of a smooth function. The problem is equivalently reformulated
on a fixed domain. Continuity of the solution to the state equation with respect to domain variations is shown. This is used
to obtain differentiability in the general case, and moreover a useful formula for the gradient of the cost functional in
the case where the principal part of the differential operator is the Laplacian.

The photoluminescence properties of the Bi3+ in sol-gel derived ZnTiO3 nanocrystals have been investigated. An ultra-violet emission at 360 nm and a visible emission band at 506 nm have been observed, originating from two kinds of emission centers. The former is ascribed to the 3P1-1S0 transition of Bi3+ and the latter to the recombination of the electrons with the photo-generated holes trapped in the zinc vacancies. The sound field both in the loudspeaker box and in the room is calculated by an analytical solution of three-dimensional wave equation. It is shown in theory that the amplitude response in small rooms is affected by the following positions: driver position on the front panel of the box, box position in the room, absorption material position in the box and absorption material position on the interior walls of the room. Abnormalities in the cochlear function usually cause broadening of the auditory filters which reduces the speech intelligibility. An attempt to apply a spectral enhancement algorithm has been undertaken to improve the identification of Polish vowels by subjects with cochlear-based hearing-impairment. The identification scores of natural (unprocessed) vowels and spectrally enhanced (processed) vowels has been measured for hearing-impaired subjects. It has been found that spectral enhancement improves vowel scores by about 10% for those subjects, however, a wide variation in individual performance among subjects has been observed. The overall vowels identification scores obtained were 85% for natural vowels and 96% for spectrally enhanced vowels. 相似文献

We study the elastic responses of double-(ds) and single-stranded (ss) DNA at external force fields. A double-strand-polymer
elastic model is constructed and solved by path integral methods and Monte Carlo simulations to understand the entropic elasticity,
cooperative extensibility, and supercoiling property of dsDNA. The good agreement with experiments indicates that short-ranged
base-pair stacking interaction is crucial for the stability and the high deformability of dsDNA. Hairpin-coil transition in
ssDNA is studied with generating function method. A threshold force is needed to pull the ssDNA hairpin patterns, stabilized
by base pairing and base-pair stacking, into random coils. This phase transition is predicted to be of first order for stacking
potential higher than some critical level, in accordance with experimental observations. 相似文献

The Kα to Lα and Kβ to Lβ intensity ratios of seven elements have been measured following photoionization at 59.5 keV by using a Si (Li) detector
(FWHM=155 eV at 5.96 keV). The intensity ratios were determined by measuring K and L x-rays emitted from a standard target of a given element. The theoretical values of the Kα to Lα and Kβ to Lβ intensity ratios were calculated using theoretically tabulated values of shell/subshell photoionization cross sections,
fluorescence yields, Coster-Kronig transition probabilities, and radiative decay rates for ηKLi≠ and ηKLi=0. The measured values are in good agreement with theoretical results.

Spontaneous emission behavior from atoms (or molecules) in one-dimensional photonic crystal with a defect is investigated. Taken all the TE and TM modes into account, the normalized spontaneous emission rate of the atom is calculated as a function of the position of the atom in the crystal. Results for both nonabsorbing dielectric structure and absorbing dielectric structure are presented. With the increase of the thickness of the defect in which the atoms are embedded, the oscillations of the spontaneous emission rate versus the position of the atom become dense and the lifetime distribution becomes narrow and sharp. The PC effect may lead to the coexistence of both accelerated and inhibited decay processes. 相似文献
