Novel triblock copolymers having self‐complementary hydrogen‐bonding units were synthesized by using reversible addition–fragmentation transfer polymerization. As characterized by dynamic light scattering and atomic force microscopy, these polymers formed noncovalently crosslinked polymer particles and showed an aggregation behavior by intermolecular and intramolecular interactions. At low concentration, polymers formed nanoparticles, and the particle diameter increased with increasing polymer concentration. The use of titanium‐based alloys as biomaterials is becoming more common because they have a reduced elastic modulus, superior biocompatibility, specific strength, good corrosion resistance, superior strain control, and fatigue resistance compared to conventional stainless steel and Co? Cr alloys. However, when implanted into the human body these metals are problematic because they do not directly bond with living bone. Surface treatments play an important role in nucleating calcium phosphate deposition on a surgical titanium alloy implant. The purpose of this study is to examine whether the precipitation of apatite on Ti? 10Ta? 10Nb alloy is affected by surface modification in H2O2 solution. Specimens were chemically treated with a solution containing 30 wt% H2O2 at 80 °C for 1 h, and subsequently heat treated at 400 °C for 1 h. All specimens were immersed in SBF (Simulated Body Fluid) with a pH of 7.4 at 36.5 °C for seven days, and the surfaces were examined with XRD, SEM, EDX and in vitro testing. The microstructure analysis of the Ti? 10Ta? 10Nb alloy after etching with Keller's etchant showed a Widmanstatten pattern. The micro‐Vickers hardness number was 236.44 ± 4.99, and surface roughness was increased by the surface treatment. The wettability after surface treatment was better than on the nontreated surface. We report the characterization of Firpic (iridium(III)bis[4,6‐di‐fluorophenyl]‐pyridinato‐N,C2,]picolinate) organic thin film prepared by vacuum deposition to provide a systematic route to organic film quantification. To analyze the characteristics of thin Firpic films on a Si substrate, various techniques such as XPS, Fourier transform infra‐red (FT‐IR) spectrometer, and atomic force microscopy (AFM) are utilized. The Firpic films remain stable without surface morphological or compositional change during deposition and after exposure to X‐ray irradiation or atmospheric environment, for which qualities these films are believed to be an ideal platform as a pure organic thin film. The monotonic increases in FT‐IR and XPS intensities with film thickness are matching well with each other. In particular, from the XPS intensity analysis, the relative atomic sensitivity factors of the present system, electron attenuation length, and molecular density in the organic thin film can be evaluated. The purpose of this study was to evaluate microbial populations, Hunter's color values (L?, a?, b?) and the sensory quality of freeze-dried miyeokguk, Korean seaweed soup, in order to use it as space food. Microorganisms were not detected in non-irradiated freeze-dried miyeokguk within the detection limit of 1.00 log CFU/g. However, the microbial population in rehydrated miyeokguk was 7.01 log CFU/g after incubation at 35 °C for 48 h, indicating that freeze-dried miyeokguk was not sterilized by heat treatment during the preparation process. Bacteria in the freeze-dried miyeokguk were tentatively identified as Bacillus cereus, B. subtilis, Enterobacter hormaechei, and Ancinetobacter genomosp. using the 16S rDNA sequencing. In samples that were gamma-irradiated above 10 kGy, it was confirmed that all microorganisms were inactivated. Hunter's color values of the samples irradiated at doses less than 10 kGy were not significantly altered from their baseline appearance (p>0.05). Sensory evaluation showed that preference scores in all sensory properties decreased when freeze-dried miyeokguk was irradiated at doses greater than 10 kGy. Therefore, the results of this study suggest that gamma irradiation at 10 kGy is sufficient to sterilize freeze-dried miyeokguk without significant deterioration in the sensory quality, and thus, the freeze-dried and irradiated miyeokguk at 10 kGy fulfills the microbiological requirements as space food. 相似文献

TiO2 has been widely utilized for various industrial applications such as photochemical cells, photocatalysts, and electrochromic devices. The crystallinity and morphology of TiO2 films play a significant role in determining the overall efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). In this study, the preparation of nanostructured TiO2 films by electron beam irradiation and their characterization were investigated for the application of DSSCs. TiO2 films were exposed to 20–100 kGy of electron beam irradiation using 1.14 MeV energy acceleration with a 7.46 mA beam current and 10 kGy/pass dose rates. These samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis. After irradiation, each TiO2 film was tested as a DSSC. At low doses of electron beam irradiation (20 kGy), the energy conversion efficiency of the film was approximately 4.0% under illumination of simulated sunlight with AM 1.5 G (100 mW/cm2). We found that electron beam irradiation resulted in surface modification of the TiO2 films, which could explain the observed increase in the conversion efficiency in irradiated versus non-irradiated films. 相似文献

Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) is an interesting material with good biocompatibility, high elasticity and hydrophilic characteristics. PVA hydrogels have been formed through chemical crosslinking with aldehyde, photopolymerization and physical crosslinking with freeze-thawing. In this study, crosslinked hydrogels based on PVA, and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) were prepared by gamma-ray irradiation, and then annealed at 120 °C. The properties of a hydrogel such as gel fraction, swelling behavior, gel strength as a function of PEG content and annealing time were investigated. Also, the thermal behaviors were examined by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The gel fraction decreases with an increase in PEG content and decrease in annealing time. The tensile strength increases with an increase in annealing time. The thermal behaviors have shown different patterns according to the annealing time. The improved properties suggest that PVA/PEG blend hydrogel can be a good candidate for applications in the articular cartilage. 相似文献

We suggest two types of new amine-type sII formers: pyrrolidine and piperidine. These guest compounds fail to form clathrate hydrate structures with host water, but instead have to combine with light gaseous guest molecules (methane) for enclathration. First, two binary clathrate hydrates of (pyrrolidine + methane) and (piperidine + methane) were synthesized at various amine concentrations. 13C NMR and Raman analysis were done to identify the clathrate hydrate structure and guest distribution over sII-S and sII-L cages. XRD was also used to find the exact structure and corresponding cell parameters. At a dilute pyrrolidine concentration of less than 5.56 mol%, the tuning phenomenon is observed such that methane molecules surprisingly occupy sII-L cages. At the critical guest concentration of about 0.1 mol%, the cage occupancy ratio reaches the maximum of approximately 0.5. At very dilute guest concentration below 0.1 mol%, the methane molecules fail to occupy large cages on account of their rarefied distribution in the network. Direct-release experiments were performed to determine the actual guest compositions in the clathrate hydrate phases.
