Derivatives of Set-Valued Maps and Gap Functions for Vector Equilibrium Problems

This paper deals with the set-valued gap functions for vector equilibrium problems and investigates their differential properties using Hadamard directional differentials. Also, contingent and adjacent derivatives of a class of set-valued maps are characterized. Moreover, some basic properties of Φ-contingent and Φ-adjacent cones are given in the presence of a nonsmooth kernel function.     

Synthesis of new derivatives of 3‐aryl‐1,5‐dimethyl‐1H‐[1,2,4]triazolo[4′,3′:1,2]pyrimido[4,5‐e][1,3,4]oxadiazines as potential antiproliferative agents

Starting from pyrimido[4,5‐e][1,3,4]oxadiazines ( 3a , 3b , 3c ) , a synthetic pathway to [1,2,4]triazolo[4′,3′:1,2]pyrimido[4,5‐e][1,3,4]oxadiazines ( 5a , 5b , 5c , 5d , 5e , 5f , 5g , 5h , 5i ) is described. The reaction of pyrimido[4,5‐e][1,3,4]oxadiazines ( 3a , 3b , 3c ) with hydrazine hydrate afforded the corresponding hydrazino derivatives ( 4a , 4b , 4c ) . Further treatment of these compounds with different orthoesters in acetic acid gave the corresponding [1,2,4]triazolo[4′,3′:1,2]pyrimido[4,5‐e][1,3,4]oxadiazines ( 5a , 5b , 5c , 5d , 5e , 5f , 5g , 5h , 5i ) . Compound ( 3a ) and ( 5b ) , as examples, were tested on different cancer cell lines including HeLa, MCF‐7, and HepG2. Malignant cells were cultured in DMEM medium and incubated with different concentrations of the titled compounds. Cell viability was quantitated by MTT assay. J. Heterocyclic Chem., (2010).

Some Remarks on the Proximal Point Algorithm

In this paper, we obtain some results on the boundedness and asymptotic behavior of the sequence generated by the proximal point algorithm without summability assumption on the error sequence. We also study the rate of convergence to minimum value of a proper, convex, and lower semicontinuous function. Finally, we consider the proximal point algorithm for solving equilibrium problems.     

Influence of oxide scale thickness on electrical conductivity of coated AISI 430 steel for use as interconnect in solid oxide fuel cells

The use of conductive coating on interconnect ferritic stainless steel can reduce electrical resistivity. In this study, an AISI 430 ferritic stainless steel interconnect was coated with a manganese base pack mixture by pack cementation. The effect of oxide scale thickness on electrical conductivity was evaluated by applying isothermal oxidation at 750?°C. This effect was also investigated at different temperatures (400?C900?°C). The formation of manganese spinels during annealing improved the oxidation resistance and electrical conductivity. Results showed that the increase in isothermal oxidation time and temperature increased the oxide thickness, and this resulted in the relatively low values of electrical conductivity. Manganese spinels enhanced the electrical conductivity and oxidation resistance of coated substrates as compared to uncoated substrates.     

Balancedly splittable Hadamard matrices

Balancedly splittable Hadamard matrices are introduced and studied. A connection is made to the Hadamard diagonalizable strongly regular graphs, maximal equiangular lines set, and unbiased Hadamard matrices. Several construction methods are presented. As an application, commutative association schemes of 4, 5, and 6 classes are constructed.     

Multivariate curve resolution-particle swarm optimization: A high-throughput approach to exploit pure information from multi-component hyphenated chromatographic signals

Multivariate curve resolution-particle swarm optimization (MCR-PSO) algorithm is proposed to exploit pure chromatographic and spectroscopic information from multi-component hyphenated chromatographic signals. This new MCR method is based on rotation of mathematically unique PCA solutions into the chemically meaningful MCR solutions. To obtain a proper rotation matrix, an objective function based on non-fulfillment of constraints is defined and is optimized using particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. Initial values of rotation matrix are calculated using local rank analysis and heuristic evolving latent projection (HELP) method. The ability of MCR-PSO in resolving the chromatographic data is evaluated using simulated gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) and high-performance liquid chromatography–diode array detection (HPLC–DAD) data. To present a comprehensive study, different number of components and various levels of noise under proper constraints of non-negativity, unimodality and spectral normalization are considered. Calculation of the extent of rotational ambiguity in MCR solutions for different chromatographic systems using MCR-BANDS method showed that MCR-PSO solutions are always in the range of feasible solutions like true solutions. In addition, the performance of MCR-PSO is compared with other popular MCR methods of multivariate curve resolution-objective function minimization (MCR-FMIN) and multivariate curve resolution-alternating least squares (MCR-ALS). The results showed that MCR-PSO solutions are rather similar or better (in some cases) than other MCR methods in terms of statistical parameters. Finally MCR-PSO is successfully applied in the resolution of real GC–MS data. It should be pointed out that in addition to multivariate resolution of hyphenated chromatographic signals, MCR-PSO algorithm can be straightforwardly applied to other types of separation, spectroscopic and electrochemical data.     

Sulfamic Acid–Catalyzed Oxidation of Sulfides to Sulfoxides and Sulfones Using H2O2: Green and Chemoselective Method

A mild, efficient, green, and selective oxidation method of sulfides to sulfoxides or sulfones using H₂O₂ in the presence of catalytic amounts of sulfamic acid has been developed. Various substituted sulfides having functional groups such as alcohol, ester, and aldehyde are successfully and selectively oxidized without affecting the sensitive functionalities in good to excellent yields at room temperature.     

γ-Al2O3-Supported 12-Tungstosilicic Acid as an Efficient Heterogeneous Catalyst for the Synthesis of α-Aminonitrile

The multicomponent Strecker reaction using trimethylsilyle cyanide was performed in very short reaction times, and α-aminonitriles were prepared in excellent yields in the presence of a catalytic amount of alumina-supported tungstosilicic acid.
