The phonon dispersion in RB12 (R = Yb, Lu) systems is studied in detail using inelastic neutron scattering over a wide range of energies (up to 55 meV). It is demonstrated that the main features of the lattice dynamics in the RB12 crystals can be described in terms of a simple model of force constants with a strong hierarchy of interatomic interactions in the systems: B-B ≫ B-RR-R. An interesting feature of the low-energy portion of the phonon spectrum is the weakly dispersive optical mode. According to the model calculations, this mode is associated with the relative displacements and “breathing” vibrations of the boron nanoclusters B12.

We examined the disposition of 4-methylumbelliferone (4-MU) and its conjugative metabolites, glucuronide (4-MUG) and sulfate (4-MUS), using a single-pass rat liver perfusion system. When 4-MU was delivered, the steady-state hepatic extraction ratio for 4-MU was very high (approximately 1.0) and its conjugative metabolites, 4-MUG and 4-MUS, appeared to a large extent in the effluent perfusate. The biliary excretion rate of the 4-MUG conjugated from 4-MU was 44% of the infusion rate at the steady-state, whereas those of 4-MU and 4-MUS were less than 1% of the infusion rate. When 4-MUG was delivered, the steady-state hepatic extraction ratio for 4-MUG was very low (less than 0.05) and the removal rate of 4-MUG from the perfusate was almost identical to the excretion rate of 4-MUG into the bile, while 4-MU and 4-MUS were slightly excreted into the bile (1% of the total biliary excretion rate), suggesting that a little deconjugation of 4-MUG to 4-MU occurred in the liver. Similarly, 4-MU and 4-MUS were not detectable in the effluent perfusate. The apparent extraction ratio (Eapp) for the intracellularly conjugated 4-MUG was approximately twenty times higher than that for the pre-conjugated 4-MUG. This discrepancy between the values of Eapp for the intracellularly conjugated and pre-conjugated 4-MUG might be attributed mainly to the diffusional barrier for the metabolite between the blood and hepatocytes, as suggested in the previous simulation (J. The results of recently published studies indicate that potato juice is characterized by interesting biological activity that can be particularly useful in the case of gastrointestinal symptoms. Moreover, the studies also described the high nutritional value of its proteins. This article is a report on the impact of the enzymatic hydrolysis of proteins combined with membrane filtration. The obtained potato juice protein hydrolysate (PJPH) and its concentrate (cPJPH) were characterized in terms of their nutritional value and biological activity. The amino acid profile and scoring, the content of mineral compounds, and the antioxidant and in vitro cytotoxic activity were assessed. The study proved that the antioxidant activity of PJPH is higher than that of fresh potato juice, and the cytotoxicity against human gastric carcinoma cell line (Hs 746T), human colon cancer cell line (Caco-2), human colorectal adenocarcinoma cell line (HT-29), and human normal colon mucosa cell line (CCD 841 CoN) showed biological activity specifically targeted against cancer cells. Therefore, it can be concluded that the membrane filtration-assisted enzymatic hydrolysis of potato juice proteins may increase their biological activity and allow for potato juice to be used in the production of medicinal preparations.  相似文献

Bladder cancer (BC) is a common malignancy of the urinary system and a leading cause of death worldwide. In this work, untargeted metabolomic profiling of biological fluids is presented as a non-invasive tool for bladder cancer biomarker discovery as a first step towards developing superior methods for detection, treatment, and prevention well as to further our current understanding of this disease. In this study, urine samples from 24 healthy volunteers and 24 BC patients were subjected to metabolomic profiling using high throughput solid-phase microextraction (SPME) in thin-film format and reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with a Q Exactive Focus Orbitrap mass spectrometer. The chemometric analysis enabled the selection of metabolites contributing to the observed separation of BC patients from the control group. Relevant differences were demonstrated for phenylalanine metabolism compounds, i.e., benzoic acid, hippuric acid, and 4-hydroxycinnamic acid. Furthermore, compounds involved in the metabolism of histidine, beta-alanine, and glycerophospholipids were also identified. Thin-film SPME can be efficiently used as an alternative approach to other traditional urine sample preparation methods, demonstrating the SPME technique as a simple and efficient tool for urinary metabolomics research. Moreover, this study’s results may support a better understanding of bladder cancer development and progression mechanisms.  相似文献

The limiting factor in conventional quality assessments of transplanted organs, namely the invasiveness of tissue sample collection, has prompted much research on the field of transplantology to focus on the development of alternative evaluation methods of organ quality. In the present project, we undertake the challenge to address the need for a new analytical solution for graft quality assessments by using a novel metabolomic diagnostic protocol based on low‐invasive solid‐phase microextraction. Solid‐phase microextraction probes of ca. 0.2 mm coated with 4 mm long mixed‐mode extraction phase were inserted into rabbit kidneys immediately following euthanasia and after 2, 4, 6, and 21 h of preservation. Liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry analysis of the extracts was performed with the use of a reversed phase column and a Q‐Exactive Focus mass spectrometer operated in positive ionization mode. Statistical analysis of significantly changing compounds revealed metabolic profile changes in kidneys induced by ischemia and oxidative stress as a function of the duration of cold storage. The most pronounced alterations were reflected in levels of essential amino acids and purine nucleosides. Our findings demonstrate that the proposed approach may be successfully used to monitor changes in the metabolic profile of organs over time of preservation.  相似文献

The silicon molding technique is described for patterning of NdFeB/Ta multilayered magnetic films and NdFeB magnetic powder at the micron scale. Silicon trenches are seamlessly filled by 12-μm-thick NdFeB/Ta multilayered magnetic films with a magnetic retentivity of 1.3 T. The topography image and magnetic field distribution image are measured using an atomic force microscope and a magnetic force microscope, respectively. Using a silicon molding technique complemented by a lift-off process, NdFeB magnetic powder is utilized to fabricate magnetic microstructures. Silicon trenches as narrow as 20 μm are filled by a mixture of magnetic powder and wax powder. The B-H hysteresis loop of the patterned magnetic powder is characterized using a vibrating sample magnetometer, which shows a magnetic retentivity of approximately 0.37 T.  相似文献

We have observed the anomalous magnetization of Bi2Sr2CaCu2−xNixO8 (x = 0 and 0.02) single crystals. Anisotropy decreases with iodine intercalation although it expands the space between CuO2 layers. Iodine intercalation seems to suppress the magnetization anomaly for Ni = 1% crystals, but not for Ni = 1% substituted crystals. We have discussed these results in terms of the increase of anisotropy by Ni substitution and the dimensional crossover of flux lines. Effects of both oxygen concentration and substitution of a magnetic element for the Cu site on the anisotropy of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 crystals show the same tendency as the case of the YBa2Cu3O7 superconductor.  相似文献
