We show that the conductivity of hybrid vanadium bronzes—mixed-valence organic–inorganic vanadium oxides—can be tuned over six orders of magnitude through judicious choice of molecular component. By systematically varying the steric profile, charge density, and propensity to hydrogen bond across a series of eight diammonium-based molecules, we engender multiple distinct motifs of V−O connectivity within the two-dimensional vanadium oxide layers of a family of bulk crystalline hybrid materials. A combination of single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction analysis, variable-temperature electrical transport measurements, and a range of spectroscopic methods, including UV/Visible diffuse reflectance, X-ray photoelectron, and electron paramagnetic resonance are employed to probe how vanadium oxide layer topology correlates with electron localization. Specifically, alkylammonium molecules yield hybrids featuring more corrugated layers that contain V−O tetrahedra as well as a higher ratio of corner-sharing to edge-sharing polyhedra and that exhibit highly localized electronic behavior, while alkyl bipyridinium molecules yield more regular layers with polyhedral edge-sharing that show substantially delocalized electronic behavior. This work allows for the development of design principles based on structure–property relationships and brings the charge transport capabilities of hybrid vanadium bronzes to more technologically relevant levels. 相似文献

The aim of this study was to examine the impact of osmotic pressure, regulated by an addition of different NaCl concentrations, on the production parameters and activity of the enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of erythritol from glycerol by Yarrowia lipolytica yeast. In the bioreactor batchcultures, strain A-3 was able to produce from 25.3 g dm?3 to 84.7 g dm?3 of erythritol from 150 g dm?3 of glycerol depending on the initial osmotic pressure. At the osmolality of 4.2 mol kg?3 or higher, a long lag-phase was observed. An enhancement of the production parameters was observed in a culture with the osmotic pressure maintained at an equal level by a step-wise addition of NaCl. The two-hour exposure of strain A-3 cells to 75 g dm?3 of NaCl resulted in decreased activity of glycerol kinase and glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase by about 78 % and 25 %, respectively. The activity of transketolase and erythrose reductase remained unchanged after the salt addition. It was demonstrated that assimilation of glycerol was effective at lower osmotic pressures and that transketolase and erythrose reductase played a significant role in the erythritol formation in Y. lipolytica. 相似文献

The synthesis of a new chromogenic N,N′-phenyltetrazole receptor is reported here. The cationbinding properties of this receptor in solution were investigated by naked-eye colour change, electrochemical methods and UV-Vis spectroscopy in various solvents (CH3CN, dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO), DMSO/H2O, CH3CN/H2O and CH3CN/MeOH). In addition, the receptor was used as a sensing material in ion-selective membrane electrodes. The selectivity and sensitivity of these electrodes towards alkali, alkali-earth, transition and heavy metal cations in aqueous solution were tested. Thermally induced Angstrom and nanometer‐scale reorganization in thermotropic liquid crystalline polymer based on (1,4)‐hydroxybenzoic acid (B) and (2,6)‐hydroxynaphthoic acid (N) was investigated by simultaneous wide‐angle and small‐angle X‐ray scattering (SAXS, respectively). Extruded tapes 50 µm thick were annealed at 240°C under dry air conditions. The as‐received tape exhibited fiber‐like structure with crystalline order, whereas the SAXS patterns exhibited diamond‐shaped diffuse scattering elongated along the equatorial axis elucidating nanovoid morphology oriented along the extrusion axis. Guinier analyses showed that the radius of gyration Rg of nanovoids were ca. 17 nm along the extrusion axis. Heat treatment produced a sharpening of the 002 meridional reflection and the 110 equatorial reflection suggesting an improvement of molecular register and packing. The molecular alignment, as quantified by the order parameter , increased as well as the degree of crystallinity χ. On the other hand, SAXS intensity along the equatorial axis decreased evidencing reduction of Rg, i.e. lateral compression of the nanovoids and better molecular packing. Thermal treatment increased the thermal stability and the uniaxial tensile Young's modulus, E, along extrusion axis. However, the tapes exhibited microhardness anisotropy and the indentation anisotropy, ?H, gradually decreased suggesting reduction of elastic recovery in the molecular chain direction. Scanning electron microscopy evidenced an outer skin with an internal layered morphology that transformed into sheet‐like morphology with meandering fibrils.
