The convergence of sum rules relating the matrix elements of local operators to integrals over deep-inelastic structure functions is studied critically. It is found that the matrix elements may always be written as the q2 → ? ∞ limit of finite expressions, regardless of the (Regge) asymptotic behavior of the structure functions or the possible occurrence of J = 0 fixed singularities. The correct form of the sum rule for the operator Schwinger term is taken as a paradigm case. It is derived from the Bjorken-Johnson-Low theorem and agrees with the results of parton model and light-cone analyses. It readily encompases the results of second order φ3 theory (where the Schwinger term diverges logarithmically) and second order vector gluon theory (where it vanishes). Sufficient conditions for the finiteness of the operator Schwinger term are the scaling of the longitudinal structure function and the absence of J = 0 fixed singularities with nonpolynomial residues. The treatment is readily applicable to other scaling and fixed q2 sum rules needing regulation. A compendium of these is given.  相似文献

Using 13.7 fb(-1) of data recorded by the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we investigate the spectrum of charmed baryons which decay into Lambda+(c)pi(-)pi(+) and are more massive than the Lambda+(c)(2625) baryon. We find evidence for two new states: one is broad and has an invariant mass roughly 480 MeV above that of the Lambda+(c) baryon; the other is narrow with an invariant mass of 596+/-1+/-2 MeV above the Lambda+(c) mass.  相似文献

We have measured the charge asymmetry in like-sign dilepton yields from B(0)B*(0) meson decays using the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring. We find a(0)(ll) identical with[N(l(+)l(+))-N(l(-)l(-))]/[N(l(+)l(+))+N(l(-)l(-))] = +0.013+/-0.050+/-0.005. We combine this result with a previous, independent measurement and obtain Re(epsilon(B))/(1+ the absolute value of epsilon(B)(2)) = +0.0035+/-0.0103+/-0.0015 (uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively) for the CP impurity parameter, epsilon(B).  相似文献

This article presents experimental verification of an interpolation algorithm that was previously proposed in Jaffe [J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 105, 3168-3175 (1999)]. The goal of the algorithm is to improve estimates of both target position and target strength by minimizing a least-squares residual between noise-corrupted target measurement data and the output of a model of the sonar's amplitude response to a target at a set of known locations. Although this positional estimator was shown to be a maximum likelihood estimator, in principle, experimental verification was desired because of interest in understanding its true performance. Here, the accuracy of the algorithm is investigated by analyzing the correspondence between a target's true position and the algorithm's estimate. True target position was measured by precise translation of a small test target (bead) or from the analysis of images of fish from a coregistered optical imaging system. Results with the stationary spherical test bead in a high signal-to-noise environment indicate that a large increase in resolution is possible, while results with commercial aquarium fish indicate a smaller increase is obtainable. However, in both experiments the algorithm provides improved estimates of target position over those obtained by simply accepting the angular positions of the sonar beam with maximum output as target position. In addition, increased accuracy in target strength estimation is possible by considering the effects of the sonar beam patterns relative to the interpolated position. A benefit of the algorithm is that it can be applied "ex post facto" to existing data sets from commercial multibeam sonar systems when only the beam intensities have been stored after suitable calibration.  相似文献

Uniform sodium jarosite particles were obtained by forced hydrolysis of ferric salt solutions to which copper sulfate, sodium sulfate, and sodium nitrate were added. It was found that at the same concentrations of ferric and sulfate ions the particle size and yield decreased with the lowering of the concentration of sodium ions, but the morphology remained the same. At a sufficiently small content of sodium in the reacting solution, no precipitation of sodium jarosite particles was observed. Finally, chemical and XRD analyses showed that small amounts of copper ions are incorporated in the crystal lattice which, with the change in the Na+/H3O+ ratio, slightly affected the structure of this mineral, but not its other properties.
