This study explores via structural clues the influence of weak intermolecular hydrogen-halogen bonds on the boiling point of halogenated ethanes. The plot of boiling points of 86 halogenated ethanes versus the molar refraction (linked to polarizability) reveals a series of straight lines, each corresponding to one of nine possible arrangements of hydrogen and halogen atoms on the two-carbon skeleton. A multiple linear regression model of the boiling points could be designed based on molar refraction and subgroup structure as independent variables (R(2) = 0.995, standard error of boiling point 4.2 degrees C). The model is discussed in view of the fact that molar refraction can account for approximately 83.0% of the observed variation in boiling point, while 16.5% could be ascribed to weak C-X...H-C intermolecular interactions. The difference in the observed boiling point of molecules having similar molar refraction values but differing in hydrogen-halogen intermolecular bonds can reach as much as 90 degrees C.  相似文献

Time-resolved kinetic studies of the reaction of dideutero-silylene, SiD 2, generated by laser flash photolysis of phenylsilane-d 3, have been carried out to obtain rate constants for its bimolecular reaction with C 2H 2. The reaction was studied in the gas phase over the pressure range 1-100 Torr in SF 6 bath gas, at five temperatures in the range 297-600 K. The second-order rate constants obtained by extrapolation to the high-pressure limits at each temperature fitted the Arrhenius equation log( k (infinity)/cm (3) molecule (-1) s (-1)) = (-10.05 +/- 0.05) + (3.43 +/- 0.36 kJ mol (-1))/ RT ln 10. The rate constants were used to obtain a comprehensive set of isotope effects by comparison with earlier obtained rate constants for the reactions of SiH 2 with C 2H 2 and C 2D 2. Additionally, pressure-dependent rate constants for the reaction of SiH 2 with C 2H 2 in the presence of He (1-100 Torr) were obtained at 300, 399, and 613 K. Quantum chemical (ab initio) calculations of the SiC 2H 4 reaction system at the G3 level support the initial formation of silirene, which rapidly isomerizes to ethynylsilane as the major pathway. Reversible formation of vinylsilylene is also an important process. The calculations also indicate the involvement of several other intermediates, not previously suggested in the mechanism. RRKM calculations are in semiquantitative agreement with the pressure dependences and isotope effects suggested by the ab initio calculations, but residual discrepancies suggest the possible involvement of the minor reaction channel, SiH 2 + C 2H 2 --> Si( (3)P 1) + C 2H 4. The results are compared and contrasted with previous studies of this reaction system.  相似文献

This paper continues the study of gaps in sequences of n geometrically distributed random variables, as started by Hitczenko and Knopfmacher [Gap-free samples of geometric random variables, Discrete Math. 294 (2005) 225-239], who concentrated on sequences which were gap-free. Now we allow gaps, and count some related parameters.Our terminology of gaps just means empty “urns” (within the range of occupied urns), if we think about an urn model. This might be called weak gaps, as opposed to maximal gaps, as in Hitczenko and Knopfmacher [Gap-free samples of geometric random variables, Discrete Math. 294 (2005) 225-239]. If one considers only “gap-free” sequences, both notions coincide asymptotically, as n→∞.First, the probability pn(r) that a sequence of length n has a fixed number r of empty urns is studied; this probability is asymptotically given by a constant p*(r) (depending on r) plus some small oscillations. When , everything simplifies drastically; there are no oscillations.Then, the random variable ‘number of empty urns’ is studied; all moments are evaluated asymptotically. Furthermore, samples that have r empty urns, in particular the random variable ‘largest non-empty urn’ are studied. All moments of this distribution are evaluated asymptotically.The behavior of the quantities obtained in our asymptotic formulæ is also studied for p→0 resp. p→1, through a variety of analytic techniques.The last section discusses the concept called ‘super-gap-free.’ A sample is super-gap-free, if r=0 and each non-empty urn contains at least 2 items (and d-super-gap-free, if they contain ?d items). For the instance , we sketch how the asymptotic probability (apart from small oscillations) that a sample is d-super-gap-free can be computed.  相似文献

Gas-phase protonation thermochemistry of arginine   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The gas-phase basicity (GB), proton affinity (PA), and protonation entropy (DeltapS degrees (M)=S degrees (MH+)-S degrees (M)) of arginine (Arg) have been experimentally determined by the extended kinetic method using an electrospray ionization quadrupole time-of-flight (ESI-Q-TOF) mass spectrometer. This method provides GB(Arg)=1004.3+/-2.2 (4.9) kJ.mol(-1) (indicated errors are standard deviations, and in parentheses, 95% confidence limits are given). Consideration of previous experimental data using a fast atom bombardment ionization tandem sector mass spectrometer slightly modifies these estimates since GB(Arg)=1005.9+/-3.1 (6.6) kJ.mol(-1). Lower limits of the proton affinity, PA(Arg)=1046+/-4 (7) kJ.mol(-1), and of the "protonation entropy", DeltapS degrees (Arg)=S degrees (ArgH+)-S degrees (Arg)=-27+/-7 (15) J.mol(-1).K(-1), are also provided by the experiments. Theoretical calculations conducted at the B3LYP/6-311+G(3df,2p)//B3LYP/6-31+G(d,p) level, including 298 K enthalpy correction, predict a proton affinity value of ca. 1053 kJ.mol-1 after consideration of isodesmic proton-transfer reactions with guanidine as the reference base. Computations including explicit treatment of hindered rotations and mixing of conformers confirm that a noticeable entropy loss does occur upon protonation, which leads to a theoretical DeltapS degrees (Arg) term of ca. -45 J.mol(-1).K(-1). The following evaluated thermochemical parameter values are proposed: GB(Arg)=1005+/-3 kJ.mol(-1); PA(Arg)=1051+/-5 kJ.mol(-1), and DeltapS degrees (Arg)=-45+/-12 J.mol(-1).K(-1).  相似文献

Modulation and fine-tuning of the strength of weak interactions to bind anions are described in a series of synthetic receptors. The general design of the receptors includes both a urea motif and a tetrazine motif. The synthetic sequence towards three receptors is detailed. Impacts of H-bond strength and linker length between urea and tetrazine on chloride complexation are studied. Binding properties of the chloride anion are examined in both the ground and excited states using a panel of analytical methods (NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, UV/Visible spectroscopies, and fluorescence). A ranking of the receptors by complexation strength has been determined, allowing a better understanding of the structure-properties relationship on these compounds.  相似文献

The bidentate N-donor ligands 2-aminopyridine (2-ampy), 7-azaindolate (aza) and 1,8-naphthyridine (napy) have been used to study the steric effect of pentafluorophenyl groups in the synthesis of binuclear platinum(II) complexes. The 2-ampy and aza ligands bridge two "Pt(C 6F 5) 2" fragments with Pt...Pt distances of 4.1 and 3.4 A, respectively (complexes 1 and 3). Under the same reaction conditions the napy ligand shows chelating behavior and makes the mononuclear complex ( A) highly reactive because of its strained coordination. One of the Pt-N bonds of the chelating complex is broken on reaction with HX {X = Cl ( 4), Br ( 5)} because of protonation while the anion X (-) occupies a created vacant site. The resulting mononuclear complex eliminates C 6F 5H when refluxed, and a binuclear complex ( 6) with two napy ligands bridging two "Pt(C 6F 5)Cl" fragments is obtained. The reaction of A with HPPh 2 affords a mononuclear complex ( 7) analogous to complexes 5 and 6, but reflux gives a binuclear complex ( 8) with the two napy ligands terminally bound and the PPh 2 groups bridging the "Pt(C 6F 5)napy" moieties. The reaction of A with HCCPh gives a binuclear complex; moreover, the final product does not depend on the ratio of complex A to HCCPh. Complexes 1, 4, 6, 9 have been structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction.  相似文献
