REACTION OF (ORGANYLTHIO)CHLOROACETYLENES WITH ALIPHATIC 1,2-DITHIOLS: A ROUTE TO FUNCTIONALIZED 1,3-DITHIOLANES

(Organylthio)chloroacetylenes react with aliphatic 1,2-dithiols in dimethyl sulfoxide at 20–25°C in the presence of a two-fold molar excess of alkali to form 2-[(alkylthio)methyliden]-1,3-dithiolanes in up to 66% yield.

Efficient One-Pot Procedures for the Preparation of Secondary Phosphines

Secondary phosphines R₂PH or RR'PH (R and R' = alkyl, cycloalkyl) have been obtained in good yields by preparing lithium phosphide from lithium, red phosphorus and t-butylalcohol in liquid ammonia and subsequent alkylation in the presence of alkali amide, prepared in the same flask.     

Reaction of divinyl telluride with secondary phosphine chalcogenides

Divinyl telluride reacted with 2 equiv of diphenylphosphine sulfide in the presence of AIBN as radical initiator (63–68°C) to give the corresponding anti-Markovnikov adduct in 68% yield with high regioselectivity. Treatment of the addition product with aqueous hydrogen peroxide at room temperature afforded 71% of vinyldiphenylphosphine oxide. Radical addition of diphenylphosphine selenide to divinyl telluride (AIBN, 63–68°C) led to the formation of 1,1,3,3-tetraphenyldiphosphoxane 1,3-diselenide in 82% yield.     

Reaction of Vinylpyridines with Active Modifications of Elemental Phosphorus in KOH/DMSO

The phosphorylation of 2-vinyl- and 4-vinylpyridines by white phosphorus and active modifications of red phosphorus (obtained by thermal polymerization of white phosphorus in the presence of graphite or the action of ionizing radiation in benzene) in the KOH/DMSO superbase system at room temperature leads to the formation of tris[2-(2-pyridyl)ethyl]- and tris[2-(4-pyridyl)ethyl]phosphine oxides in 58-72% yield. These oxides are promising ligands for design of metal complex catalysts. These vinylpyridines react less efficiently with ordinary red phosphorus and the yield of the corresponding tris(2-pyridylethyl)phosphine oxides does not exceed 10%.     

Organylthiochloroacetylenes: IV. Reaction with Thiourea

Alkylthiochloroacetylenes react with thiourea in acetone to form S-(alkylthioethynyl)isothiuronium chlorides and N-[1-(alkylthio)ethylidene]thioureas; phenylthiochloroacetylene reacts with thiourea to give 4-(phenylthio)-2-imino-1,3(3H)-thiazole hydrochloride.     

Structure of polymeric coumarins. I. Determination of the double bonds in copolymers and the initial coumarins by ozonization

The paper gives the results obtained in a study of the structure of coumarin derivatives by the following metheds: ozonization of the double bonds in the monomeric and polymeric coumarins, and also in mixtures of polyvinylpyrrolidone with monomeric coumarins, and the treatment of the monomeric coumarins under the conditions of radical copolymerization but without the participation of N-vinylpyrrolidone.
