The essential oil of Chrysactinia mexicana retrieved from the root bark was characterized by gas chromatography coupled to a mass detector. The compounds silphiperfol-5-ene, 7-epi- silphiperfol-5-ene, modheph-2-ene, alpha-isocomene, beta-isocomene and methyl-linoleate were identified. The principal compound (76.42%) could not be identified by the library and was further isolated through a reverse phase C-18 chromatography followed by silica gel chromatography and identified as 5-(3-buten-1-ynyl)-2,2'-bithienyl. Both the oil and the isolated compound were tested for their antimicrobial activity against two strains of Streptococcus pneumoniae resistant to beta-lactam antibiotics. MICs were 250 microg/mL and 125 microg/mL respectively. This is the first report about extraction of oil and compound 5-(3-buten-1-ynyl)-2, 2'-bithienyl from roots of Chrysactinia mexicana as well as the determination of antimicrobial activity against S. pneumoniae. 相似文献

We present a systematic study of the average magnetic moments and the non‐metal–metal transition of free CoN clusters having different geometries: hexahedral, octahedral and decahedral. The electronic structure is calculated with a parameterized Hubbard Hamiltonian with spd electrons within the unrestricted Hartree‐Fock approximation, and spill‐over effects are considered. This work reports the results of ultraviolet irradiation on the interaction of the phototoxic antipsychotic drug chlorpromazine (CPZ) with the sodium pump Na+, K+-ATPase. The study was performed by monitoring the fluorescence modifications of CPZ itself and of the specific probe anthroylouabain (AO). CPZ association with Na+, K+-ATPase was found to modify the kinetics of CPZ-photodegradation. It was demonstrated that UV irradiation produces a stable fluorescent photoproduct of CPZ covalently bound to Na+, K+-ATPase. The fluorescent probe AO, which specifically binds to the extracellular ouabain site of the pump, was used to localize the CPZ binding site. UV-irradiation of AO-labeled Na+, K+-ATPase treated with CPZ at concentration about 20 microM produced dose-dependent modifications of the AO fluorescence, e.g. increased quantum yield and blue shift. The results demonstrated that CPZ binds near the ouabain site. The photo-induced reaction of CPZ with AO-labeled Na+, K+-ATPase protected the ouabain site from the aqueous environment. It was also found that UV irradiation of CPZ-treated enzyme obstructs the binding of AO, which suggested occlusion of the ouabain site. This effect can be evaluated for a potential use of CPZ in photochemotherapy. 相似文献

A system of arrays of nanowires side-coupled to a quantum wire is studied. Transport through the quantum wire is investigated by using a noninteracting Anderson tunneling Hamiltonian. An analytical expression of the conductance at zero temperature is given, showing a band with alternating forbidden and allowed minibands due to the discrete structure of the nanowires. A generalization of the odd–even parity symmetry is found in this system, whose conductance exhibits a forbidden miniband in the center of the band for an odd number of sites in the nanowires, while shows an allowed band for an even number. 相似文献

We studied the changes in the electronic structure of SrTi1-xRuxO3 across the metal-insulator transition. The parent compound, SrTiO3, is a well known diamagnetic insulator; whereas the doped compound, SrTi1-xRuxO3, becomes a ferromagnetic metal above x

= 0.35. The techniques used in the study were photoemission (PES) and O 1
s X-ray absorption (XAS) spectroscopy. The experimental spectra were analyzed in terms of band structure and Hubbard model
calculations. The PES and XAS spectra of SrTi1-xRuxO3 show the Ru 4
d bands growing in the band gap of SrTiO3 . The analysis in terms of the Hubbard model indicates that the Ti 3
d and Ru 4
d bands are mostly decoupled. This suggests that the metal-insulator transition is a percolation transition like that of metals
embedded in a rare gas matrix. Electron correlation effects are present in this system, but they do not seem to play a major
role in the transition.

An isospectral matrix reduction is a procedure that reduces the size of a matrix while maintaining its eigenvalues up to a known set. As to not violate the fundamental theorem of algebra, the reduced matrices have rational functions as entries. Because isospectral reductions can preserve the spectrum of a matrix, they are fundamentally different from say the restriction of a matrix to an invariant subspace. We show that the notion of pseudospectrum can be extended to a wide class of matrices with rational function entries and that the pseudospectrum of such matrices shrinks with isospectral reductions. Hence, the eigenvalues of a reduced matrix are more robust to entry‐wise perturbations than the eigenvalues of the original matrix. Moreover, the isospectral reductions considered here are more general than those considered elsewhere. We also introduce the notion of an inverse pseudospectrum (or pseudoresonances), which indicates how stable the poles of a rational function valued matrix are to entry‐wise perturbations.
