Variable ordering heuristics that sample information before or during search in order to inform subsequent decisions have shown better performance and greater robustness than standard heuristics. One such strategy, the “weighted degree heuristic,” is based on weighting constraints according to their involvement in failure during search. A more recent approach uses “random probing” with restarting to gain information less subject to sampling bias. To date, these approaches have not been carefully analysed experimentally. In the present work, several important findings are presented, including a better delineation of the class of events that is sampled, an analysis of the importance of informed choices at the beginning of search, and a demonstration that random probing identifies sources of global contention effectively even when these are not clearly demarcated. These experiments show how empirical analysis can clarify subtle issues in the analysis of heuristic procedures for difficult search problems.  相似文献

Although progress in the use carbon nanotubes in medicine has been most encouraging for therapeutic and diagnostic applications, any translational success must involve overcoming the toxicological and surface functionalization challenges inherent in the use of such nanotubes. Ideally, a carbon‐nanotube‐based drug delivery system would exhibit low toxicity, sustained drug release, and persist in circulation without aggregation. Here, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) coated with a biocompatible block‐co‐polymer composed of poly(lactide)‐poly(ethylene glycol) (PLA‐PEG) are reported to reduce short‐term and long‐term toxicity, sustain drug release of paclitaxel (PTX), and prevent aggregation. The copolymer coating on the surface of CNTs significantly reduces in vitro toxicity. Moreover, the coating reduces the in vitro inflammatory response. Compared to non‐coated CNTs, in vivo studies show no long‐term inflammatory response with CNT coated with PLA‐PEG (CLP) and the surface coating significantly decreases acute toxicity by doubling the maximum tolerated dose in mice. In vivo biodistribution and histology studies suggest a lower degree of aggregation in tissues.  相似文献

Mammalian Nod2 is an intracellular protein that is implicated in the innate immune response to the bacterial cell wall and is associated with the development of Crohn's disease, Blau syndrome, and gastrointestinal cancers. Nod2 is required for an immune response to muramyl dipeptide (MDP), an immunostimulatory fragment of bacterial cell wall, but it is not known whether MDP binds directly to Nod2. We report the expression and purification of human Nod2 from insect cells. Using novel MDP self-assembled monolayers (SAMs), we provide the first biochemical evidence for a direct, high-affinity interaction between Nod2 and MDP.  相似文献

We report on low-cost, all solution fabrication of efficient air-stable nanostructured thin film photovoltaics comprised of n-type Sb(2)S(3) chemically deposited onto TiO(2) nanowire array films, forming coaxial Sb(2)S(3)/TiO(2) nanowire hybrids vertically oriented from the SnO(2):F coated glass substrate, which are then intercalated with poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) for hole transport and enhanced light absorption.  相似文献

Electronic interactions and metal-metal communication in a wide range of cobaltacarborane-hydrocarbon complexes containing one to six metal centers, and exhibiting a variety of modes of inter-cage connectivity and molecular architectures, have been investigated via cyclic voltammetry, controlled potential coulometry, and UV-visible spectroelectrochemistry. The properties of mixed-valent Co(III)/Co(IV) and Co(II)/Co(III) species that are generated on oxidation or reduction of dinuclear and polynuclear Co(III) complexes were examined and classified as Robin-Day Class I (localized), Class II (partially delocalized), or Class III (fully delocalized) systems. The extent of metal-metal communication between metallacarborane cage units is strongly influenced by the type of intercage connection (e.g., cage B-B or Cp-Cp); the vertexes involved (equatorial vs apical); the nature of the linking unit, if any; and the presence of substituents on the carborane cages. In multi-tripledecker complexes where three CpCo(C(2)B(3)H(4))CoCp units are linked through a central triethynyl benzene connector, the data suggest that Co-Co electronic communication is extensive (Class III) within individual sandwich units while intersandwich delocalization is weak or absent. An extended Hückel study of CpCoC(2)B(4)H(6) double-decker and CpCo(C(2)B(3)H(5))CoCp triple-decker sandwich model complexes shows significant differences in the orbital contributions involved in the HOMO and LUMO of the former vs the latter type. The calculations afford additional insight into the electronic structures and properties of these systems as elucidated by the experimental studies.  相似文献

Density functional theory calculations (DFT) are used to investigate the strain-induced changes to the electronic structure of biaxially strained (parallel to the (001), (110) and (111) planes) and uniaxially strained (along the [001], [110] and [111] directions) germanium (Ge). It is calculated that a moderate uniaxial strain parallel to the [111] direction can efficiently transform Ge to a direct bandgap material with a bandgap energy useful for technological applications.  相似文献

Excited states of 11Be have been studied with several transfer reactions. Nine states between 3.96 and 25.0 MeV excitation energy show the characteristic energy dependence of a rotational band. The deduced large moment of inertia is consistent with a 2α structure with large deformation. In 12Be four high-lying states observed at 7.3, 10.7, 14.6, and 21.7 MeV in the reaction 9Be(15N,12N)12Be, also form a rotational band with almost the same moment of inertia; tentative spin assignments of 2+–8+ are used.  相似文献
