5-Ethylthiomethyl- und 5-Ethylsulfonylmethylpyrimidine

In 2,4-dichloro-5-ethylthiomethylpyrimidines3a, b and in (2,4-dichloro-5-pyrimidinylmethyl)ethyl sulfones5a, b, resp., by reaction with ammonia, diethyl-amine, isopropylamine, sodium methanolate and sodium ethylthiolate, resp., the halogen atoms have been substituted by amino, methoxy or ethylthio groups, resp., and thus the compounds4a–4r and5c–5f have been obtained.

The NMR-LIS data of the four diastereomeric 2-(hydroxyphenylmethyl)cyclohexanols1–4 are used to test two possible computational models for bidentate Eu(dpm)₃ complexes. A model taking into account the presence of two equivalent coordination centers by averaging the corresponding dipolar fields of both centers proved to be superior to the simpler one assuming only one dipolar field with a fictive coordination center at a point equidistant between the two actual coordination sites.

Reduktion 4-substituierter Acetophenone mittels Hefe

The velocity of reduction of 4-substituted acetophenones by baker's yeast is decreased by electron donating substituents. The steric course, however, is little influenced and (S)-1-arylethanols2 are generally formed with over 90% enantiomeric excess.

By reaction of excess benzaldehyde with cyclohexene in presence of sulfuric acid besider-2,c-4-diphenyl-(t-4aH,c-8aH)-hexahydro-4H-1,3-benzodioxin (2) andr-4-phenyl-(t-4aH,c-8aH)-hexahydro-4H-1,3,2-benzodioxathiin-2,2-dioxide (3),trans-2-benzyloxycyclohexyl phenyl ketone (5) and (E)-3-benzylidene-1-cyclohexenyl phenyl ketone (6) are obtained. The formation of5 and6 is shown to proceed via an acid catalyzedCannizzaro reaction of benzaldehyde.

Chiral ferrocene cyanohydrin derivatives—access to novel intermolecularly linked and intramolecularly bridged ferrocene derivatives

By reduction of the cyano group in (R)-(cyanohydroxymethyl)ferrocene and (R,R)-1,1′-bis(cyanohydroxymethyl)ferrocene, amines were obtained giving access to several new diamine and diamide bridged chiral ferrocene derivatives. As a representative for an intramolecularly bridged ferrocene compound bearing two chiral centres (R,R)-8 was obtained with excellent optical purity.

By 1,4-addition of arylaldehydes to 2,3-dimethyl-1,3-butadiene in the presence of sulfuric acid 2-aryl-4,5-dimethyl-3,6-dihydro-2H-pyrans are obtained. From 1,3-butadiene and isoprene beside the corresponding 3,6-dihydro-2H-pyrans by reaction with two more molecules aldehydetrans-2,4,7-triphenyl-4a,7,8,8a-tetrahydro-4H,5H-pyrano[4,3-d-1,3-dioxines are formed. With 1,3-cyclohexadiene, however, 1,2-addition of benzaldehyde is observed to givecis-r-2,c-4-diphenyl-4a,5,6,8a-tetrahydro-1,3-benzodioxane.
