The synthesis and study of multilayer polymer structures based on 1,2-bis(2-methylbenzo[b]thiophen-3-yl)cyclopent-1-ene

Acylation of 1,2-bis(2-methylbenzo[b]thiophen-3-yl)cyclopent-1-ene gave symmetric and asymmetric 1,2-dihetarylethenes, which are of interest as photosensitive components of photochromic recording media for optical read/write storage. The formation of the photoinduced diffraction grating in a dihetarylethene-containing photochromic photorefractive layer of a waveguide multilayer system was studied.     

The role of auto-ionization transitions in the formation of the extended fine structure of high-energy secondary electron spectra

Extended fine structure (EFS) of secondary electron (SE) spectra has been detected beyond the high-energy (∼720 and ∼840 eV) LVV Auger lines in iron and nickel. Two mechanisms of its formation are considered: 1) direct transitions of electrons to the final state p according to Fermi’s “golden rule” and 2) second-order processes of auto-ionization type, passing through excitation of a core electron to an intermediate state q of the continuum with subsequent filling of the hole formed during this process by a valence electron and transition of the electron from the intermediate state q to the final state p. Interference of the direct wave with the wave reflected from neighboring atoms generates the EFS both in the final (p) and in the intermediate (q) state with two different periods determined by the wave numbers p and q. Comparison of calculated extended fine structures with the experimentally observed ones leads to the conclusion that the structure is formed by second-order auto-ionization processes. Fiz. Tverd. Effect of the porous structure of activated carbon on the adsorption kinetics of gold(I) cyanide complex

The effect the porous structure of activated carbons obtained from furfural and coconut shells has on the kinetics of [Au(CN)₂]^? ion adsorption is studied. Effective diffusion coefficients for [Au(CN)₂]^? anions in transport and adsorbing pores and mass transfer coefficients in a transport system of the pores and in microporous zones are calculated using the statistical moments of the kinetic curve.     

The change of the LMM auger spectra in 3d-metals due to oxidation and its correlation with the change of the atomic magnetic moment.

The surfaces of crystalline samples of 3d-metals (Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, and Cu) and their stoichiometric oxides have been studied by Auger spectroscopy. A correlation between the change in the LVV (L-inner level-valence-valence electron transition) Auger intensities and the change of the squares of the corresponding atomic-magnetic moments has been observed. This is because of the complicated nature of the Auger process. That is, the Auger electron emission is a result of the inner atomic level excitation by electron impact and Auger annihilation of the inner-level hole. Therefore, the Auger process has been considered a second-order process, and spin polarization of the valence states has been taken into account for the LMM (L-inner level-M-inner level-M-inner level electron transition) Auger spectra of 3d-metals.
