A reverse nanoemulsion technique was used for the elaboration of [Fe(pz){Ni(CN)4}] nanoparticles. Low‐temperature micellar exchange made it possible to elaborate ultra‐small nanoparticles with sizes down to 2 nm. When decreasing the size of the particles from 110 to 12 nm the spin transition shifts to lower temperatures, becomes gradual, and the hysteresis shrinks. On the other hand, a re‐opening of the hysteresis was observed for smaller (2 nm) particles. A detailed 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy analysis was used to correlate this unusual phenomenon to the modification of the stiffness of the nanoparticles thanks to the determination of their Debye temperature. 相似文献

Eliminating the contribution of interfering compounds is a key step in chemical analysis. In complex media, one possible approach is to perform a preliminary separation. However purification is often demanding, long, and costly; it may also considerably alter the properties of interacting components of the mixture (e.g. in a living cell). Hence there is a strong interest for developing separation-free non-invasive analytical protocols. Using photoswitchable probes as labelling and titration contrast agents, we demonstrate that the association of a modulated monochromatic light excitation with a kinetic filtering of the overall observable is much more attractive than constant excitation to read-out the contribution from a target probe under adverse conditions. An extensive theoretical framework enabled us to optimize the out-of-phase concentration first-order response of a photoswitchable probe to modulated illumination by appropriately matching the average light intensity and the radial frequency of the light modulation to the probe dynamics. Thus, we can selectively and quantitatively extract from an overall signal the contribution from a target photoswitchable probe within a mixture of species, photoswitchable or not. This simple titration strategy is more specifically developed in the context of fluorescence imaging, which offers promising perspectives. 相似文献

Far-red emitting fluorescent labels are highly desirable for spectral multiplexing and deep tissue imaging. Here, we describe the generation of frFAST (far-red Fluorescence Activating and absorption Shifting Tag), a 14-kDa monomeric protein that forms a bright far-red fluorescent assembly with (4-hydroxy-3-methoxy-phenyl)allylidene rhodanine (HPAR-3OM). As HPAR-3OM is essentially non-fluorescent in solution and in cells, frFAST can be imaged with high contrast in presence of free HPAR-3OM, which allowed the rapid and efficient imaging of frFAST fusions in live cells, zebrafish embryo/larvae, and chicken embryos. Beyond enabling the genetic encoding of far-red fluorescence, frFAST allowed the design of a far-red chemogenetic reporter of protein–protein interactions, demonstrating its great potential for the design of innovative far-red emitting biosensors. 相似文献

We have prepared gold nanoparticles covered with N-isobutyryl-l-cysteine and N-isobutyryl-d-cysteine, respectively. These particles with a mean particle size smaller than 2 nm are highly soluble in water and are amenable to chiroptical techniques such as vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) and circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy. Density functional theory shows that the VCD spectra are sensitive toward the conformation of the adsorbed thiol. Based on the comparison between the experimental VCD spectrum and the calculated VCD spectra for different conformers, a preferential conformation of the thiol adsorbed on the gold particles can be proposed. In this conformation the carboxylate group interacts with the gold particle in addition to the sulfur. The particles could furthermore be separated according to their charge and size into well-defined compounds. The optical absorption spectra revealed a well-quantized electronic structure and a systematic red-shift of the absorption onset with increasing gold core size, which was manifested in a color change with particle size. Some compounds showed basically identical absorption spectra as analogous gold particles protected with l-glutathione. This shows that these particles have identical core sizes (10-12, 15 and 18 gold atoms, respectively) and indicates that the number and arrangement of the adsorbed thiol are the same, independent of the two thiols, which have largely different sizes. Some separated compounds show strong optical activity with opposite sign when covered with the d- and l-enantiomer, respectively, of N-isobutyryl-cysteine. The origin of the optical activity in the metal-based transitions is discussed. The observations are consistent with a mechanism based on a chiral footprint on the metal core imparted by the adsorbed thiol. 相似文献

The crystal structure of Cs2BaTa6Br15O3 has been elucidated by using synchrotron X‐ray powder diffraction and absorption experiments. It is built from edge‐bridged octahedral [(Ta6${{\rm Br}{{{\rm i}\hfill \atop 9\hfill}}}$ ${{\rm O}{{{\rm i}\hfill \atop 3\hfill}}}$ )${{\rm Br}{{{\rm a}\hfill \atop 6\hfill}}}$ ]4? cluster units with a singular poor metallic electron (ME) count equal to thirteen. This leads to a paramagnetic behaviour related to one unpaired electron. The arrangement of the Ta6 clusters is similar to that of Cs2LaTa6Br15O3 exhibiting 14‐MEs per [(Ta6${{\rm Br}{{{\rm i}\hfill \atop 9\hfill}}}$ ${{\rm O}{{{\rm i}\hfill \atop 3\hfill}}}$ )${{\rm Br}{{{\rm a}\hfill \atop 6\hfill}}}$ ]5? motif. The poorer electron‐count cluster presents longer metal–metal distances as foreseen according to the electronic structure of edge‐bridged hexanuclear cluster. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations on molecular models were used to rationalise the structural properties of 13‐ and 14‐ME clusters. Periodic DFT calculations demonstrate that the electronic structure of these solid‐state compounds is related to those of the discrete octahedral units. Oxygen–barium interactions seem to prevent the geometry of the octahedral cluster to strongly distort, allowing stabilisation of this unprecedented electron‐poor Ta6 cluster in the solid state. 相似文献
