Fluoroorganic Syntheses V. Preparation and Transformation of Chlorofluorocyclopropanes. – A Selective Approach to Fluoroallylic Alcohols Chlorofluorocarbene addition to unsaturated compounds is particularly convenient and efficient in a two-phase system. This method works satisfactorily even if the olefin carries base-sensitive substituents. The resultant chlorofluorocyclopropanes can be ring-opened by silver-salt assisted acetolysis affording 2-fluorallylacetates, which yield 2-fluorallylic alcohols upon saponification.     

Ortho-lithiation of triphenylphosphonio-methylid and,also, triphenylphosphine oxide

While upon treatment with methyl- or butyllithium triphenylphosphonio-methylid ( 1 ) undergoes extensive ligand exchange (leading to 4) it reacts with sec- or tert-butyllithium mainly at the ortho-position exchanging one hydrogen against a lithium atom (to give 3).     

NMR spin lattice relaxation in dilute CuFe alloys with impurity interactions

Previous measurements by Wilkening and Hesse have shown, that the excess relaxation rate ΔT^-1₁ of the matrix nuclei in $\text{CuF}$e dilute alloys can be explained in terms of the LD-model with rapid spin diffusion. Measurements reported in this paper confirm the existence of an electric quadrupole diffusion barrier. It could be shown that the influence of the quadrupole barrier is coupled to large clusters within the alloy. The electron spin lattice relaxation time τ₁ behaves temperature independent in the range 30 K ? T ? 300 K. This can be understood if an effective correlation time τ is introduced, which results from a distrubution of temperature dependent times τ^cl(T) belonging to clusters of different size.     

Solvolytic Ring-opening of Alkoxychlorofluorocyclopropanes: A Ready Access to Fluorinated α,β-Unsaturated Aldehydes and Ketones

Alkoxychlorofluorocyclopropanes are easily prepared by chlorofluorocarbene addition to en-ethers in a two-phase system and converted by simple heating in an aqueous solvent mixture to 2-fluoro-2-alkenals which can be reduced to the corresponding alcohols.

In less than 2 hours, (Z)-alkenols of 97 – 98% stereoisomeric purity may be prepared and isolated (!) if a new type of “instant-ylids” is used.
