A quantitative, computer processed spectroscopic study, using photon counting, on the first excited triplet and singlet states of dilute isotopic mixed crystals of naphthalene at 2 K is presented for C10H8; 1-DC10H7; 2-DC10H7; 1,4-D2C10H6; 1,4,5-D3C10H5; 1,4,5,8-D4C10H4; 1,2,4,5,8-D5C10H3; a β-D4C10H4 and a β2-D6C10H2 as guests in C10D8 host crystals (and, for comparison, also for the same guests in a durene host crystal). The guest—host relative polarization Rashba formula has been verified quantitatively, and, as an added bonus, the elusive polarization ratio of the pure naphthalene crystal singlet Davydov components has been found to be 80 ± 20 (b/a), which is in poor agreement with the transition octupole—transition octupole model. The experimental guest energies and their concomitant quasiresonance shifts for bound singlet states (as well as the occurrences of unbound states) are in excellent quantitative agreement (about 1 cm?1) with those calculated using a Green's function formalism based on the ideal mixed crystal approximation and on a restricted Frenkel type dispersion relation derived from resonance pairs. The same Green's function also accounts quantitatively (within 10%) for the guest singlet state exciton localizations (guest excitation amplitudes). The triplet exciton state reveals an orientational site splitting (about 0.7 cm?1) for the 0—0 transition of the I-DC10H7 guest in C10D8 host. The order of the α and β substituted deuteronaphthalenes in the triplet state is reversed from that of the singlet state. The last two observations are related to the different nature of the lowest Π-Π* singlet and triplet states of naphthalene.  相似文献

Abstract— The order of inhibition of the photooxidation of chlorophyll a in ethanol and ethanol-benzene is as follows: β-carotene, α-tocopherol, benzoquinone, DABCO, menadione, cholesterol and KI. The quenching of singlet oxygen by β-carotene occurs by a collisional quenching mechanism with a diffusion-controlled rate of 1.7 × 1010 M -1 s-1. Photodecomposition of Chi a is faster in ethanol-D2O than in ethanol-H2O. Photoirradiation (660 nm) of the peridinin-Chl a -protein complex, a photosynthetic light-harvesting pigment isolated from marine dinoflagellates, did not show any photo-decomposition of its Chi a in H2O or D2O, even after an extended period (12 h) of irradiation. However, the carotenoid, peridinin, in the photosynthetic antenna pigment was photobleached (ca. 10%) during the irradiation. We conclude that the singlet oxygen formed as a result of the Chi photosensitization is immediately quenched by the low-lying triplet state of four peridinin molecules (per Chl a ) bound within the same protein crevice. The carotenoid thus effectively protects Chl a from photodynamic damage, providing a direct proof for the protective role of carotenoids in the photosynthetic pigment complex.  相似文献

The formal total synthesis of (+)-didemniserinolipid B, a marine tunicate possessing a 6,8-dioxabicyclo[3.2.1]octane framework, was accomplished starting from l-(+)-tartaric acid. The key transformations in the synthesis include the elaboration of a γ-hydroxy-amide readily obtained by desymmetrization of tartaric acid bis-amide via the controlled addition of a Grignard reagent followed by stereoselective reduction of the resulting ketone.  相似文献

Nelumbo nucifera leaves are rich source of natural wax possessing super-hydrophobic properties. It provides protection to them from ecological turbulences and climatic wear and tear. In this study, various experiments have been conducted to observe the yield of extraction and the determination of various functional groups, which are present in natural wax, derived from Nelumbo nucifera leaves. The natural wax has been extracted from lotus leaves through non-polar (hexane) and polar (ethanol) solvent via different extraction methods. The superhydrophobic wax has been successfully extracted with hexane. Whereas, ethanol did not extract the water-repellent wax of lotus leaf. Considering the cumulative amount, i.e. (desired + undesired), the maceration shows the extraction of 2.9% (%w/w, through hexane) and 10.2% (%w/w, through ethanol), while it was found 2.5% (%w/w, cycle period 15 min) and 9.0% (%w/w, cycle period 26 min) respectively, in case of Soxhlet extraction technique. For this specific case of natural wax recovery from biomass (lotus leaf), the maceration (traditional method) resulted a little bit superior extraction yield in comparison to the Soxhlet extraction method for extraction of crude wax. In the case of non-polar solvent (hexane), an extraction yield of 1.97% (%w/w) through maceration method was observed while in the case of non-polar solvent (ethanol), an extraction yield of 1.62% (%w/w) through Soxhlet extraction was observed. The TLC analysis on both types of extracts was performed. For the detection of various hydrocarbon chains in the crude wax extracts, FTIR was also performed. Topography of wax surface and wax-coated waterproof fabric was compared through SEM.  相似文献

Life-threatening diseases, especially those caused by pathogens and harmful ultraviolet radiation (UV-R), have triggered increasing demands for comfortable, antimicrobial, and UV-R protective clothing with a long service life. However, developing such textiles with exceptional wash durability is still challenging. Herein, we demonstrate how to fabricate wash durable multifunctional cotton textiles by growing in situ ZnO-TiO2 hybrid nanocrystals (NCs) on the surface of cellulosic fabrics. The ZnO-TiO2 hybrid NCs presented high functional efficiency, owing to their high charge transfer/separation. Ultrafine fiber surface pores, utilized as nucleating sites, endowed the uniform growth of NCs and their physical locking. The resulting fabrics presented excellent UV protection factors up to 54, displayed bactericidal efficiency of 100% against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, and optimum self-cleaning efficacy. Moreover, the functionalized textiles exhibited robust washing durability, maintaining antibacterial and anti-UV-R efficiency even after 30 extensive washing cycles.

Natural products in the form of functional foods have become increasingly popular due to their protective effects against life-threatening diseases, low risk of adverse effects, affordability, and accessibility. Plant components such as phytosterol, in particular, have drawn a lot of press recently due to a link between their consumption and a modest incidence of global problems, such as Type 2 Diabetes mellitus (T2DM), cancer, and cardiovascular disease. In the management of diet-related metabolic diseases, such as T2DM and cardiovascular disorders, these plant-based functional foods and nutritional supplements have unquestionably led the market in terms of cost-effectiveness, therapeutic efficacy, and safety. Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder categoriszed by high blood sugar and insulin resistance, which influence major metabolic organs, such as the liver, adipose tissue, and skeletal muscle. These chronic hyperglycemia fallouts result in decreased glucose consumption by body cells, increased fat mobilisation from fat storage cells, and protein depletion in human tissues, keeping the tissues in a state of crisis. In addition, functional foods such as phytosterols improve the body’s healing process from these crises by promoting a proper physiological metabolism and cellular activities. They are plant-derived steroid molecules having structure and function similar to cholesterol, which is found in vegetables, grains, nuts, olive oil, wood pulp, legumes, cereals, and leaves, and are abundant in nature, along with phytosterol derivatives. The most copious phytosterols seen in the human diet are sitosterol, stigmasterol, and campesterol, which can be found in free form, as fatty acid/cinnamic acid esters or as glycosides processed by pancreatic enzymes. Accumulating evidence reveals that phytosterols and diets enriched with them can control glucose and lipid metabolism, as well as insulin resistance. Despite this, few studies on the advantages of sterol control in diabetes care have been published. As a basis, the primary objective of this review is to convey extensive updated information on the possibility of managing diabetes and associated complications with sterol-rich foods in molecular aspects.  相似文献

The synthesis of crosslinked polydiacetylenes and its two-component interpenetrating polymer networks (IPNs) was carried out utilizing its polar and flexible substituent groups. Polydiacetylenes were crosslinked by the formation of allophanate linkages utilizing urethane groups in the substituent groups of the polydiacetylenes. Elemental analysis, DSC, TMA, solvent resistance, and IR spectra are presented as evidence for the formation of crosslinked polydiacetylenes. IPNs of polydiacetylenes and an epoxy resin (diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A) were synthesized by using simultaneous and sequential methods of synthesis. A study of phase morphology of the simultaneous and sequential IPNs was carried out using electron microscopy, TMA, and DSC.  相似文献

The nucleophilic substitution reaction under NH3 chemical ionization (CI) conditions in cis- and trans-1,2-dihydroxybenzosuberans (1–4) has been studied with the help of ND3 CI and metastable data. The results indicate that in the parent diols 1 (cis) and 2 (trans), the substitution ion [MsH]+, is produced mainly by the loss of H2O from the [MNH4]+ ion (SNi reaction) while in their 7-methoxy derivatives 3 and 4, the ion-molecule reaction between [M? OH]+ and NH3 seems to be the major pathway for the formation of [MsH]+. The substitution ion from 1 and 2 and the [MH]+ ion from trans-1-amino-2-hydroxybenzosuberan give similar collision-induced dissociation mass-analysed ion kinetic energy spectra. Interestingly, their diacetates do not undergo the substitution reaction.  相似文献
