The bioadhesive properties of a novel chemical hydrogel based on a polymer of protein-like structure, have been investigated by using ATR FT-IR spectroscopy. In particular, the copolymer PHG obtained by partial derivatization of PHEA with GMA was chemically crosslinked by UV irradiation at 313 nm. Crosslinked PHG was treated with water to obtain a swelled sample, named PHG-UV gel, that was brought into contact with a phosphate buffer/citric acid solution at pH 7.0 in the absence or in the presence of mucin at various concentrations (0.01, 0.1 and 1 wt.-%). Preliminary dynamic swelling studies have evidenced the occurrence of an interaction between the PHG-UV gel and the glycoprotein. This result was confirmed by ATR FT-IR measurements. A diffusion model using a solution of Ficks' second law was employed to determine the diffusion coefficient of water into PHG-UV gel as a consequence of adsorption and/or interdiffusion which occur at the PHG-UV gel/mucin solution interface. We present a combined experimental and theoretical analysis of the dielectric and vibrational properties of crystalline lutetium oxide in its ground-state bixbyite structure. The vibrational dielectric function of Lu2O3 thin films grown by atomic-layer deposition was studied by infrared transmission and reflection-absorption spectroscopies, selectively accessing transverse and longitudinal optical frequencies. The static dielectric constant is extracted analyzing the infrared response. We also present first-principles density-functional linear-response calculations, which are in close agreement with experiment, and provide insight into the microscopic nature of vibrational spectra and dielectric properties. 相似文献

Photoemission from the two outermost ionizations [highest occupied molecular orbitals (HOMO and HOMO-1)] of Mg(eta(5)-C(5)H(5))(2) has been studied with synchrotron radiation in the gas phase. Strong oscillations in the HOMO-1/HOMO ratio, qualitatively similar to those well-known for fullerenes, are found. Excellent agreement with the experimental ratio is provided by accurate cross section calculations both at the density-functional theory and time-dependent density-functional theory level, indicating that a many electron response has a minor role for this effect. A comparison with the calculated values for other metal sandwich compounds indicate that the presence of oscillations is a widespread phenomenon, and a potential source of interesting information on the structural and electronic properties of the target molecule. 相似文献

The structure and magnetism of ultrathin Fe films epitaxially grown on a Cu(001) surface are investigated by grazing scattering of fast H and He atoms or ions. By making use of a new variant of ion beam triangulation based on the detection of the number of emitted electrons, we obtain direct information on the structure of the film surface. We observe for room temperature growth a dominant and defined fcc-like structure. Complex surface reconstructions as reported in recent STM and LEED studies are observed only for cooling and H2 dosing. 相似文献

Phonons in nearly optimally doped HgBa(2)CuO(4+delta) were studied by inelastic x-ray scattering. The dispersion of the low-energy modes is well described by a shell model, while the Cu-O bond stretching mode at high energy shows strong softening towards the zone boundary, which deviates strongly from the model. This seems to be common in the hole-doped high-T(c) superconducting cuprates, and, based on this work, not related to a lattice distortion specific to each material. 相似文献

Pollutants removal in two vertical flow experimental wetlands receiving pre-treated municipal wastewater was investigated. Laboratory investigations using microcosms were also carried out in order to identify key processes regulating pollutants removal. Results obtained from experimental wetlands seem to confirm the ability of a single stage installation, where nitrification and denitrification processes are jointly optimised using a gravel medium, always wet but not saturated with water. Results obtained from microcosm investigations show the prominent role of O2 supply, of microbial activity and of bio-available C from vegetal metabolism in the nitrogen removal. 相似文献

A topological dipole is a pair of point defects with opposite topological charges. In this paper we show by example how the nucleation of such
a dipole within a smooth field can drive a metastable state into a stable one. Building on our previous work, we construct
a mathematical model for the dynamics of both monopoles and dipoles in a capillary filled with a nematic liquid crystal. Though
