The transformative potential of silicon photonics for chip-scale biosensing is limited primarily by the inability to selectively functionalize and exploit the extraordinary density of integrated optical devices on this platform. Silicon biosensors, such as the microring resonator, can be routinely fabricated to occupy a footprint of less than 50 × 50 μm; however, chemically addressing individual devices has proven to be a significant challenge due to their small size and alignment requirements. Herein, we describe a non-contact piezoelectric (inkjet) method for the rapid and efficient printing of bioactive proteins, glycoproteins and neoglycoconjugates onto a high-density silicon microring resonator biosensor array. This approach demonstrates the scalable fabrication of multiplexed silicon photonic biosensors for lab-on-a-chip applications, and is further applicable to the functionalization of any semiconductor-based biosensor chip. 相似文献

Ordered arrays of collagen microfibrils form rapidly and spontaneously from a solution of monomers deposited onto a mica substrate. These arrays are well-ordered and apparently continuous over the entire substrate. Correlated atomic force microscope images and Laué diffraction patterns indicate that the protein alignment and microfibril formation is controlled by the crystal orientation of the mica substrate rather than fluid flow or drying effects. The paper deals with some fast and slow processes of excitation energy deactivation in bacteriochlorophyll c and bacteriopheophytin c. The experiments were carried out in the air, and in oxygen or nitrogen atmosphere at different temperatures. The parameters such as fluorescence yield, the yield of triplet state generation and photostability were estimated. On the basis of these parameters an attempt was made to preliminary select the pigments best suited for medical applications. It seems that the photosensitive and highly fluorescent bacteriochlorophyll c could be used as a fluorescence probe for diagnosis, whereas its derivative without the magnesium ion is better suited for the photochemical reactions occurring during therapeutic treatment. 相似文献

It is shown that the number of alternating knots of given genus g>1 grows as a polynomial of degree 6g−4 in the crossing number. The leading coefficient of the polynomial, which depends on the parity of the crossing number, is related to planar trivalent graphs with a Bieulerian path. A sturdy home-built sheathless CE/ESI-QTOF-MS system was developed and optimized for carbohydrate analysis. The interface and employed methodology provided a simple analytical solution to laborious CE/MS interfacing methods and to problems in characterization of complex carbohydrate mixtures that require high-resolution separation of the components. The CE/ESI interface, feasible in any MS laboratory, consists of a one-piece CE column having the CE terminus in-laboratory shaped as a microsprayer and coated with copper. The CE microsprayer was inserted into an in-house made stainless steel clenching device and the whole assembly was mounted onto a quadrupole TOF mass spectrometer. The analytical potential of the interface in terms of suitability, microsprayer performance, copper coat durability, ionization efficiency, spray stability, and sensitivity was tested first on a simple mixture of standard saccharides, which were separated, resolved, and detected with high separation efficiency. The approach was next assessed for the screening of a biological sample, a complex mixture of O-glycosylated sialylated amino acids from urine of a patient suffering from Schindler disease. Preliminary data allow this method to be considered as one of general applicability in structural glycobiology and glycomics and easy to be implemented for proteomic surveys as well. 相似文献

Blood oxygenation level dependent (BOLD) response related to interictal activity was evaluated in a patient with post-traumatic focal epilepsy at repeated continuous electroencephalogram (EEG)-functional magnetic resonance imaging examinations. Lateralized interictal EEG activity induced a main cluster of activation co-localized with the anatomical lesion. Spreading of EEG interictal activity to both frontal lobes evoked bilateral clusters of activation indicating that topography of BOLD response might depend on the spatial distribution of epileptiform activity. 相似文献
