It is argued that preparation of a quantum state characterized by density operator not commuting with a superselection operatorQ does not by itself constitute an instance of superselection rule violation. It would, however, be an instance of state restriction violation. It is held that superselection rule violation is only possible with simultaneous observable and state restriction violations. It is shown that it is a priori conceivable to subdivide an ensemble whose satisfies[, Q] = 0 into subensembles whose density operators violate the state restrictions. Abstract

Stabilized carbanions such as the α-carbanions of carboxylic acid esters react with sulfamoyl chlorides by nucleophilic displacement at chlorine which results in chlorination of the carbanion. Thus direct sulfamoylation of these carbanions with sulfamoyl chlorides fails. Conversion of sulfamoyl chlorides to N-sulfonylamines followed by addition of carbanions at -78°C results in sulfamoylation of the carbanion. The method has not been successful with carbanions from diethyl acetamidomalonate and ethyl diphenylacetate.  相似文献

Quantification of the composition of binary mixtures in secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) is required in the analyses of technological materials from organic electronics to drug delivery systems. In some instances, it is found that there is a linear dependence between the composition, expressed as a ratio of component volumes, and the secondary ion intensities, expressed as a ratio of intensities of ions from each component. However, this ideal relationship fails in the presence of matrix effects and linearity is observed only over small compositional ranges, particularly in the dilute limits. In this paper, we assess an empirical method, which introduces a power law dependence between the intensity ratio and the volume fraction ratio. A previously published physical model of the organic matrix effect is employed to test the limits of the method and a mixed system of 3,3′-bis(9-carbazolyl) biphenyl and tris(2-phenylpyridinato)iridium (III) is used to demonstrate the method. This paper introduces a two-point calibration, which determines both the exponent in the power law and the sensitivity factor for the conversion of ion intensity ratio into volume fraction ratio. We demonstrate that this provides significantly improved accuracy, compared with a one-point calibration, over a wide compositional range in SIMS quantification and with a weak dependence on matrix effects. Because the method enables the use of clearly identifiable secondary ions for quantitative purposes and mitigates commonly observed matrix effects in organic materials, the two-point calibration method could be of significant benefit to SIMS analysts.  相似文献

Plasma-based desorption/ionization sources are an important ionization technique for ambient surface analysis mass spectrometry. In this paper, we compare and contrast three competing plasma based desorption/ionization sources: a radio-frequency (rf) plasma needle, a dielectric barrier plasma jet, and a low-temperature plasma probe. The ambient composition of the three sources and their effectiveness at analyzing a range of pharmaceuticals and polymers were assessed. Results show that the background mass spectrum of each source was dominated by air species, with the rf needle producing a richer ion spectrum consisting mainly of ionized water clusters. It was also seen that each source produced different ion fragments of the analytes under investigation: this is thought to be due to different substrate heating, different ion transport mechanisms, and different electric field orientations. The rf needle was found to fragment the analytes least and as a result it was able to detect larger polymer ions than the other sources. Figure

We have observed three unique decays of F mesons into KKπ and five unique decays of D mesons into KKπ using the NA11 spectrometer together with a telescope of high-resolution silicon microstrip detectors. The mass value obtained for the F meson is (1975 ± 4) MeV, the lifetime (3.2±1.33..0)×10?13 s.  相似文献

A procedure is described that greatly simplifies the use of an oxazaborolidine catalyst derived from (1R,2S) cis-1-amino-indan-2-ol. This B-OMe catalyst has been employed in the asymmetric reduction of a number of structurally diverse prochiral ketones, in particular the reduction of alpha-amino acetophenone and its derivatives. There is at present a doubly discrete classification for strange attractors of low dimension, d(L)<3. A branched manifold describes the stretching and squeezing processes that generate the strange attractor, and a basis set of orbits describes the complete set of unstable periodic orbits in the attractor. To this we add a third discrete classification level. Strange attractors are organized by the boundary of an open set surrounding their branched manifold. The boundary is a torus with g holes that is dressed by a surface flow with 2(g-1) singular points. All known strange attractors in R3 are classified by genus, g, and flow type.  相似文献

An interlaboratory study involving 19 time‐of‐flight static secondary ion mass spectrometer (TOF‐SSIMS) instruments from 12 countries has been conducted. Analysts were supplied, by the National Physical Laboratory, with a protocol for analysis together with three reference materials: poly(tetrafluoroethylene), a thin layer of polycarbonate on a silicon wafer and a patterned sample with different amounts of Irganox 1010 in each of four quadrants on a silicon wafer. The objectives of the study are (i) to determine the repeatability and constancy of the relative intensity scale achievable using the draft ISO standard (DIS 23830), (ii) to evaluate the effectiveness of mass scale calibration and optimisation procedure and (iii) to evaluate the current capability of relative quantification using SSIMS. The results of this study show that the constancy of the relative intensity scale has an approximate scatter standard deviation of only 5%. This is excellent and demonstrates that SSIMS measurements are significantly more stable than often thought by analysts. The draft ISO standard (DIS) CD 13084 for calibration of the mass scale in TOF‐SIMS was evaluated and found to be consistent with our previous study. Four laboratories optimised the instrument mass calibration accuracy using this procedure leading to improvements in mass scale calibration by factors of 1.8, 2.2, 2.3 and 8.6. Using a novel patterned Irganox sample it is shown that the precision of relative quantification may be as good as a standard deviation of only 5% for 16 instruments—this is a remarkable result.
