This paper describes the antioxidant and antimicrobial activities and phenolic components of different solvent (absolute methanol, absolute ethanol, absolute acetone, 80% methanol, 80% ethanol, 80% acetone and deionized water) extracts of leaves, flowers and bark of Gold Mohar [Delonix regia (Bojer ex Hook.) Raf.]. The extract yields from leaves, flowers and bark ranged from 10.19 to 36.24, 12.97 to 48.47 and 4.22 to 8.48 g/100 g dry weight (DW), respectively. Overall, 80% methanol extract produced from the leaves exhibited significantly (P < 0.05) higher antioxidant activity, with high phenolic contents (3.63 g GAE/100 g DW), total flavonoid contents (1.19 g CE/100 g DW), inhibition of peroxidation (85.54%), DPPH scavenging capacity (IC(50) value 8.89 μg/mL) and reducing power (1.87). Similarly, this 80% methanol leaves extract also showed superior antimicrobial activity. HPLC analysis of the 80% methanol extracts for individual phenolics revealed the presence of gallic, protocatechuic and salicylic acid in leaves; gallic, protocatechuic, salicylic, trans-cinnamic and chlorogenic acid in flowers, and gallic acid in bark as the main (amount > 1.50 mg/100 g DW) phenolic acids. Besides, small amounts ( < 1.50 mg/100 g DW) of some other phenolic acids such as sorbic, sinapic, p-coumaric, m-coumaric, ferulic, caffeic, 3-hydroxybenzoic, 4-hydroxycinnamic and 4-hydroxybenzoic acids were also detected. The extracts of the tested parts of Gold Mohar, especially, the leaves, might be valuable for functional food and therapeutic applications.  相似文献

Forensic analysis of mitochondrial displacement loop (D‐loop) sequences using Sanger sequencing or SNP detection by minisequencing is well established. Pyrosequencing has become an important alternative because it enables high‐throughput analysis and the quantification of individual mitochondrial DNAs (mtDNAs) in samples originating from more than one individual. DNA typing of the mitochondrial D‐loop region is usually the method of choice if STR analysis fails because of trace amounts of DNA and/or extensive degradation. The main aim of the present work was to optimize the efficiency of pyrosequencing. To do this, 31 SNPs within the hypervariable regions I and II of the D‐loop of human mtDNA were simultaneously analyzed. As a novel approach, we applied two sets of amplification primers for the multiplexing assay. These went in combination with four sequencing primers for pyrosequencing. This method was compared with conventional sequencing of mtDNA from blood and biological trace materials.  相似文献

Depression is on the rise globally and expected to lead in global burden of diseases by 2030. The current therapy has serious limitations in terms of safety, efficacy, tolerability and therapeutic success. This review, based on the literature of the last decade, is aimed at exploring the preclinical profile of plant-based saponins (the abundant secondary metabolite) as an emerging therapy for depression. Enough scientific evidences reflect that saponins promote neurogenesis, restore monoaminergic tone and enhance neurotrophic factors. In multiple stress models, they have exhibited adaptogenic effects via normalising hypothalamus–pituitary–adrenal axis, corticosterone levels and oxidative stress. Scientific data revealed neuroprotective effect of saponins by inhibiting apoptosis and intraneuronal calcium dynamics. Many plants possessing saponins as their principal antidepressant moiety need investigation at clinical level. Last decade literature revealed numerous preclinical reports supporting the role of saponins as natural cure for depression and justified their inclusion in antidepressant drug discovery programs.  相似文献

A simple integrated coupler is proposed for the efficient excitation of surface plasmon polariton (SPP) mode in a thin metal film. The SPP mode is generated in a single Ag-dielectric interface by the incident field and coupled with an Ag thin film. The coupling efficiency at different wavelengths using two different dielectrics, gallium lanthanum sulfide (GLS) and aluminum gallium arsenide (AIGaAs) is calculated by analyzing the SPP propagation dynamics with the finite difference time domain method. A maximum coupling efficiency of 70~ is obtained at a wavelength of 46Ohm when GLS is used, whereas the corresponding value obtained for A1GaAs is 60~o at 56Onto. The proposed structure can be used to excite SPPs in a nano-thin film from an external bulky source and is easier to fabricate since a single interface metal-dielectric configuration is used to excite the metal-thin film.  相似文献

Dandelion-like gallium nitride (GaN) microstructures were successfully synthesized via Ni catalyst assisted chemical vapor deposition method at 1200 °C under NH3 atmosphere by pre-treating precursors with aqueous ammonia. The as-synthesized product was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that as-synthesized dandelion-like GaN was pure and has hexagonal wurtzite structure. SEM results showed that the size of the dandelion-like GaN structure was in the range of 30-60 μm. Dandelion-like GaN microstructures exhibited reasonable field emission properties with the turn-on field of 9.65 V μm−1 (0.01 mA cm−2) and threshold field of 11.35 V μm−1 (1 mA cm−2) which is sufficient for applications of electron emission devices, field emission displays and vacuum micro electronic devices. Optical properties were studied at room temperature by using fluorescence spectrophotometer. Photoluminescence (PL) measurements of dandelion-like GaN showed a strong near-band-edge emission at 370.2 nm (3.35 eV) with blue band emission at 450.4 nm (2.75 eV) and 465.2 nm (2.66 eV) but with out yellow band emission. The room-temperature photoluminescence properties showed that it has also potential application in light-emitting devices. The tentative growth mechanism for the growth of dandelion-like GaN was also described.  相似文献

A simple and rapid cloud point extraction (CPE) procedure was applied for preconcentration of trace quantities of arsenic (As) in scalp hair samples. The samples were subjected to microwave-assisted digestion in a mixture of nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide (2 + 1, v/v) prior to preconcentration by CPE. The As in digested samples was complexed with ammonium pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (APDC), and the resultant As-PDC complex was extracted by a nonionic surfactant, octylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol (Triton X-114). After centrifugation, the surfactant-rich phase was diluted with 0.1 M HNO3 in methanol and analyzed by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry. The experimental parameters, i.e., amount of APDC, concentration of Triton X-114, equilibrium temperature and time, were optimized. For validation of the proposed method, a certified reference material (CRM) of human hair (BCR 397) was used. No significant difference (P > 0.05) was observed between the experimental results and certified values of the CRM (paired t-test). The LOD and LOQ obtained under the optimal conditions were 0.025 and 0.083 microg/kg, respectively. The developed method was applied for the determination of As in scalp hair samples from male and female subjects of two villages of Khairpur Mir's, Pakistan.  相似文献

Pyrene-based molecules are being explored as prospective fullerene-free acceptors for organic solar cells (OSCs), due to their easy accessibility, structural planarity, and excellent electron delocalization. In this work, we successfully designed and analyzed pyrene-based acceptor materials (QL1–QL8) to investigate their photophysical and electro-optical parameters. Various geometric parameters were computed at the MPW1PW91/6-31G(d,p). Advanced quantum chemical approaches were employed to characterize the molecules. All the tailored molecules (QL1–QL8) exhibit a lower bandgap than the reference (R), signifying their superiority. Among these, QL8 was found to have a maximum absorption (λmax) at 791.37 nm and an optical bandgap (ELUMOEHOMO) minimum of 2.11 eV. Redshifted absorption spectra are observed in both gaseous and solvent phases for all the designed (QL1–QL8) molecules in contrast to R. Among these, QL4 exhibits the highest light harvesting efficiency (0.9826), and open-circuit voltage. A detailed donor–acceptor investigation of QL8/PBDB-T revealed the marvelous charge switching at the donor–acceptor interface. The approach used in this study is anticipated to facilitate the manufacturing of highly efficient OSC molecules.  相似文献
