Nonperturbative flow equations from running expectation values

We show that Wegner's flow equations, as recently discussed in the Lipkin model, can be solved self-consistently. This leads to a nonlinear differential equation which fully determines the order parameter as a function of the dimensionless coupling constant, even across the phase transition. Since we consider an expansion in the fluctuations, rather than the conventional expansion in the coupling constant, convergence to the exact results is found in both phases when taking the thermodynamic limit.     

Steric interactions in cellular structures formed in a water/oil/surfactant/cosurfactant mixture

Dynamics of dense microemulsion droplets forming ordered cellular phases as temperature increases are investigated by neutron spin echo spectroscopy (NSE). The shape fluctuations of droplets are shown using a specific contrast. Their relaxation time tau(f) is obtained by analysis of the NSE curves, which also reveals the short-range Brownian motion (diffusion constant D0) of the "caged" droplets. The thermal dependence of D0 and tau(f) supports the notion of entropically driven interdroplet steric repulsion stabilizing the cellular phases.     

Measurement of the η production in proton-proton collisions with the COSY time-of-flight spectrometer

The reaction pp → ppη was measured at excess energies of 15 and 41 MeV at an external target of the Jülich Cooler Synchrotron COSY with the time-of-flight spectrometer. About 25000 events were measured for the excess energy of 15 MeV and about 8000 for 41 MeV. Both protons of the process ppη were detected with an acceptance of nearly 100% and the η was reconstructed by the missing-mass technique. For both excess energies the angular distributions are found to be nearly isotropic. In the invariant-mass distributions strong deviations from the pure phase space distributions are seen. Water mobility in a water-soaked nafion® membrane: A high-resolution neutron quasielastic study

Water mobility in an acid Nafion® membrane containing ca. 15% water by weight has been studied by high-resolution neutron quasielastic scattering (NQES). The data are analyzed in terms of simple models. On a scale of ca. 10 Å, the water molecules move practically as freely as in bulk water, but their long-range motion is much more hindered. These results are important for an understanding of the relation between the microstructure and the macroscopic properties of these membranes. To our knowledge, this is the first detailed NQES study of the water-polymer interaction problem.

The anomalous Dimensions of the nonlocal flavoursinglet operators are calculated. Their relation to the local anomalous dimensions is given.     

Kronecker product decomposition for Poincaré-like groups II. Application to the Weyl group

Using the general recipe for the determination of Kronecker product decomposition for Poincaré-like groups, which has been formulated in Part I, the reduction problem for the Weyl group and the affine group in two dimensions is solved completely.

Structure of 72,74Se at high spin

Lifetimes of high spin states up to { }=22⁺ in the yrast positive parity bands have been measured to investigate the shape evolution with increasing spin in ^{72, 74}Se. The Q _t values derived from these measurements indicate that prolate shape stabilizes for ⁷²Se, while a triaxial shape develops for ⁷⁴Se at higher spins. Comparison of the observed trend in Q _t with spin for ^{72, 74}Se with that of the corresponding kryptones isotones emphasizes the stability provided by N=38 prolate shell gap even at high rotational frequency.
