Controllability of a class of Volterra equations in Hilbert spaces with completely monotone kernel

We consider a parabolic Volterra integro-differential equation in Hilbert space with a completely monotone convolution kernel and a sectorial operator. Utilizing a state space setting, we show that for a large class of kernels the state cannot be controlled exactly to zero. On the other hand, equations of our type are always approximately controllable, provided the control operator has dense range.

Zusammenfassung In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird die Bestimmung von Stickstoff (0–5000 g) mit einem Stickstoffanalysator (Modell 1300, Carlo Erba, Mailand) geschildert. Es wird über statistische Kenndaten berichtet. Arbeitsweisen werden beschrieben, die es ermöglichen, sowohl hohe Stickstoffgehalte in organischen Produkten als auch g-Mengen Stickstoff in organischer Matrix (< 1 %) richtig und mit guter Reproduzierbarkeit zu erfassen. Auch die Analyse von Ammoniumstickstoff ist durchführbar.

Precision of analysis data by using an automatic nitrogen analyser

Summary This study describes the determination of nitrogen (0–5000 g) with an automatic analyzer (Model 1300, Carlo Erba, Milano). Statistical characteristics are reported. Methods for recording with accuracy and precision both high nitrogen contents in organic products and g quantities of nitrogen in organic matrix (< 1 %) are discussed. The analysis of ammonium can also be performed.

Unitary parametrization of perturbations to tribimaximal neutrino mixing

Current experimental data on neutrino mixing are very well described by tribimaximal mixing. Accordingly, any phenomenological parametrization of the Maki-Nakagawa-Sakata-Pontecorvo matrix must build upon tribimaximal mixing. We propose one particularly natural parametrization, which we call "triminimal." The three small deviations of the Particle Data Group angles from their tribimaximal values, and the PDG phase, parametrize the triminimal mixing matrix. As an important example of the utility of this new parametrization, we present the simple resulting expressions for the flavor-mixing probabilities of atmospheric and astrophysical neutrinos. As no foreseeable experiment will be sensitive to more than second order in the small parameters, we expand these flavor probabilities to second order.
